We decided on a small ceremony with the two of us, our two kids, our dog and one friend in our backyard. All photographers wanted to charge an arm and a leg even when we explained this was not your typical wedding. Oxana was the only who listened and charged us the price for family photos. She kept open communication with us and on the day of the wedding she arrived early to make most of the time and natural light. She proposed some photo shoots, but more importantly, she made us fell at ease and act naturally to truly capture the moment. She captured all moments of the ceremony, including the groom's crying, the ring-bearing dog and the kiss. After the ceremony, she took more pictures of us and our family. She was able to make my son look eye-opened to the camera and our dog stand still. The pictures she took will not only immortalize my wedding but will also serve as beautiful family pictures to be framed and hanged. I am very happy with Oxana's work. The photos were top-notch, she is an LGBTQ ally and I would not hesitate to hire her again and refer her to my friends.

To judge Jennifer based solely on the pictures we received and how she did at my daughter's bat…read moremitzvah, she may have earned 5 stars. But, outside of the day of the event, this was a miserable experience. A couple of months prior to the event, I began to email Jennifer to arrange the separate portrait session. She never replied to an email, and finally answered her phone, stating that the emails must have gone to her spam folder (even though we'd communicated primarily through email as we were going through the contracting process). She arrived half an hour late to the portrait session, for which we only had one hour since it was the day of the event. Our contract stated that we'd have the pictures 4-6 weeks after the event. We hadn't heard from her at all at 6 weeks, so began emailing, calling, and texting, and got no response at all. Finally, on February 3 (more than 3 months after the event), she texted back that she was "almost done." We didn't hear back again until March. At that point, we were told that some of the files were "corrupted" and she was sending them to a lab to see if they could be recovered. What she had was finally posted in mid-March. After another couple of months of desperately trying to get Jennifer to respond to inquiries about the status of the corrupted files, she finally replied that she had "good news" on May 5 and the recovered pictures would be posted that weekend. It wasn't until June 12 that she finally posted the pictures. There were only a few, though, and they were not of the people and parts of the event that she knew we were hoping for. By way of apology, all we ever received was a $200 credit towards prints and a promise to connect us with someone who does albums so that we could buy an album at cost. (We never got an actual apology for anything, just excuses.) Of course, she never did connect us with the album person. But now, 10 months after the event and with prints and files in hand, we are simply glad to be done with the whole thing.

I would not recommend trusting Laura to be your wedding day photographer. She is a pleasant person…read moreand her work in a controlled, one-on-one environment such as an engagement shoot is good. On our wedding day, I was disappointed beyond words with Laura. I will start with the fact that she LOST more than an hour of photos. This included pictures of my husband going table to table during the reception taking individual pictures with our guests, our cake cutting, and our sparkler exit. How she compensated for losing our wedding photos... Six weeks to the day Laura delivered the photos as stated in the contract. At this time she was forthcoming about the loss of photos and offered an offensively low refund. Which I explained to her that we could not accept this for the following reasons--we spent more time taking pictures with our guests, going table to table, than enjoying the latter part our reception because we had many guests travel from distant places. And we wanted to send those pictures to them with thank you notes. The cake photos, sparklers exit, and group photos outside the venue are disappointing to be lost but all those photos of us and numerous guests at the reception was an irreplaceable loss. Her final offer was to refund 9.89% of our invoiced amount, not good enough. My other huge gripe with her wedding day performance was she had no command or direction over the photos with large parties at all. I would suggest that you would need to have a wedding planner to work with her because she is unable to take charge and work towards achieving the photos you list as the "must-have" shots. Laura excels in outdoor photos with natural light and no need for a flash, which look natural, and candids. On the final photos that were delivered, many of our indoor photos had no consistency in hues, warmth, and brightness. I was washed out in many of the "directed" indoor photos at our church, because of the flash. We brought this to her attention and she was very responsive in being willing to do the edits, but the edits were horrific, thoughtless, unusable changes.

There are many photographers to choose from in the DMV but the Team here is top-notch. Stephanie is a true testament to this. We are SO lucky to have found her. We LOVE her work and she is a true gem of a human to work with. She has been nothing but accommodating, responsive, and timely, (both with the shoot and sending proofs, sharing information, etc.). She was also understanding when she arrived as scheduled for our shoot, but my newborn was still feeding. I felt terrible, but she just gets it. And of course, while I could rave about her kind-heartedness, passion, and professionalism, her talent speaks for itself. Her newborn photography style is sophisticated, natural, and comfortable. It is not articulated or contrived. She has a true eye for lighting and the right angles. Additionally, she guided us through the whole process, from styling to sending us a pre-shoot guide, on how to declutter your space, prepare for photo day, ease your newborn into it, and what to expect. She was transparent with pricing (definitely on the high end, but worth the splurge) and offers various packages based on your budget. If you haven't guessed it by now... I would highly recommend her. Note: We did this (after much deliberation and concern) during Covid-19. Our baby was only 2.5 weeks old. We did an in-home shoot. She came to us. Prior to the shoot, she explained how cautious she is and how she sanitizes everything and prioritizes the baby's safety first. Having completed the shoot, she definitely did. She was respectful of our concerns and did not take anything personally at all. Of course, we all wore masks and she confirmed that she asks her clients about their exposure and any symptoms they could be experiencing. It was comforting to know she checked in with other clients and was open and transparent with us. She brought her own props that were cleaned but we mostly used our own. If she had not taken these precautions, or another vendor had done less, I can say that we definitely would not have gone ahead with the shoot, but she made us comfortable during a difficult time.
