This is a small, bit hard to find place on 41st St., but once inside, it is extremely clean, and one of the owners that took care of us was super friendly!! These Korean hand rolls are delicious, and very unique. We would definitely recommend this place!! specially the oysters, the Korean style dumpling, and the spicy tuna handroll.

Came as a group of 5 for a dinner before a Broadway show. 3 of us got the signature set and got a few extra apps and rolls to share. The fish with the crisp apple slices was my favorite. The food came out very quick, great pacing, left us plenty of time before the show, and handled add ons and modifications very well.

We enjoyed our hand rolls here. Not fancy but fresh ingredients. Service was prompt and helped to moves seats to be freed. It's a small bar seating only place but you can see the hand rolls being made. Recommend the wagyu and brown butter scallop crisp.

Delicious food, generous portions, and one of the best Restaurant Week deals in the city right now make Mari.ne Handroll Bar a must visit. Located near Bryant Park, this Korean gem delivers from start to finish! You cannot go wrong with any of the options on the $60 restaurant week menu, and, I cant wait for my next visit!

Heard great things about the chef here so wanted to try it out for dinner with a friend. When we first checked in, it took a while for the waiter to check us in and find my name on the iPad. After i was seated, the owner or other waiter came by and rechecked me in again. I ordered the 5 handroll set and my friend got the vegan set. My friend got a tea and it came out cold, which was a surprise. The waiter was nice enough to bring out a hot tea in the house. The sushi chefs got our handroll sets confused - he gave my friend my tuna roll and me the vegan roll. Then he just picked up both and switched them. The pacing was good and they didn't make the hand rolls until we finished, but the sushi chefs weren't interactive and didn't really explain the hand rolls, fillings, and sauces. The fish was super fresh, but i was thrown off by the spicy tuna roll being canned tuna consistency not similar to the fatty tuna / chunks. Due to the experience of dining at the counter lacking, i probably wouldn't come back. Unfortunate though because i really did like the flavors of the hand rolls and would've tried more dishes if my friend wasn't vegan!

We started off with the vegetable tempera with sweet potato and kobocha with the wasabi yuzu sauce and it was so good. The tempera was very light and fluffy. And the wasabi yuzu sauce was the perfect kick. I really was a big fan of the sauce. And my mom and I ordered a three piece hand roll of the seafoods and then a three piece hand rolls of the vegetable. To be honest I could have done with the fish ones not that they were bad but in comparison to the quality I've gotten when I used to live in Hawaii it's just not the same. I think the vegetable hand rolls were definitely the winners for me. I was really surprised by the asparagus tomato vegan had all set. It was very good almost like a meat texture. I also ordered a caviar fatty tuna one which was really good. Service was fine and ambiance is alright, cute lil restaurant. We sat at tn bar.

Food: 1/5 - Found fragments of plastic or glass from the serving plate on my roll. Fish also didn't taste fresh. Value: 1/5 - Not worth a single dollar when you're at risk of eating debris from the tableware. Service: 1/5 - When I flagged the issue with my roll, the response was dismissive - no urgency, no accountability. A restaurant that can't bothered to replace chipped tableware is a restaurant that may be cutting corners elsewhere too - and when "elsewhere" could mean raw fish, that is a serious food safety concern. Will not be returning.

Takeout lunch so judge accordingly. Like with so many spots in the area, the prices feel high vs. the product. The location premium is unavoidable. Pickup after app ordering is quick and easy. Service is friendly. The inside looks a little cramped with a long counter that wraps around a little bit at the end in a fairly narrow footprint, but it's bright and looks comfortable enough. Food is packaged well for takeout, with individual seaweed wraps for each roll. Easy enough to finish assembly, especially if you have any experience with onigiri. Pull the plastic to the side and the goodies drop in to your crispy seaweed. Food is fine. Got the regular 5 roll set and it was good. Nothing really stood out but I ooh'd and ahh'd with my dining companions. Not quite enough food. I'd have ordered their fish broth noodles to supplement but it wasn't a takeout option. Glad to have tried it as a splurge but it'll be low on the list for repeat visits.

