While food is okay at best, the quality is GROSS. Not to mention the person serving the food didn't wear her mask properly and she didn't wear gloves when handling my debit card. This used to be my favorite teriyaki place near my house. It was only a 10 min walk away, so I used to frequent here quite often. The staff have always been friendly, food fast, a tasty quick bite I would have recommended... until now. This is the third, THIRD time this year I have gotten sick after eating here. The first time I wrote it off as a coincidence, and eventually gave it another chance. The second time, I really started having my doubts... And now, after waiting many more months thinking it was safe to try again, same deal. The food tastes slightly off, I lose my appetite, then a day or so after eating and I have food poisoning. ...So a hangry person walks into a restaurant...hangry person walks up to the counter to place an order. Hangry person stands at counter for a couple of minutes before anyone acknowledgeds them. Finally a women behind the counter said hello and asked if hangry person could wait a minute. Hangry person said sure. Several more minutes go by and the phone rings. She answers it and someone places an order that she takes and gives to the cook. She then says to hangry person, how can I help you? Hangry person places thier order which is now behind the person who called in. Note #1. Call order in!!! Note #2. The prices on the board are not the prices they charge you. It appeared some menu items had a $2.00 price difference from what thier menu showed and what she charged you. Note #3. She took off her face mask and kept it off. This might be a deal breaker, depending on how you feel regarding a pandemic. Note #4 Interesting side note: men where acknowledged quicker and thier orders were served quicker. I swear, one poor lady was gonna close the restaurant with them. Dont know if this is normal or just how this night rolled? Food was OK. Pricey with that extra $2.00 surprise charge. Not sure if that was like a HOV lane thing; the more demand and busy the more the price goes up? Dually noted: staff was friendly and hard working. But then again so am I and I dont have time or $$$ to waste to come back and see if Note #3 was a fluke or not. read more

I visited this place just because my usual teriyaki place was closed temporarily. I went in. I saw a lady standing at the counter. We had eye contacts but I was never greeted nor asked for help. She behaved like she saw nobody and disappeared into the kitchen. Moment later, one customer walked in behind me. The lady who disappeared earlier showed up and started to chat with this customer. Apparently they were friends. I waited for quite a long til someone who seemed to be the owner finally noticed me. I ordered.. no smile, no one nice word from any of the working crew. I waited for 25 minutes for my food. A new cashier appeared later n told me since my order comes with rolls it usually takes about 20 minutes. I didn't expect to wait that much to get some teriyaki. I dropped by for a quick to go lunch before picking up my kid. I told her it would have been a lot helpful if they let me know ahead. Actually this time the lady who took my order and didn't mention anything about waiting more than 20 mins. was right next to me chatting with the same customer friend. She was listening to my whole conversation with the cashier, but she didn't bother to say any one word about it while the poor cashier kept apologizing to me. I had to rush to pick up my kid. One more really weird and unpleasant thing. Right after I ordered, I sat down in the chair in front of the counter. The lady who had eye contacts with me and never greeted me earlier came out of the kitchen into the customer order zone with her arms crossed. She turned back and looked up at the menu board above the counter and started to walk back casually. She kept walking back slowly and got so close to me that her butt was right in my face. Even one of her legs touched mine! I ahemed and changed my position hoping she would notice, but she continued. I finally stood up and moved to other chair making big sighs. I felt her gaze was upon me, but so quick to go back up to the menu and didn't even bother to figure out what she had done!! I will never forget her blunt face. Really unpleasant experience. The food; overall, nothing impressive, salad looked like a mess with the dressing already on. They should put the dressing on the side for to go orders. I saw they served their food in a to go box. I had a regular teriyaki place near my house in Shoreline, and it always sufficed, but the last time I went there it was a little on the dry side, so I searched for other teriyaki places near my house, and stumbled upon this one, which got rave reviews, so I knew I had to try it to see if it really was the best teriyaki ever. A billion years ago, right after the sun cooled down and Seinfeld was still on the air (and people