We first indulged in Australian antiques after relocating to Brisbane from San Diego around 1986. Manfred had some of the best pieces around, mostly bought from deceased estate sales. Beautiful timber chairs, dining tables, armoires and many unique items. But, sadly, the estate sales, mostly in the country, died down - no pun intended - as did the Millennial's interest in owning antique furniture. So, Manfred closed his original location and opened another business that specialised in repairing and restoring antique furniture. And that's gone now too. The reason for five stars is that, when he was trading, Manfred was the best in town; the most knowledgeable in Australian antiques. More modern times and a new generation simply got in his way and today you'll be hard pressed to find an antique store around Brisbane selling furniture.
