Currently in term 2 and they always have answered all my questions and they want you to succeed thats for sure. Staff and teachers are very helpful. Recently graduated from Marian College in Van Nuys, it was a very enriching experience. The school is like a family, the teachers have a wide array of knowledge and experience; some of them are retired medical doctors and registered nurses for example one of the teachers had worked in a very prestigious hospital like New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell in New York, NY. The teachers pour their heart into teaching and even offer tutoring after class for students who are struggling. I was a part time student and thank God I was able to balance a full time job and being a student. I am successful right now as a License Nurse because of marian college. I think it's not fair for the school to get such a bad review.. as claimed by INNA G. I've been in the program myself and I know policy and procedure.. Since Day 1 - orientation day and WE have a student hand book that explained everything for your reference.. policy of six mos as far as i know is not the school rules but for financial aid.. Went to this school some years back! VN41!!! I realized it was due for a review. This school is CHALLENGING you really have to apply yourself. It's not one of those self studying type of schools. I just finished my lvn program at Marian college. I have nothing but good things to say about this campus. They are remarkably professional, polite and informative. When I started I was scared like most students and they let you know that it will be difficult so there is no lie here. They push you to be the best nurse you can be. They have all the right equipment to teach you all the skills to be a great nurse. The clinical sites are a great experience which give you the real world situations. The faculty and staff are so amazing and taught me so much I am great full for. Mrs. Vee who works in admission and she is tough at first but a sweet heart once you get to know her. Love this school! Never have I ever been so satisfied with with my education. The teachers and staff are amazing and provide you with all the tools you need to be successful in the LVN program. The program does take dedication and determination but as long as you study and listen to the information that your teacher is giving you, you will do well. I came from College of Nursing and Technology in Reseda and that was one of the things i regret: to waste my first term with them. It's like I am hit a stone in my head. The worst of the worst. VILMA , the admin Assistant was very helpful and accommodating. She is a gem to the school. She helped me in my papers and follow ups. She is always happy and full of good vibes. I went to this school because of the location. I think it is a great school. I was expecting to be challenged and if you apply yourself it is definitely achievable. I have to say during Covid they did everything necessary to continue thru distant learning thru the web. We had to adapt as this was new to them as well. They do what is necessary to get things done so if you are a difficult person on a stringent schedule you will complain about things. If you can adapt things can get done. We all have jobs and responsibilities and going to Marian I thought was the best choice and I appreciate all the effort the staffing and teachers help to accomplish my goal. I am so surprised at the negative comments and poor ratings others have given this school. First of all, a lot of other schools that offer similar LVN programs cost way so much more than in Marian. Second, the staff were really helpful and friendly. The teachers are also very knowledgeable: they teach you what you really need to know (which is very helpful for when you take the exam and when you work). I guess people are just not happy that they don't give you the questions to the test before the actual test (like they do in high school). This is a certification program to become an LVN! Nurses have to take a special exam to be one because you need to know what you're doing before you are entrusted with someone's life! To pass that exam you need to know your stuff and that means studying hard! Real hard! So yes... if you think you can just pay your tuition and show up to school to become a nurse, then this is not the place for you. BUT, if you want to go to a good school to learn and be prepared for your career then go to Marian college! read more

Currently enrolled in this school, my experience has been ok, the instructors are good, Mrs Lim and Mrs Gena always doing there best, office staff are nice and pleasant, the problem here is the schedule, constantly changing in the last minute, no Clinica instructors and the ones they have sucks, they let you go early, don't care if you learn or not, even before Covid, hopefully they can do better with their program schedule because is very unprofessional to keep students wondering around. read more

BEWARE: this school is extremely racist/prejudice towards any individual outside of the Filipino race. I went into this school, interested in applying to it. At first, Vilma and Denise (front staff) made it seem like I was going to get accepted and they were going to do a transfer credit for some previous courses that I've took outside of this school. But as the week went on and the further I got into the admission process, Vilma and Alma (program director) started BS'ing and did not want to accept any of my credits, without taking an exam for it first. Who gives an exam to someone without ANY study guide and also they expected that I knew this material, when I've took these specific classes about 2-3 years ago. If it's on my transcript with a passing grade, then there should not be any problem in giving my credit for the course. Next, came the interview with Allan or whatever his name is. He made it seem like this is a super prestigious school and was very belittling to me during our interview. He had mentioned "You are coming from another school, well this is my school, and you're going to have to go with my rules" WHO SAYS THAT DURING AN INTERVIEW? That's right, I forgot, because I'm not Filipino, therefore he thinks he has the right to speak to me in that manner. Well Allan, check yourself before you wreck yourself. Bottom line is, STAY AWAY if you're not Filipino AND oh, Vilma and Alma have the audacity to look straight at me and mumble something in there little language and try to not make it obvious. Well guess what ALMA and VILMA, you made it pretty obvious. So this post is also for you. STAY AWAY, FIND ANOTHER SCHOOL! This school doesn't care about it's students time and effort. They won't help you, they won't even tell you your scores just so you can fail by .5 of a percentage point because they are understaffed and cannot pass everyone. Not only will they fail you but they will make you sign a leave of absence because they don't have any classes available for you. So now you have to wait SIX MONTHS to sit through the torture of retaking the same class because you failed by a .5 percent. Now they have added 9 months to your supposed 14 month program. DO NOT GO HERE you will be here for years while they bill for your extended attendance. Their interests are conflicting with the students the longer they keep you there the more they get paid so they do anything they can to fail you and for you to take leaves of absences unwillingly. It is not uncommon for people to be in this program for well over two years. Save your blood, sweat and tears for a school that values you and do not go here. read more