still used the phrase 'on the air'), I dated a really cute ballerina who lived in Shoreline and we often took the drive out to Manna Teriyaki to get what could possibly be the best chicken teriyaki in the entire universe (and possibly other universes nearby should they exist and should chicken teriyaki exist within them). We always got it to go. The people were nice and the food was fantastic. Now I'm dating a different cute ballerina (notice a pattern here?) and we live in Seattle so the drive to Edmonds is no longer viable. I also no longer eat meat. This is a great place with good food. The best part is it's only minutes away from me. I really like the spicy chicken and unlike some places they don't mess around with the spicyness. I love it!!!! My wife really enjoys the beef yakisoba which is her favorite dish. They have a good variety on their menu from teriyaki, sushi, combination dishes, yakisoba and other chinese dishes. They also offer gyoza, egg rolls and kimshi on the side. Their prices range from $5.99 to $15, so it pretty cheap. They are very fast in preparing my food and my stomach is always left happy. Yes, it is true. The most redeeming quality of Manna Teriyaki is the fact that they are open on Sunday. My favorite place in Shoreline was closed, so I came here. The large chicken Teri was OK, size wise and price wise. The sauce is very, very sweet, which some may really like- i prefer mine less sweet. The egg rolls I ordered were from a box/bag. I have yet to find a Teriyaki restaurant that makes their own gyoza/eggrolls from scratch, and I really wonder why that is. I will definitely come here again, it would make it easier if they had to-go menus readily available- I didnt see any, but only if it's a Sunday and I'm in the neighborhood. We were going to go to subway but I saw manna right next door and was like "ooh I want teriyaki!" Having no clue about the place or whether it was good, me and my hub went in for a try. I got the yakisoba with tofu and hubby got sweet and sour pork. Rare choices for us both. I usually get salmon and him, general tso's. anyways he really liked his and I loved my soba. Our first stop off off the airplane back in the NW after many years! My husband & I were weekly visitors to Manna in 1990-93 and then again 1998-2000 when we moved back to the area. Blockbuster used to be in the same complex and it was very convenience and inexpensive to grab movies and dinner on the weekend after kids games. I'm not a Teriyaki connoisseur but the Teriyaki sauce at Manna is so good. Typical order for me is the spicy chicken and it tasted the same as it always has! Tender, sweet, and delicious! I wish we had a place like this in KC. Manna will always be a stop when we visit home. read more

I've been going here sine the early 2000s and this place always goes back and forth with quality. But they are consistent and great when you look then up on the health inspector county site. I am very happy with them at this time. They served me even tho I came in right at closing on the dot. I was just turned away from the other place across the street cause they were closed 5 minutes before closing time. Your food is great and you guys have good service. Definitely not a good experience. I have been to this establishment multiple times, have had great service, and the food has been generally been pretty good. But I just came back from this establishment and probably won't be back again. I went in for a to go order of chicken stir fry and gyoza. Simple order and it was ready when I got there. When it was time to pay she repeated the order to me which was chicken fried rice and gyoza. Which was was wrong. When I mentioned it to her she just proceeded to tell me that I was wrong over and over again. Its totally understandable that there was confusion because they do sound the same. But she did not even ask if I wanted them to remake my order or offer me any discounts on the price due to the mistake. I was just hungry and tired of talking about it so I just paid and left. When I got home the chicken fried rice wasn't even good. Such a waste of money. Such a simple mistake covered in bad customer service. I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Ok. I've had decent teriyaki here but tonight when the girl told me the Gen Tsao chicken smelled funny (as she handed it to me) I should have opened it. Used to frequent this place years ago so was nearby and decided to grab a bite. Went in & ordered take out for lunch. Sat down to eat only to find the chicken teriyaki was slightly under cooked (still some pink) without any seasoning and they didn't bother to include any teriyaki sauce on the chicken or as a small container in the box like every other place I've ever been. So, I had to finish cooking the chicken in the microwave (see ya later flavor) and go to buy a bottle of teriyaki sauce at the grocery store. I attempted to call them but the lady who answered didn't understand anything I said