    Sea lion expo

Extremely small aquarium area in W Ed that I was somewhat surprised how actually small it was. Sure you can pet a shark (that looks like it's sleeping or about to die) and they do have a few other aquariums but for the price it's very cramped and a bit of a dissapointment. We had admission with the Sea-lion show. The Sea lion show was great, entertaining and educational. It is a bit sad that they have them in a shopping mall but I don't think eating fish all day and performing tricks is such a bad life. There was also a penguin demonstration that was a bit underwhelming but that's fine. Both were enjoyed quite a bit by my six year old daughter. If you are buying admission for just the Sea life caverns I'd say don't waste your money. With both the sea lion show and penguin show it's a bit more palatable. Don't come with massive expectations as you will be let down in a big way.

Super cute, a penguin and 3 different sea lions for the show. They were super trainee and fun to watch

Shy the animal care specialist introduced us to the shark exhibit. She said we can pet them. The shark tanks are so awesome.

I hadn't been to the zoo in a few years and my mom was visiting from BC and she loves animals so we…read morethought it would be a great day out with the family. We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. Got to see Lucy the elephant up close and personal when she went for a walk. It was amazing, we were literally just a few feet from her when she walked by. That's an experience I won't soon forget. We got to chat with one of the keepers and it was very interesting to hear about some of the behaviours of the meerkats. The staff were wonderful, their love and care for the animals was evident and their passionate about animals in general, it was lovely to see. We got some ice cream at one of the stores, my daughter loved the treat. The only complaint we had, and I can't really call it a complaint because I understand why, was that all the birds were missing from the cages because of an avian flu outbreak. My mom was sad as she loves the owls and birds of prey. But otherwise it was an amazing day.

Post-Covid visit of The Valley Zoo was not too bad. Of course many things were different. The flow…read moreof traffic is now one-way at the zoo which actually makes it less congested and easier to navigate. The only downfall is if you want to back-track to see something again or go grab a beer at the Sandwich & Sons, you have to go against the flow of people which is not too great. They do offer craft beer and canned cocktails now!!! This was exciting for me but when we got there, I didn't know that the ONLY place you can buy beer is at Sandwich & Sons which is actually "outside" the gate of the zoo in the reception area. So I had to back track to go grab our drinks. It would be great if they could serve this at every food / drink area at the zoo. We were able to see a lot of animals, and we got a glimpse of Lucy the Elephant too! So special to have her here and to be able to see her. My kids LOVE the owls and birds area however there are a lot of wasps in that area too so beware and be careful. Overall, it was a great visit and nice to see this place constantly improving. No rides this time either due to Covid but hope they bring those back soon too!

Best thing to do is purchase your passes online before you go because you'll save a little bit of money that way. If you sign up for their emails you'll also get a chance to purchase 2 for 1 passes or multiple entry discounted passes. I purchased 2 family passes for a discounted price of 25% off. At the grounds themselves they have a farmers market with local goodies, a mini farm where you can feed the animals, potato guns, wagons to pull the kids in, lots of picnic benches for having lunch (which you can bring yourself btw). Depending on the time of season you go, they also have a sunflower field for awesome pictures, and you can purchase sunflower stems to take home. They also have a pumpkin patch in the fall for great photo ops and pumpkins for purchase too. On top of all that x there are games and jumping pillows for the kids and just soooooo much fun. The maze itself changes every year so it's always something new when you come. It takes about 1.5 hours to complete so be ready with your walking shoes or wagons. Overall this is a super fun family friendly activity to enjoy and I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't been before.
