Marcela is an amazing photographer. She is a true artist, who is warm empathetic, and thoughtful while still being incredibly detail-oriented and professional. We went to her for our son's newborn session last year. We were still coming out of pandemic mode and were so worried about taking baby anywhere, especially with him being so small and vulnerable. I promise you, no one else can be as sweet and gentle with your newborn than Marcela. As a new mom, I was a bit apprehensive about someone other than myself and my husband handling our 3-week old baby but Marcela made us feel incredibly safe and comfortable in her clean and beautiful studio. Our appointment was at the beginning of January 2021 so fears about Covid were still high. She sanitized the studio right before we arrived. We were asked to remove our shoes and wash our hands. She allowed me to nurse baby Quinn for as long as she needed. When we were ready to start, she sanitized her hands and held BBQ with such loving sweetness. Each article of clothing was delicately placed on her tiny 7 pound body. Even when BBQ was sleepily fussing, Marcela was so patient while utilizing her soothing tactics. We learned a few tricks that day! Once she got BBQ comfortable, it was bam bam bam- the flow was the epitome of a pro at work. Marcela was so smooth with each step- changing BBQ, setting her up, snapping shots, adjusting minute details, and even sanitized her hands before touching Quinn every single time. We could not be more impressed by how this newborn photoshoot went. Of course, the images turned out beautifully as well. We met Marcela at the SF Birth and Baby Fair and fell in love with her work and personality instantly. From the many photographers we came across that day, she was by far the nicest and most passionate about her work. This review is so long overdue..lets just say I'm back to work from maternity leave and Marcela did my Maternity Shoot AND newborn pictures! Lets start with the Maternity Shoot: A friend of mine posted some beautiful photos of her maternity shoot and I asked about the photographer. She highly recommended Marcela so I reached out to her. She was very quick to get back to me and very friendly on the phone. We decided on the location and date and we were set. I met up with Marcela and her assistant Irma who was also very friendly at Baker Beach and I had such a great experience. They were very hands on, patient, and with such a positive attitude that they immediately made me feel comfortable! When i got the pictures back i was floored. They were so beautiful! I went with the "a la carte" option which is the option where you pay a flat fee for the photo shoot and later on you meet with Marcela so she can show you the pictures and you pick and choose what you want. She had so many products to choose from from photobooks to canvas'. I chose what I wanted and got the pictures within 2 weeks. I was so satisfied with her work as well as her customer service that I knew I wanted her to shoot my baby's newborn pictures. Newborn Photoshoot: At 6 weeks postpartum Marcela took my baby's pictures in the comfort of my home. She punctual and brought beautiful props in the color schemes we discussed previously. My baby would not go to sleep as hard as we BOTH tried but she went ahead with the photo session with the baby wide awake and captured the most beautiful photos! Eventually the baby fell asleep so she was able to capture her sleeping as well. Just like the first session, Marcela came back after a week or 2 to show me the photos and I picked the products that I wanted. I was surprised to see that she also offered jewelry as so of course I had to get something. So in conclusion my experience with Marcela was EXCELLENT! I love her work and she's very easy to work with which was very important to me. Marcela is the absolute BEST! As first time parents, we were looking for an experienced newborn photographer with an artistic flair. Marcela did not disappoint! She is truly an artist and really knows how to handle newborns. What can I say... Marcela is simply amazing at what she does! As a fellow photographer myself, safety and creativity were my two main concerns when I decided that we were going to book a newborn session for our daughter, and Marcela sure did deliver! We have loved working with Marcela over the last 2.5 years. Marcela did our maternity pictures for our first daughter and then did her newborn pictures after she was done.
