They all offer their own special way of preparing Chinese food that generally tastes very different than what we found on our 2025 trip to mainland China. I'll pass on writing much about our experience at Uncle Chong's and hope you look up the previous post. The pictures were added incorrectly so I inserted new versions. Both dishes were served with a smile and very generous servings! However, the four shrimp in the kung pao and the very limited amount of vegetables in the chow mien was a disappointment. Still, we encourage traveler's to stop and dine in small family run restaurants when on the road.

The place is clean and everybody was friendly. The food is on a cafeteria type line, you just pick out what you want, and then they serve it to you and you take it to your table. I can't speak to the main dishes, themselves, as I just came in for a Boba tea. I did see that they also had wontons on the line, so I also did an order of wontons as a snack. The wontons were wonderfully crispy, and not greasy at all, and they were very generous with the portion. I liked the sweet-and-sour sauce, it was sweet and just a little bit tangy. I had the Matcha milk tea, it was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. It's hard to describe the flavor of Matcha, but I do like it. It was a bit sweet, and just a bit savory. They asked me if I wanted the Boba pearls, which I did because I like them a lot, and they were very generous with them. A milk tea and an order of wontons was only nine bucks. Extremely reasonable. I ordered the lunch special ( it was to go but I like to see and sample the food first). Thank goodness I did..the soup was oily and chewey and not edible. I gave it back to her with my concerns but she said nothing. The fried rice looked like it had been recooked a few times ..gross! The chicken dish had a few pieces of meat with what looked like expired vegetables! I saw past reviews and should have known better. Never again! Ps..kept some of the food in case I get sick so they can see what I ate. Paid in full and left feeling nauseous.

The happy family tofu was absolutely delicious, and I loved the way the fried bean curd soaked up the sauce. There were plenty of veggies in the dish like baby corn, snap peas, and bamboo shoots. The gentleman working the counter was the nicest employee I've ever encountered. I ordered my food to go because they were close to closing time and we had a conversation going in and I told him I was from Reading and it was still in our way and he said please eat here stay as long as you like. So I did. Now, I knew they were closing in a few minutes and I didn't want to waste their time so I ate fairly quickly without rushing and I was out right when they closed. Part of me felt guilty for that, but he was so nice that he made me not feel that bad about it even gave me a free ice tea for the road. I only had four dollars cash on me at the moment, (list of courses after I tipped him for the food with my card) and he told me that tips are pretty rare there, and he was very grateful for the four bucks. I will definitely go back. On my way home from work probably once a month I wish it were more.

It's not really THAT bad inside ... been in worse Mexican restaurant where I thought I really WAS in Mexico! Upon entering, you will find a large Buddha stacked with offerings. I ordered the sesame chicken dinner combo and I will say the dinner portion is large enough to feed two adults at least in my household! This has become our weekly takeout spot since moving to the area. My only reason for giving them four stars is because they're only open Tuesday through Sunday.