so that was bust. Manna teriyaki is the best teriyaki I've had in a minute, and I'm not just saying that. The reason they're not your basic teriyaki? You wait a little longer for your food, but it's so worth it. Plus you know your food's going to be fresh(hence the wait).Teriyaki is usually my go-to dish when im out and I always choose Manna. A lot of other places in the Edmonds/Shoreline area you can tell they got their rice and meat just sitting out cooked because when I bite into it, it's extremely soggy. My favorite dish is the chicken teriyaki-katsu combo w/ heaping scoops of rice. Great portions, great spot, great price, great taste and I always would recommend eating out at Manna instead of other teriyaki spots in the area. It's better than sex... WAIT!! Let me explain why! I was visiting a friend of mine attending University of Washington and we used to have a small inside joke for things that were just downright undeniably amazing, better than the rest, cream of the crop sort of thing and we'd refer to them as "sexy" or "better than sex"; however, that was just that - a silly phrase. Starved and finally bored of catching up, we debated for hours (2 seconds) on where to eat (my treat). Since Asian food was agreed upon, he instantly mentioned this restaurant. I couldn't argue and there we were. I was almost turned off by what I saw... Its not too attractive of a place, but that's not the point here is it? We sat down to be greeted by this very cute waitress (might I even suggest 'sexy'?) whom, on closer inspection, could have only been 16 or 17 at the most (I"M ONLY 18). After much inquisition (or flirting), she had coaxed me into a dish of (what rung in my ears as 'delectable') spicy teriyaki chicken (hot? sweet? breasts? this place has it all). I have a history of quite disappointing "spicy" dishes before. This was not one of them however. It was just as spicy hot, as it was cold (i had to take it home to finish it). The sweetness reminded me of our waitress and the chicken reminded me of the words "chicken breast" which immediately clicked in my head as "This food is better than sex". I suppose it clicked in my head too loudly because not only my friend heard me, but even the people around me. My small amount of humiliation was quickly overturned after realizing that what i had said was more real than a silly statement. I took another bite only to come to the same conclusion again. My friend smiled as if expecting it and told me that was his thoughts exactly when he first came here. To this day, I still yearn for my Manna Spicy Teriyaki Chicken and I swear the next time I visit I will bring a better tip. read more

Manna My family and I have been going to Manna for years. I ordered 5 dinners tonight in anticipation of family coming over for dinner. When I got home, I discovered one of the meals was wrong. I had ordered a large spicy chicken teriyaki dinner and received a regular chicken teriyaki dinner. Since I had family over, I was hesitant to call and report the mistake, but I wanted what I initially ordered. I called Manna to report the mistake. They told me a new dinner would be ready in 15 minutes. I ate a few bites of my wrong dinner and got a call from Manna. They said they remember me ordering a regular teriyaki dinner. I told the lady on the phone, "I never order regular teriyaki, all I order is spicy." She told me they would still do it, but to bring back the dinner that was the mistake. My husband went up to Manna and gave them the old dinner. He then watched them scoop out the the chicken of my old dinner, proceed to throw it back on the grill and add the "spice" to it. I can't imagine this was an okay thing for them to do. Isn't this a health violation? I get that I took a few bites of my old dinner, but this is just wrong. This made me think of another situation I had at Manna some time ago. Before they switched over to their new style of punch cards, my husband had two cards in his wallet, one old and one new. He asked the owner to combine the two, which is not an unreasonable request and other businesses do it all the time. The owner refused. Said the one card was too old. She then laughed at him because he was confused as to why she wouldn't do it. She still refused to combine the cards. As he walked out the store he overheard her say, "ah, I piss him off." He hasn't been back since tonight to help me get the correct dinner. I have never written a restaurant review, but thought this needed to be said. I don't think I asked for anything crazy, I just wanted the meal I ordered. I don't think this type of behavior is okay. Am I wrong? read more

I've been coming to Manna for years now, as I used to live down the street. It is SOO good, the chicken is always tender and not dry. What is mostly dangerous is the manna roll. A deep fried sushi roll with cream cheese and amazing filling. Definitely a once-in-a-while indulge. The owner is very friendly and so is everyone else working there.