MariNe Handrolls delivers a great experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and struck the perfect balance--engaging and respectful when interacting with our group, while also being highly attentive. We never had to ask for refills on water or tea, and the pacing of each round of handrolls was seamless. The handrolls themselves were delicious and well balanced. Even after finishing the 5-roll set, I found myself wanting at least one more just to keep going. Given the size of the restaurant and its location, the pricing felt fair for the quality you're getting. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot, especially for smaller groups of 2 to 4. It's also an okay option for a date if you don't mind the bar-style seating setup. Unfortunately couldn't give this place the 4-5 stars due to their tableware (specifically for holding the handrolls) being severely chipped and damaged. Something I would especially not expect for where your food gets "displayed" or placed directly on.

If you are looking for delicious hand rolls in an intimate yet casual environment, then Mari.Ne is a wonderful choice! The hand rolls are very well portioned, filled with plenty of rice and fish. I ordered a set of 4 and found this to be quite filling. Of the hand rolls we tried in our group, favorites were the crab, salmon, fatty tuna, and spicy tuna hand rolls. The restaurant offers several sauces and recommends pairings with each hand roll, which just elevate the flavors even more! In terms of service, I found it to be great. The chefs do a great job of spacing out the rolls and in recommending sauce parings. The location is small, so I would recommend a reservation if you are visiting with a group larger than 3 people. Overall, I loved the flavors offered by Mari.Ne's hand rolls and found them well portioned for the value.

the most reasonably priced hidden gen handrolls before broadway we came to get a quick bite and left super full and happy! we wanted sushi and found this spot tucked away near bryant park with little expectations not only was the food fire, service incredible, ambiance great but the PRICES were so reasonable! 10 handrolls and oysters for like 100 bucks - a steal def coming back and i recommend to everyone

Love this place for a quick bite in midtown! I got lunch on Saturday afternoon with 4 friends - we were seated immediately and were only one of two small groups dining in. We all ordered from the set menu, and some of us ordered a few à la carte rolls. I went with the 5 hand roll set and really liked it! The fish was fresh, rice well seasoned, and the nori had a really nice snap. I also liked the different types of sauces, and I thought the spicy one paired well with all of the rolls. I think this is a great place to grab lunch on the weekends with out of town friends - there's usually no wait, the food is good, the location is very central/easy to get to, and service is quick if you're in a rush to catch a show near by.

    Dessert - variations on rice.

This place is the real deal. We've been here once before and came back spur of the moment tonight. We were greeted warmly. We decided to splurge on the restaurant week menu which was worth every penny. The meal was paced nicely and the food was explained by the wonderful host.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

Very cozy restaurant and the staff were attentive and friendly. Luckily their service is very fast so my family and I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for a table in the back. I really enjoyed their niku udon. The broth was flavorful but not too salty. The menu offered a variety of options, all reasonably priced between $10-20, ensuring great value for the quality provided. I would come back to Tensai for some comforting Japanese udon noodles!

This place completely breaks the mold! The chefs here put genuine thought, balance, and incredible freshness into every single dish. The space is small and cozy--perfect for groups of 2 to 4--and our server, Alisa, was attentive, friendly, and never pushy. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Sake Flight & Sakura Mori: Smooth, light, and the perfect start to the evening. Ankimo (Monkfish Liver): Super innovative and a total standout compared to other spots. Paired brilliantly with the ponzu-wasabi-soy combination. Uni: Exceptionally fresh with that natural, clean sweetness you always hope for. Toro Tataki: Pure summer vibes! Beautifully fresh sashimi topped with the perfect crispiness. Scallop Roll: Fresh with a great bounce to the texture. Age Tofu: Super soft texture with a wonderfully balanced flavor profile. Takoyaki: Generously packed with octopus. The sauce was a bit heavy-handed, but if you love takoyaki sauce like I do, it hits the spot! Pork Katsu Curry: Crispy, perfectly fried pork chop balanced out seamlessly by the rice and rich curry sauce. Kurobuta Sausage: More of a casual bar-style bite that felt a little out of place next to the other refined dishes, but saved by that great house mustard. Black Sesame Ice-Cream & Fried Sweet Potato Dessert: We usually skip dessert when we order this much food, but this combination was an incredible, must-order finish to the night!
