This specific chapter offers rooms & meals completely free of charge to families who have children in the pediatric intensive care unit at Penn Sate Hershey Medical Center (just across the street). I have had the honor of volunteering to cook meals at the RMH a few times now. They have a fully furnished rooms as well as a play area, computer access room, reading rooms, dining area, as well as a full sized kitchen. RMH collects soda can tabs and magazines to recycle to help support its mission. In addition to corporate and individual sponsors, RMHC receives support from collection canisters at McDonald's restaurants and volunteers all over the world.

Can't say enough good things about the folks at Furever Home in East Petersburg. They provide a…read moregood environment and the cats here are welcome to live out their lives if nobody adopts them. When I adopted a Pet Pantry cat who was living at Furever Home, I almost felt bad about taking him out of there. Food bowls, litter boxes, cat trees and toys everywhere! Zero rocking chairs! This is kitty Valhalla, at least at shelters go. I told them I couldn't compete with that many trees and toys. But what these cats need most is a home. And that part is working out well, at least in my case. This older male cat had no reason to bond with me but nevertheless, here he is as I write this, hopping into my lap and waiting for me to go to bed so he can curl up next to me.

In my world, LGBT stands for Like Girls, Boys Too…read more Honestly I would give the LGBT community of anywhere a five star rating - especially since I am now officially one of them LOL. However what I really like about this particular society is that they are in an area full of hard-working blue-collar types that do not traditionally recognize or accept this kind of lifestyle or identity or human being. So they're doing good work in an area that needs it and they have all my support - as do any LGBT activists in the world. Of which of course I am one.
