I started going to Bruce Pearson. I went for counseling and was thinking about medication, but as a last resort and least not for a few sessions. Dr. Pearson had me convinced within 30 mins that I was all out of options and anti-depressants were all I could do. I was too gullible and said yes. He went to talk to Dr. Geiger (who I never met during my time here) to get the prescription. I was told to come back to talk to another doctor in 3 weeks. After the session with Dr. Pearson I realized I had barely talked at all during the session and Dr. Pearson had told me a lot of stories about his personal life. Three weeks later I came back to see Charles MacDonald. I waited about 30 minutes until he came out to see me. The whole time I was in his office he asked me generic questions like "Do you have siblings", "Do you have suicidal thoughts?", "Are you depressed?", ect. In between each question was 2-3 minutes of silence and him clicking his mouse and typing in my answers. At the end of the survey he told me "sounds like you're depressed." Very insightful, like I didn't have it figured out already. It was almost like he was filling out a buzzfeed quiz for "which mental disorder do you have?" The whole appointment was a waste of time. I left and did not make an appointment to return. I went to my primary doctor to get help getting off the medication that did not work for me and I went through horrible withdrawal symptoms for nothing. A few months later I got a bill for copays that I was told I didn't have when I checked in for my appointments. That could just be an insurance thing. While I'd rather not give any of my money to this place, that's not the thing I'm most concerned about. The doctors I met are very driven towards medication and it seems like you won't get anywhere with your counseling unless you give into it. Personally, it was not the place for me. read more
