Stopped in earlier this week and now getting around to a review. I'm in the midst of whole house renovation of 1940s home and have a number of lighting needs. I visited a prominent lighting store in Modesto, but I was never acknowledged or helped. "Des" Desiree assisted me and I bought a beautiful bathroom light and lighted fan. I'm going back to pick up a few of their upgraded and stylist electric plug plates and light switches for a couple of rooms where standard white just doesn't enhance the decor, so want the upgrade. I'm looking forward to working with Des more to figure out the rest of my lighting needs, as she was very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. I'm from French Camp and glad I'm keeping my money local especially when there's good customer service. read more

Manteca Lighting owner Chris came to service our kitchen lighting with upgraded LED units. We are happy with the promptness and professional work done by Chris. He had to make an additional trip for correcting the problem developed by two LED units. He did that with a smile and did not charge for his trip. Fair amount of lighting to look at. The two sales associates provided me with several catalogs to look through after I told them what I wanted in a chandelier . They also suggested several styles. It's hard to decide from a catalog and they didn't have a color sample of the chandelier I wanted. If it wasn't what I expected after receiving it, there's a restocking fee of 25%. What bothered me was that the two sales associates were not wearing masks to protect customers from COVID. My husband and I both had masks on but I would have felt more comfortable shopping there if they both wore masks. During this time, I would not return to shop there. read more

Purchased a great fan from Manteca Lighting. Called an electrician we have used in the past to install it. Once installed, the fan wall switch wasn't working. Electrician tested everything, and all seemed to be in order. Thinking the fan/switch was defective, I called Manteca Lighting and spoke to Desiree. She said it could be a programming issue. Had electrician contact Manteca Lighting to see if issue could be resolved. Long story short, Chris (store owner) came out to the house and figured out/corrected the problem in 15 minutes. The electrician had crossed the wires. It took Chris longer to drive to our home in Tracy than it did to fix the fan. Any time I need a new fan, I will be going to Manteca Lighting. Was wanting to purchase a ceiling fan, asked for help and young woman behind counter not helpful in any way. Did not step up to help, answered all questions with only a yes or no, asked no questions of me, simply acted as if she was bored and rude. I asked if I purchased a fan here could they send some to help with installation and was told "no" again. No explanation. When I asked why she said, "my electrician is busy so we are no longer offering that service." No apology, no referral, no suggestions.....just a NO. I left the store without making a purchase. I was very shocked and appalled by the experience. I didn't share my feelings with anyone because it wouldn't have been worth the negative energy. I have done business with Manteca Lighting for years and always had great service and have always been pleased. The last time I was there was about 5 yrs ago and after this experience last week, I will never go in to this store again. read more

I had a 100 year old hanging ceiling lamp that desperately needed restoration and rewiring. I phoned first and spoke to Chris, the guy that does their repair work. I took the fixture in that afternoon, spoke to Chris, who gave me great advice as to using period wiring (that is new) so as to keep the authenticity of the lamp correct. I got a call the next morning (less than 24 hours later) that the rewiring/clean up was done. I was extremely pleased with the finished result. The price was very reasonable. Staff not very helpful at all the day we went, and we were ready to buy. Went down the street to Hafer's, and they helped us out.

We bought two fans and had to return one of them due to an obnoxious noise the fan was making. Returning it back to the store, it was insinuated that the installation was flawed and did not want to exchange it for a different fan. They relented and allowed the exchange. I am now sitting in my family room some time later and the fan that replace the original is making the same obnoxious noise. I would not purchase from Manteca Lighting again! read more
