In general, I dislike eating lobster in a restaurant as it is typically a snobby affair and I have yet to master eating and enjoying a lobster without having it all over me. But Den Beer is super informal, it is like you go to your grammy's house to eat. The owner is 78 years old, she is a real gem: fierce but welcoming. The food itself is why I keep on coming here and keep on wanting to come back: the lobster is just DELICIOUS. I've tried several styles over the years and all are finger licking good. The lobsters are always super juicy and cooked to perfection, it would be hard to pick my favorite style as all of them are the bomb but maybe the grilled flambe with whiskey has a slight edge in my book. I truly wish Gusje, the owner, a long life and good health as I will continue to come again and again!

Went to Isola Sarda for the third time, thats how brilliant it is!…read more I've taken different friends each time so this review speaks for four people. Great atmosphere. Welcomed in by a beautiful brick oven stove, friendly staff, and charming decor. Reminds me of an Italian restaurant in Manhattan. Not pretentious, simple, clean, and definitely worth remembering. I tend to steer clear of tourist trap restaurants in the busy De Keyserlei/ Central station area. However the location of the restaurant on Anneessensstraat 35 only adds to the appeal for me. Its very refreshing to find a truly good restaurant in such a busy area. The brick oven pizza is beautiful, fresh toppings and plenty to choose from so even my vegetarian friend was impressed with toppings like aubergine, artichoke, and gorgonzola to name only a few. The choice of salads were interesting and definitely had me curious to taste. I shared an antipasto, a pizza, and a carafe of house red wine with my friend We both left feeling pleased with our choices. She mentioned going back for a meal with her partner. Owners Daniel and Micky are wonderful hosts, its no wonder the place is always busy when I go!

One sandwich will cost you around €4.50 and you have so many options - my favorite is the bresaola on focaccia with olive oil and lemon juice and my husband always orders the vitello tonnato. If I'm not in the mood for sandwiches I'll order a slice of fresh pizza which goes for €2.50 for a quarter slice. Dinner: Where to begin! So many pastas and other dishes that you can take home to enjoy later for dinner. Often I will come by on a Friday and just buy a lot of meat, cheese, and olives to enjoy with a fresh loaf of ciabatta. With the leftovers I like to use them as toppings for homemade pizza the next evening. Il Pastaiola also boasts a great Italian wine offering to compliment your meal. Everything I've tried had been delicious! Don't forget that Fridays and Saturdays are super busy and you need to take a number. You also can find the menu online and call ahead if you're short on time!
