I decided to go to Manolo today with a couple of friends that were visiting Miami. We arrived around 6:30PM. I must say that we were very pleased with the service and food. We were a party of 7 - 5 adults and 2 children. We all ordered different things... milanesa with fries, hamburger with fries, salad, ribs and fries, and two kids meals (milanesa and hot dog). Everybody got exactly what they ordered. The service was very nice and proper and the food was delivered in time matter. My husband ordered a coffee to finish plus an ice cream for my son. The total was $110 dollars. It was very very worth it! Plus very cheap for the amount of people and quality of the food! We were very pleased. My friends had a great time. I had spicy beef and chicken. Some of the best I have had. Salmon salad was low side of average. Blue cheese burger was the same. Ice cream dessert was a large portion 2 big scoops for 7$ seemed good but it wasn't the highest quality. Rogel cake was overly sweet and disappointing. Does size matter? Well when it's the only thing you've got going for you it does. Manolo's is that nice looking, tall manly- man that's dumber than a box of rocks. His menu is bevvy of activity and like that handsome, ADHD, manly-man it just doesn't get the job done. I started off with a large "cafe con leche" It tasted more like a "dirty sock with water" I dunno about you but just because it's big, I'm not gonna drink a dirty water sock. For my meal, I ordered a croissant with ham and cheese and while it was the size of a human head and as sticky as a sticky bun, it left much to be desired. Speaking of head, The name of this place is Manolo's, which is total slang for "hand-job". and a hand job is what you deserve after you get your bill as the prices are a little stiff. No happy endings here, just a sad bitch slap for having wasted your time and hard -earned cash. Craving a decent lunch and feeling desperate enough to go to Burger King, a friend instead suggested going to Manolo's. He said prices were decent and the food was pretty casual, so off we went. We parked at the 72nd and Collins lot and walked the few steps it took to arrive. Wow, it was PACKED! I did not expect that, and apparently, neither did my friend, as he said it's normally not like that, but we later realized there was a soccer game, so that explained the large crowds. Despite the crowds, service was pretty good. My friend ordered a spinach salad and I got the Caprese sandwich, which contained basil, prosciutto, and mozzarella cheese. The food arrived quickly, and the waiter hovered around a few times. The sandwich was pretty good, it had thick chunks of fresh mozzarella and the prosciutto was lean. The basil was also fresh, not wilted. It came in a baguette-type of sandwich and hit the spot, though I do like my bread a bit more crunchy. My friend thought his salad was ok, it had chunks of heart of palm, though it did not come with dressing, so I think that disappointed him a bit as he thought he had read that the salad came with their homemade dressing. Though they're known for their churros, we ended up going for the gelato for dessert, which was a solid choice. He got the chocolate dulce de leche, which was quite rich, and I got the chocolate almond. They have a decent variety of flavors and they have small spoons that allow you to sample the different flavors. The prices at Manolo's are not shockingly cheap nor are they overpriced -- a sandwich will set you back about $8-$10, and so will a salad, so decent food and decent prices make it "A-OK!" I do want to point out that they automatically add a gratuity, but it's 15%, so don't overtip! They also deliver, in case you're wanting to spend the night at home. Do take the time to take in their aquariums, set up in the middle of the restaurant. They're pretty cool, and if you have some time, cross the street and walk along the beachside condos and restaurants on Collins, take in the breeze, and walk off your meal. A few weeks ago, the sweet BF treated me to dessert at Manolo as a thank you for cleaning up his accounting. We had eaten dinner down the block at Soy del Peru and decided to take home a dessert from Manolo. It was a tough decision! The dessert case is loaded with all kinds of confections and as an avowed sugar whore, I wanted to sample one of everything! We finally decided on a slice of chocolate cake with caramel in between the layers, and an alfajor cookie. The ladies at the counter were neutral - not overly friendly but not rude. My only complaint here is that the dessert case is right where you order and pay, so the area is not that conducive to browsing the treats. Once we got the goodies home and dived in, I was very satisfied! I believe that cake is just a vehicle for frosting, and the frosting and filling were tops! Unctious and velvety while