My experience at Marian College was a very positive one. I was very lucky to have instructors that cared. Staff that actually wanted me to succeed. My career would not be as successful as it is today.....if it wasn't for the instructor who helped me with follow up and tips long after I completed my classes. Today I am more than happy to say, I have been self employed for over two and a half years. Where do I start? Everything about this school is just awesome. We started on the wrong foot. I went to College of Nursing and Technology in Reseda. Marian College is out of its league. Let's start off with the first contact: Enquiring about the LVN program: Vilma was the most knowledgeable staff when it came to this. We came for the entrance exam after a week of research and Anna was at the reception, very accommodating, always willing to help. After passing the entrance exam, I was scheduled to meet with the Director of Nursing, Alma. She discussed with me what to expect and how to achieve my goal. She was precise and motivating. I got the best advise from her. Enrollment was a breeze and I got the chance to get assisted by Vilma and Anna again. These two are a tandem and you'll forget that you were dealing with two persons. They seem to be working in sync with each other. Anna dealt with the financial aspect, Vilma with other documents. Anna is very efficient with numbers and very approachable. You can ask her anything and if she doesn't know the answer she will find out for you. One touch service at its best! Now that I am with this school, I am the happiest student in the US. I learn very fast because of the way they teach. Ms. Lim is very extensive and detailed at the same time. For the first time in years, I enjoy going to school again. The school is lucky to have a staff line up like this. But I am luckiest because I am a part of it now. read more

Don't go to this so called college and read all early reviews from 2011. You will regret going to this worst college ever. They steal your money, I went to this school in 2008-2009. They not only stole my hard earning money yet ruined my life. I was a dedicated student who worked hard at trying to keep my grades up but it didn't matter cause 95% majority of one ethnicity (Filipinos) had the leakage and the 5% minority who didn't have the leakage were failing. Sometimes after an exam when you ask a student how did you get that answer they wouldn't even know how they got the answer yet they got an A, should be able to break down your methods of how you came to your answer, yet they didn't know cause they were at home, outside in the parking lot or in streets in back of the college where everyone parks their cars exchanging the leakage just before class begins. I didn't believe this til after they let me go from this college. Kept in touch with few of the student and they told me what was happening in this college. After two years had gone by, one of the friend's came over brought two huge hefty bags of every exams that was ever given at Marian College, in front of my families. Mr. Alvin wife even tried to call me a cheater when she let me go and that hurt feelings came back when I saw every version of the each exams. I let it go and didn't fight with the college about it cause at the end they would have said I cheated, when in gods eyes, I didn't. Then in 2012 & 2014 they sent me a private bill saying I owe them money. For what???? For giving me an unfair education where 95% had the leakage. I be damned if they took anymore money from me, after dealing with them nicely nothing got resolved. Then they sent me a private bill again 2016, this time I was not nice. Spoke with Rowena in financial aid and told her about the leakage, I will not be paying them any further for the unfair education that was given to me and it's not even fair to me to be paying my student loans when I didn't receive a fair education. They charged additional months that I never attended at Marian College. They dropped the bill once I said I still have the test exams, will sue/report them to the better business bureau, asked for a receipt for $0 sent to me, they did it. This college is CRAP. There's only one good instructor there Ms. Mildred, who challenges your mind. The rest aren't very good, only read off the book, word per word. They need to hire different ethnicity for instructors to make this a fair college. When you go for the clinicals half the time instructors are only speaking in their own language (Filipino) to the students and when you do ask questions, cause of the language barrier they are not able to articulate in English properly. Bottom line you will not learn to your fullest capacity and you will be ripped off by this so called college, they set you up for failure. Don't go here and read all earlier reviews from the beginning, it's true. I'm only writing this review now after they had the nerve to send me a bill again in 2016. It's not right what they do at this college. I still remember getting a call from Mr. Alvin wife saying I'm doing two final in one week. Giving me only two days to study for GI final when I'm still studying for a final for another subject that was happening two days before. Even the GI final was so outrageously insanely hard that I no one passed.. They let me go after that. They were setting me up for failure purposely. Don't waste your money here, go to a regular normal college LAVC, Pierce, LACC, LBC, Harbor... I could go on forever how horrible Marian College is, stealing everyones hard earning money, my parents worked so hard to put me thru college and when I let them down, it's the worst feeling I had ever in my life. I was supposed to graduate in the fourth quarter three months away from graduating, the look in their eyes still haunts me, when I told them they let me go. I was suppose graduate, pay my parents back and start working so I could take care of them, they worked and struggled so hard to give me money for this horrible college. Every time I get my student loan bill that I'm stuck paying for, kills my soul. Marian College should return my parents money back cause this college has the leakage and for the unfair education, not having proper instructors, setting you up for failure. Stay away from this college you will regret it. Also, before I had started Marian College, I had searched and visited many other trade colleges for the LVN program. I picked Marian College cause it was the cheapest trade college. I had visited and passed the entrance exam to very well know trade college Concorde, Everest, American Career College and all told me not to go here cause of the high failure rate and showed me a printout of all the trade college and their passing rates for each trade college.
