Beautiful gym, World class, and family friendly instructors…read more This gym has been built for the student, wether they be 4 or 40. The instructors here truly care that their students are having fun and enjoying themselves while they are learning. They have they biggest mats space in the lower mainland if not BC, and are kept super clean. I started jiu jitsu and fell in love with the sport, and wanted my young daughter (3 at the time, she's now 4 turning 5)to be able to join with me and have it something we can share. We had attempted to enroll her in another martial arts school in town, but the environment there was not nurturing to her and she hated it. (My worst fear) We switched to ptt Abby 3 weeks ago and I am overjoyed to report that she has a renewed passion and love for the sport, the coaches make her feel like family and keep things fun and light. Teaching her respect and discipline at the same time maintaining a caring demeanor. She went from barely being able to make it through a 30 min class at the other gym, to now she does 2 classes back to back for a total of 90min . She loves training with her friends and begs me after daycare to go to her class. The knowledge my daughter has learned in such little time has also helped her with dealing with a schoolyard bully by herself, and reinforcing her own self confidence. I can't say enough great thing about these guys. World Class instructors in a clean, friendly and welcoming environment. They are always available and having classes in the day and night really helps me maintain training consistently even though I'm a shift worker. Give these guys a trial and you will not be disappoint

I would like to comment on the after school sun hang do program. Michelle and Dave were my friends…read moreof 20 years. I went to business school and made a business plan to start an after school program that I discussed everything about with the Kinney's. They agreed to rent me a space when I was finished all my courses and business plan. When it came time to start the program the Kinney's came to me and said we want 50% of your profits from your business or your not renting our space . I refused as this was not our original agreement. Long story short they stole my business idea and now every sun hang do is profiting from my idea. These were my friends at least I thought they were of 20 years. So you judge for yourself the kind of people the Kinney's are. Real Christian good doers??? Lol

My first time being into any real martial arts training was here, and it was awesome! My first night there, the class learned techniques with some of the weapons (I was best with the short sticks, and at least as dangerous to myself with a nunchuck as to my opponent). Most evenings they'd end the class with "freestyle on the bag", allowing the students to line up and take their turns landing a single strike on the punching bag. As I've heard, Sun Hang Do (a form of mixed martial arts) incorporates a bit of ninjitsu, a style that's always had my interest.

I'm writing this negative review with a heavy heart and an extended frustration for the lack of…read morecare experienced at GoodLife. 3-4 months into my membership, I approached a girl at the front desk to ask -- humbly -- whether there was any way GoodLife could help me with my membership, given that I was homeless and unemployed at the time. She checked in with management at the time, and I was given an email address and directed to send an email to another department. I did exactly that, but the response I received was generic and unhelpful. It left me feeling unseen and brushed aside. A manager later mentioned that she had initially offered me 4 weeks off, but that I had never accepted the offer. Which seemed odd...since you don't need someone's permission to give someone something free or to do something kind. Second, I personally have no solid recollection of such an offering. Definitely feels like something I would have remembered and would have accepted. But to be honest, when she offered it to me again later on, it just felt like a slap in the face at that point, considering all the other issues present with GoodLife. Not to mention...I needed assistance FAR greater than just a month, which felt like another slap in the face (essentially offering someone a bandaid for a gushing canon-ball wound...Oh 4 weeks...Thanks, i guess?). Not long after (3-4 weeks later), I noticed that GoodLife hired four new staff members -- a reminder that while resources were available for expansion, there was apparently nothing substantial to offer a loyal member going through a difficult time. It stung. They also knew that I was unemployed, but failed to extend a helpful offering of employment (or even give me a heads up that they were hiring, so I could apply the normal route, like everyone else). That stung even more. Nonetheless, I still chose to stay positive. A couple months go by and I decided to share with management a number of thoughtful ideas to help improve the facility, including specific areas that could have used a quick clean (nothing major by any means, but still noticeable). I was told thank you, and that they'd look into those dirty areas. Anddd...another month goes by...anddd, those same dirty spots remain untouched to this day. Pffff, wild. Don't lie to me, and tell me, " we will address the cleanliness concerns you have brought to our attention." ...then not do anything. Lastly...having recently restarted my new social media presence on instagram, I decided I would tag GoodLife.Abbotsford, hoping it would be reshared on their Instagram Story...but nope. No acknowledgment, no thank you, no reshare... just the same three people they reshare on the social media every day. (One photo I tagged them in might have been deemed spicy, so I can understand that one not being shared for safety, but otherwise...all the countless others were not...they were just being cruel and dishing out more neglect and reject). At this point, I've been stretched thin again -- financially, mentally, and emotionally. Club 16 is right across the street, offering a VIP membership that's half the cost of GoodLife's, and it includes amenities GoodLife doesn't have (including infrared sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage, etc.). So I have to ask myself -- what exactly is holding me back from switching? Loyalty can only go so far when it isn't met with any compassion, gratitude, or basic follow-through. At this point...I'm made to feel like GoodLife doesn't truly care about its members...they're just numbers. Ps, despite us just being numbers to them, they at the same time oddly don't care about financial numbers or profitability...cause they also tend to be over-staffed during the day, yet despite being overstaffed...oddly hard to find sometimes when a member needs something. Labour costs must be through the roof. Pps, ...and...their IN-HOUSE cleaner is spiritually toxic, comes at you during a new moon and latches onto your spirit, or tries to give you bad advice or in-still fear in you (likely why he went from working 5 days a week to 2...he's very inefficient)

I paid an annual fee up front then was offered a free month if I gave them my banking information…read more Or I could just pay at the counter up front. After the weekend I went back with the intent of just paying the monthly fee, not accepting the free month for a direct debit deal. Low and behold, you must give them your banking information even if pay month to month!?! No thanks! And I am NOT a "Lazy Drunk" for wanting my money back?
