C Roy & Sons Meat Packers - Meat order loaded in my freezer

As part of their process, C Roys dry ages the meat fourteen days before processing it, which tenderizes the meat and then cuts/packages the meat per the customers personal desires which in my case was to have a steak heavy package. Aside from the numerous steaks I received, my package also included roasts, stewing meat, ground beef, Brisquet and soup bones where I am probably forgetting some of the other cuts. Each cut of meat was packaged individually with cut/date/weight info on the packaging where the ground beef was packaged in 1 lb tubes per my instructions. Realtive to the custom nature of their processing, my order included the types of steak I was looking for, thickness of the cuts of meats, bone in bone out, which roasts I wanted, stewing meat over being included in ground beef, inclusion of soup bones in order, weight of the ground beef tubes and other assorted details. This custom processing was very important to me as my wife and I are empty nesters where we share steaks and eat smaller portions. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with the process of dealing with C Roys and of buying my meat local and avoiding the crap the meat industry puts in store bought beef to include steroids and antibiotics. Total cost of the beef purchase and processing was roughly $6 lb based on the end amount of processed meat which is definately budget friendly way of getting your meat provided you have a big freezer. Considering the cost for steaks these days and the quality of the meat I received and custom nature of this business I highly recommend going this route where C Roys and Sons is a great processing option. Two thumbs up and a hearty five Stars where I will definately be returning to C Roys and Sons in the future!

It's a bit on the spendy side but it's well worth it. It is fact the reason behind Yale's baloney festival which the town has every year. Can't really say much about the business itself from my standpoint but the locals just love it. Get yourself some sandwich ring baloney you will really like it. I have also now that I think of it had their smoked hot dogs and they were very good too.

There is nothing fancy about Brookwood. This is just a really great farm along a quiet country road that has belonged to the same family for over a century. Come here if you are looking for a peaceful day spent picking fruit or for a short stop to buy delicious donuts, apples, and cider. An oversized Homer Simpson doll welcomes you as you enter the store. A very kind young woman was working there the day I visited and she told me that the orchards were opened. Other than the orchards there is only the small store. Again, nothing fancy, but what matters is the quality of the products which I thought was excellent. There isn't hot apple cider but there is cold apple cider in the fridge and a slushie machine where you can fill your own slushie cup for $2. The cup provided was twice as large as the slushie I bought at Franklin Cider Mill for a whopping $4. I could tell that there are no preservatives added to Brookwood's cider. The cider was excellent and perhaps some of the best I have tasted, and I've been to a lot of cider mills this season. I will definitely return to Brookwood and continue to support this family business.

The price of essentials like dairy, baked goods and produce are set unobtainably high. Also, many times the produce is close to it shelf life limit. The outliers, though, practically offset these negatives. One is the exceptional service. The staff is attentive and courteous. Second, the deli has good salads and delicious chicken--always fresh. Finally, the meat department works extra hard to meet requests. I cook continental style and often need beef and pork cut to fit the recipe needs. The meat cutter graciously accommodate my requests. The meats are competitively priced and well aged. It has never had foul odor and I have shopped there since the nineties. As a postscript, Mike Vinckier was an honest, funny and personable proprietor his presence is truly missed.

You will spend a ton of money here and I do mean a lot if you get a grocery cart full of items. It's almost to the point of a rip off. I know groceries have went up in times past but my goodness sakes. You can't even get a double pack of hot pockets for under $5.00. On the flipside they do have have some decent sales that you can shop if you want but I'd personally go someplace else and get a better bang for your buck. Problem is that they the only place in town and they know it and can subsequently hold the town hostage with such high prices. Thats why a lot of people just go to Port Huron and get groceries now. They do have a small meat cutters area there so you can get fresh meat if you want to pay for it. I have always had good customer service there with the exception of a couple of cashiers that obviously could have cared less about you as a customer. Oh well. I'm not saying stay away but you will pay a lot here.