not being overly sweet. The cake was a bit dry, but cake is not that important to me. The alfajor was very dry, but I suspect they don't make that in-house as it came in a plastic bag. Last night, we ordered real food. We have basically given up on delivery in North Beach, so we phoned in the order and it when I arrived there about 25 minutes later, it was waiting for me. Bonus is that parking is a breeze with a huge lot right across the street. +1 on the convenience of the pick up experience! We ordered a spinach pie, a cheese and onion empanada, a shrimp pizza and a spinach pizza. The pizzas were good - nice flavor, plenty of topping, but the crust was odd - kind of thick and tough. Not a huge deal breaker, but it definitely inhibited the consumption of more than one or 2 slices. The spinach pie was also good - it came with an unadvertised hard boiled egg in the middle, which was a pleasant surprise. It did seem like it could use a bit more heating, and it needed salt, but we still ate the whole thing. The real star was the empanada! It tasted like a pierogi, but encased in pastry! Melty, flavorful, savoury! Wow! I am definitely ordering more of these next time. Way more! All in all a good value for solidly good food - our order was $24.50 and we will get another meal at least out of it. read more

I've been to this place about 3 times, what keeps me coming back is the ginormous 20 layer Dulce Leche miloja cake (its probably not 20 layers but it sure looks like it!) It's was a wet and cloudy Sunday morning. I kid. It was raining a bit so my friend and I decided to get something better than fast food and new. So we went here based on the fact that the locale has been here for ages and it was full of people. We waited about 2 minutes to be seated. Our server for the most part was attentive. My dinner companion had the bacon wrapped foot long hot dog and I had The Complete. The Complete is just a steak sand. with ham, cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and eggs in Milanese style bread (I think). The steak on the sandwich was a thin piece of meat and not pieces or chunks. Actually, all of the meats in the sandwich were sliced. The bread was fresh and warm. Overall a good experience. However, it is not really worth the $15 they charge for it. The hot dog was flavorful and grilled. The Good: - The place is big with a good view of Miami Beach. - Their menu has just about everything. The Bad: - Certain things are expensive for what they are. - Server could have been a little bit more attentive. * I forgot the style of bread they used in my sandwich. Miami beach has a shortage of food options, however this place somewhat solves that problem. I came here with a few of my friends and we all had the similar impressions. The food was exceptional except of the entrée I got (canolini manolo). 5/5 to the sangria 5/5 to the Churros and awesome bread. Prices were slightly high. Beware of this place people. Managers are a joke and many employees are not qualified either. I went today for a coffee and i saw a manager using while milk. Since i requested skim milk, i asked him if it was mine. Hr said "yes". So i told him that it was skim milk what i want. He replied: How do you know this is yours? I told him that i just asked if that was mine and he replied yes. To make story short, he kept going with an attitude and delivered the coffee with filth. Then, after i served myself sugar, i went to talk to him. Attitude was still there. I asked what was his problem and he replied that i was the one with a problem. Right away he told me as he owned the place that i can't go in no more and cursed me calling me a c*** sucker. I cursed him back and told him right away to come outside. He followed me to the door playing to be tough in front of his coworkers, hilariously it was just to the door. He didn't come out. There was another clown, a fat kid with eye glasses pretending he wanted to fight me and it was the same. The only thing left for him to say was: "Hold me back, hold me back". He never came out. And the other manager instead of solving the issue, fell into the mistake to say: this is a private business. A business that "is not his business". It is not the first time that i see this type of answer from people that is not aware of the United States Customer Service System. This people are not qualified to run any type of business and i really wonder: Where is the owner while his business is getting destroyed by this mediocre and unaware people that call themselves managers? This guys can just quit and find a job somewhere else. They don't really care. It is your business the one that is getting affected. And let me tell you something, it is not even the employees. Churros! 'Nuff said. They offer o a full menu, but I mostly go for the churros and alfajores. Good place!

