But I`ll totally come back, for warm or active wear, it`s just the coolest store with prices beyond compare!

The gear selection mirrors REI well, but there's a fuller clothing line, especially at the more casual end --- and I still haven't figured out the kid's fishing pool. A touch of Cabela's, perhaps? The staff is helpful, and will happily break out their (sometimes rusty) English if need be. We mostly shopped in German, but once you start looking for books in English the conversations tend to follow suit. Picked up a new hostel liner for hut-to-hut hikes, didn't find the book we hoped for, and figure I'll be back next time I need some ski gloves.

In Germany, it's Globetrotter and it seems that Transa is more or less the Globetrotter of Switzerland. Is that a good thing? I think so. One thing that I've found very frustrating about living in Europe is the lack of selection. Most shops of any ilk (sport or otherwise) seem to sell only European brands or the "popular" brands from elsewhere. The beauty of the bigger shops is that they can actually give you that selection and Transa doesn't disappoint. Another thing that I have previously found is that it's often very difficult to get anyone to help you in the smaller shops... somehow, the bigger stores (especially in Switzerland) have figured out that service is a huge factor. Even if I don't need or want help it's nice to at least be acknowledged in case you do want to ask a question. In the 2-3 times I've been in Transa and their outlet store, there's always someone nearby to ask questions or give advice. Transa doesn't have everything I want and I'd be surprised if they did but they sure do fill in a lot of large holes in the market from what I can tell. Hopefully, they'll convince some of the other shops to step up their service and selection a bit. As far as prices go, they're really not much different than the competition but if you want to see and experience a really nice store, check 'em out. Now, if only they were open on Sunday (they are attached to HBf after all)!

I walk over and start looking through. Lowa Vertial GTX, nice. Then a Lowa Vertical GTX. Next up, Lowa Vertical GTX. Waitaminute... Looks like they put every size of boot out. Maybe even every color. I take a second look around the boot selection --- it's a full run of Lowa (from serious mountaineering to around-campus), and a few other things. Good, but no longer staggering. Back around the store. Check out the down sleeping bags and Klettersteig (Via Ferrata) gear, breeze through the quickdraws and stoppers in the climbing section, and pick up a canister of butane for my stove, and a grip trainer for my forearms. Overall, it feels a little like a smallish REI --- with the entire shoe stock on the floor.

Transa carries all the usual brands - Patagonia, North Face, Marmot, Mammut, etc., plus a couple I wasn't familiar with in the States. The store is huge and has a ton of selection - Really impressed with the breadth of their gear - From biking to hiking to climbing to mountaineering - They have it all and not just a few items. Then again, this is Switzerland, so probably shouldn't be too shocked. Prices are on par with online - Highly recommend visiting if you love shopping these types of wears/wares!

The prices here are more expensive than online. The sales lady cut off the tags when I bought my…read moreitems. BEWARE!! You won't be able to return clothing even if you did not wear it. No store ever does this!! What a terrible thing to do to a customer, she should be ashamed. She is so dishonest for cutting off tags to not allow returns when returns are clearly allowed within 8 days, like the receipt says. I will report to North Face headquarters and I will never shop here again.

I go there if I need sport shoes, a new badminton racket or things like that. For this kind of products they are very good. In this store they actually have a huge section for women, the men section is quite small in comparison. It located in the Europaalle right next to another big sport shop so if you don't find what you are looking from, just cross the allee :-)
