I've been investing with Fidelity for over a decade…read more My pension from another job is held and managed through them and my current employer 401k is as well. I've opened a few other investment accounts through them in the past few years and have worked with some of their wealth management advisors to come up with a game plan. I am not the kind of person who spends hours researching or reviewing stocks. Nor do I want to be. So I appreciate the Fidelity tools and website that provide information and analysis. Their app is easy to use. The website is also easy. And trading and selling stocks and transferring money around from outside accounts is easy as pie. Today, I met with my new advisor, Josh in their new shiny Virginia Beach office right across the street from West Elm. First, the inside is spotless and modern with iPads and brochures and tons of seating. I was offered a coffee or tea while I waited. Parking is easy with a few parallel street spots in front or the garage across the street with free two-hour parking. Josh listened, he took notes, he reviewed my accounts and we discussed my goals for investment, retirement and growth. I have some homework and we plan to meet again to discuss. Overall, I'm very happy with this initial meeting and the new location in Town Center is easy and convenient! Prior to this their closest office location was Richmond.

Not one manager has attempted to call me back. Trying to steal about $9000 from me. On the fifth call they told me oh you need to fill out the application. I didn't fill out an application for you to take my money. I closed an account with Robert Hancock two days after my first call to Fidelity. I got that money last week no problem. Fidelity is stealing. Still no manager has contacted me. Calling the BBB.

I would recommend her to anyone who needs to get their taxes done and wants to save money. Even if you do your own taxes, I would recommend going to her at least once because she will likely be able to inform you of deductions you may not know you can use to save you more money when you do them yourself the following years. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star review is because she showed up about 10 minutes late and then I had to wait another 10 minutes before going in to get started, not to mention she was chewing and popping her gum (a BIG pet peeve of mine) while she was doing my taxes and I was sitting across from her, which I thought was pretty unprofessional and tacky. Now I will admit I was 10 minutes late myself because I had a doctors appointment right before my appointment to get my taxes done that took longer than expected. However, I did tell them when I scheduled the appointment the week before that I had to see the doctor that morning and that there was a small possibility I would be a few minutes late. I also called to let them know I would be a few minutes late and got an answering machine to which I left a message, but I did not receive a call from anyone that Nikia was running late. Just being honest and giving my compliments and suggestions, but no harm done and overall Nikia did a great job and I was very happy.

Fitzwilliams Financial recently took over VA Bookkeeping. We have been clients of VA Bookkeeping…read morefor well over 20 years. We were told last year that Fitzwilliams Financial took it over as well as combined their already established financial company. From the very beginning the entire staff made things very transparent to us that it would take some time to reorganize everything and they were true to their word. They are very professional. They take every email, every call, every visit seriously and continue to put us first with every concern of ours, big or small. The owner of Fitzwilliams Financial even threw a Client Appreciation BBQ this past summer for all clients, new and old, to come together and meet all the employees. I was happy to hear they recently moved location to Chesapeake. I am very happy to be with them.

We initially met with a CPA at the firm around mid-March to discuss our tax return. During the appointment, she explained that it might be too late to complete our filing by the April 15 deadline, which we completely understood. She assured us that she would file an extension on our behalf, and she did follow through with that. However, after that appointment, we heard absolutely nothing regarding the status of our return. As October 15 approached, we became concerned and I called the firm on October 14 to ask for an update. To my surprise, the receptionist who answered laughed and casually informed me that our original CPA no longer worked there and that our case should have been reassigned to another CPA. Unfortunately, that reassignment had apparently never taken place, and no one had contacted us to let us know that our case had been left without an assigned preparer. As clients, we trusted this firm to manage our tax matters and keep us informed throughout the process. Instead, we were left to discover on our own, just one day before the extension deadline, that our case had seemingly fallen through the cracks. Tax matters are time-sensitive, and clients should not have to chase down a firm for updates or worry about whether their case has simply been forgotten because an employee left the company. I understand that staffing changes happen, but ensuring that existing clients are properly transitioned and that their cases continue to be handled should be a basic responsibility of any professional firm. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling overlooked, frustrated, and disappointed in the firm's lack of communication and client management. I hope the firm takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements so that other clients do not have to experience the same situation.
