I have a home that is under construction in Palmetto, FL and I had a unique request to build a…read moredisplay case in the wall of my den that would be complete with glass shelving and sliding, lockable glass doors. This is a large case, but the job didn't seem too difficult for me, a relative novice, because I have one in my current home to display sports memorabilia items I've been collecting for 45 years. My builder was very confident that their glass company, Dynasty Glass & Mirror out of Palmetto could handle the job easily. We set up a meeting with Dynasty and right away I got an uncomfortable feeling as the owner's daughter showed up with a tech and I was not impressed with her at all- first, she proceeded to chomp very loudly on her gum while talking to me and that go old really quickly, and then she seemed to think the job was going to be very difficult. Finally, she told me there was no way I could do sliding doors because they would be too big, so she actually wanted me put either doors that I lift up (these doors would be 6' tall and 35" wide and I'm supposed to hold them up while adding items? Then her tech (he had some sense) suggested cabinet style doors, which I didn't like but they convinced me the job couldn't be done any other way. I reminded them these doors needed to lock and that seemed to cause a stir as well, and then the owner's daughter started showing me the hardware that she thought would work and it was all so big and clunky that I was totally discouraged and told my builder I wanted to talk to other glass companies before proceeding because I just felt like Dynasty didn't understand my needs and they weren't working too hard to find a solution. I got the name of Fox Mirror & Glass from another vendor and I called to make an appointment and was told they were booking a month out, so I decided to wait. The day before my appointment, someone from Fox called to tell me they would be there around 10 am. At 9:45, Ricky, the owner of this family owned business showed up. Within 3 minutes I just KNEW that Ricky got what I was looking to do. We were talking about the project and he was just sketching and within 5 minutes he showed me a drawing and said "Is this what you're looking for?"- and it was 100% exactly what I imagined. I asked him if it was going to be difficult and he just laughed and said "Not at all" and when I mentioned that my builder's preferred glass company really struggled with the concept, he just chuckled and said "I'm guessing it was Dynasty" and I didn't ask why he knew that because I immediately started worrying about the shower doors Dynasty was doing in my house. When I mentioned I needed the doors to lock, Ricky just said "No problem at all" and he described the lock he was thinking of and it was exactly what I envisioned. Ricky left and said he needed a day or so to get me pricing and the next day I got the pricing- and it was super reasonable. I immediately was onboard and couldn't wait to see the project completed. Two weeks (!!) later the project was complete and all the shelves and doors were installed and it turned out fantastic! I cannot recommend Fox Mirror & Glass enough. This family owned business has been around for 40+ years and Ricky grew up in it, working for his father and grandfather and boy, do they know what they are doing. They manufacture everything in their own shop, unlike most glass shops. Epilogue: My builder was so impressed by Fox that they are now using them too! This is great news for their customers. Thank you, Ricky and team at Fox, you all did an amazing job.

I am a homeowner living in West Bradenton for the past 5 years in a house built in 1979…read more I became familiar with Sun Window and Door when I wanted to renovate the sliding glass doors looking out to our pool area. They had the replacement rollers and bearings I needed to save the 35 year old original aluminum doors. When I had the time to replace the weather seals on the sliding doors and the frames, I found that Sun Window and Door had the seals in stock. When talking with the counter staff about how to best remove and replace the seals they provided important advice on Do's and Dont's that saved me a lot of trouble. More recently, I needed to replace some of the aluminum extrusions used in the construction of my screened pool enclosure. Again, Sun Window and Door were able to provide me with the needed materials. When I had replaced the corroded original aluminum parts I needed a full roll of screen and corresponding spline to hold it in place. They came through for me again, with the items I needed in stock, along with some friendly advice on how to do it. While I prefer to do projects myself, I know there are some tasks that are best left to the professionals. This fall I decided it was time to upgrade one of the original aluminum framed single pane windows in my home. I checked with several firms in the area on options and price. The staff at Sun Window gave me 1 on 1 attention and found the best solution for my situation. When it came time to take out the old window and install the new unit, the field staff did a great job, Quick, neat and polite. Even though I had been relying on Sun Window and Door for several years, the installation team exceeded my expectations.