I never tried their food but the bakery was amazing. Their bakery is tucked in at the end of their restaurant area. There is a counter filled with delicious baked goods. Their cakes are very fresh. I noticed their lemon tart was completely finished and they moved on to a second one in one day. Now for churros: they have the best churros I have had in my life. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The sugar coating is the perfect amount, and they are always warm when they give them to you. Also, they are extremely cheap! It's about 90 cents for their cream-filled ones and 75 cents for regular ones. So cheap yet so delicious! I tried their chocolate, caramel, and cream filled churros. Loved the caramel one (this one was a tad bit sweeter than the cream filling), the cream one was also really good. The chocolate was at the bottom of my list out of these three, though it was still way better than the churros I have had before. I also tried their creme brulee which was heavenly, and again extremely cheap. For $4 you get a big slice of it and it is so creamy and sweet and delicious that I can't stop thinking about it! The staff are also super friendly. We went back to this bakery every day during our stay at Miami, some days 2-3 times, to get their churros, and I wished I had gone even more often now that I am back in Toronto. Okay, of the churrerias Las Palmas and Churros Manolo... Las Palmas' churros are FAR MUCH MORE SUPERIOR than Churros Manolo. They were made fresh, on the spot, thick, and long. It was crunchy on the outside, and soft in the inside, having a delicate balance between the two. Churros Manolo on the other hand disappointed me. It was NOT made fresh - but a batch of already-made churros was kept under the heating lamp. They probably would taste better had they had been made fresh. I had the plain ones and the stuffed ones. The ones stuffed with dulce de leche made it better, but it still wasn't fresh. I wouldn't go back to Churros Manolo for the churros or ice cream (they use Dolce Vita, and Dolce Vita has its own ice cream shop just a few blocks away in Normandy Isles) but for the other goods. With the disaster at Churros Manolo, I'm sure Churromania is a much better establishment for churros as I cannot imagine Churromania keeping their namesake churros under heating lamp. I have yet to verify this though. So if you want stuffed churros or are just too far from Las Palmas for the original ones, look for Churromania at one of the malls. Still kicking myself for staying when I knew I should have gotten up and left. I used to like coming here but what a mess this place has become. 45 minutes after sitting the food finally arrives after repeated excuses about staff changes between 4 and 5pm. Tell me that before I sit down, not 45 minutes after ordering and then deliver COLD food (literally meat was like rubber). The waiters don't care, the manager could care less, and my specific waiter kept wiping and blowing his nose from an obvious cold. Between him and another one sneezing I would never eat here again since I watched them handle condiments and food. Manager Walter... heads up, if a waiter shows up sick you send them home. First and last place I visit when traveling to Miami! Absolutely worth it every time. If you happen to go during the day from M-F it will not be crowded, but go on a Saturday or Sunday you will find a full house. With that being said service has always been great, very attentive and the best part is the food comes out very quickly. Parking is right across the street (good luck on a weekend) & of course their is parallel parking on the street. I usually go for their sandwiches, which in my opinion are so simple yet packed with flavor. I also get their delicious milk shakes, their strawberry one is the best (I know basic). Their latte's are great as well. I end my dining with maybe one, two, three churros.. somehow I always have room for them. I ordered the American combo for 7,75 which consisted of a choice of eggs (fried or scrambled) bacon and home made fries, an order of bread (toast or baguette or white bread), butter and jam. Also included a glass of freshly pressed orange juice and coffee with milk. Good deal for only 7,75. The other day we were craving something sweet and I had a couple of churros (custard, chocolate and caramel). My girl had a slice of lemon pie that was incredibly huge and tasty. also a banana shake that tasted fresh and like real banana, too! The place is big and a lot of screens show sports events, mostly Latin American soccer games as it is the qualifying for the Copa Americana, I think but am not sure... The filling is NOT chocolate or dulce de leche, but chocolate and dulce de leche flavored pastry cream. The churro itself is pretty good, but if you order the plain churro, it's a bit dry. Price: Overall the prices here are really good. You can get empenadas for a couple of bucks to huge sandwiches with fries for $8-10. Their pastas run upwards of $15.00 and steaks around $25.00. My daughter got the kids hot dog and this is the part that REALLY annoyed me. A drink comes with the kids meal and they ONLY allow soda. I'm not giving my 5 year old soda. What is the management thinking??? Offer milk or juice!!!!!!!!!! We finished with the churros which were quite good. We tried the custard, dulce de leche and the chocolate. I preferred the Dulce de leche then the custard. Ambiance: The restaurant is casual and has a cafeteria feel to it even though it's not a cafeteria style. It is very clean with tons of seating. Recap: I would come back due to the food, the portions and the price. Management really needs to do something about the servers, they're dreadful.