-BUYER BEWARE -Spent almost $50,000 with this company over…read morethe course of a year. -(2) Sliders were installed incorrectly, the blamed the manufacturer, but did not catch the error when they installed. -When installing the windows they broke an arch and had to replace. They came back with a defective window, installed it, came back with another defective window, installed it again, and finally came back with a window without defects and installed it. That happened over the course of a month. -All the windows that were supposed to open did not open without considerable effort. It was impossible for my wife to open them. The installers said they didn't know why and that it was probably a manufacturing issue. They said they would send out a tech. -Two techs came out 2 weeks later and could not fix the problem and blamed it on the manufacturer. They told us to call the office to resolve. -Called the office and they told us that there was no way to contact the manufacturer except 'through the portal' and they would get back with us. Called them back a week later and they said they hadn't heard back. Called them again another week later and they said they hadn't heard back. Finally was able to get the number of a person at the manufacturer and I called him everyday for a week until he scheduled a tech to come look at the windows and change out the balance rods. That took 3 weeks to schedule. -Manufacturer techs came out, changed the balance rods and the windows still did not work. -Finally called Scott, the president of SRQ Glass and begged him to come look at the windows. -He came to the house tested the windows and agreed that they should not be working that way. I gave him a level from my shop and he confirmed that the windows were installed incorrectly (NOT the manufacturers error as was stated for a month) and that he would get people out to fix it. -Techs came out to fix the window. They did not have a level and I had to give them mine to show them the problem and explain what Scott said needed to be done. They finally got the windows to work acceptably. -The techs that then come to do the plugs and trim were poor. I had to follow one of them around to have him reinstall the plugs that he shoddily put in that fell out as soon as the windows were closed. They did not clean the windows after as was explained would happen at the conclusion of the job. -The first sliders were installed in August of 2025. The incorrectly installed one was finally reinstalled on August 6th of 2026. -The installation of the windows and the final slider commenced on April 21st of 2026 and finally was completed (if you can call it that) on July 30th. -IN ADDITION: Before the issues began in earnest, we referred our neighbor to SRQ Glass and she spent $10-20,000 on windows for her home. So we were responsible for at least $60,000 in business for them, if not more. -We had an outstanding balance of $3,145.00. I called Scott and asked him if he would waive the final balance in compensation for all the issues, number of times techs were in our home, and the length of time the project took. He stated that he could not do that or he would lose money on the job but did agree to give us $1,000.00 off. Disappointing. If they would have done the job correctly the first time and not incurred all the labor cost on constantly coming back to fix things, that would not have been an issue. -For a company to have made $60 - 70,000 off a client, provide poor workmanship, excuses, and made us have to plan to be at home for MULTIPLE visits over an almost 4 month period, and then quibble about $3,100 is a shame.

"Excellent" is hardly enough to describe how our entire window and door replacement process went!…read more It began with a visit from Rob, the highly knowledgeable sales rep. He gave a thorough and comprehensive explanation of every aspect of the window, sliding door, and front door replacement. Our first estimate did not include replacement of three trapezoidal windows and one rectangular window above the front door. Once we realized that these existing windows were not impact-resistant, I requested that they be added to the job. Rob came and did extensive measurements, then he returned again with an even more experienced expert to confirm everything. The preliminary work must have been spot on, because these trouble-windows went in with little difficulty. Except for the large section of termite-damaged wood that the installer uncovered and, of course, completely removed and replaced. Given the special geometric and installation requirements, the finished product is incredible. The installation crew was technically expert. In addition, each one had a real concern for the extensive interior memorabilia throughout the home that we were unable to relocate before the work. Everything was covered and protected from both dust and inadvertent contact. This gave us the confidence not to worry about damage, and of course there was none. The final process involved filling holes in the stucco made by the removal of ancient sliding shutters, installing new trim around the three trapezoidal windows, and touch-up painting, including the new front door. Once again, extreme care was given to protecting the inside of the house near the door and the exterior screened entrance. The work was neat and thorough, and the final cleanup was total and complete I can't recommend Armored Dade highly enough. In my relatively brief stay in Florida, I of course have not avoided the countless TV commercials for window replacement: 0% off; buy 1 get 1; get 4; etc. Rob made no mention of any "deals" at his initial visit because with a top-quality product installed by a top-quality firm, there is no need for gimmicks.
