This might be the worst customer service I've EVER experienced in a restaurant in my lifetime. I…read morewish I could give you negative stars!
You might consider my expectations to be too high, but dealing with the manager and wait staff at Kowalski can only be encapsulated by the word: NIGHTMARE.
Now, you might wonder, how could this have occurred? I will tell you my story. My lovely husband and I recently attended this establishment for a late lunch consisting of gnocchi and vegetable soup. Now, the restaurant was QUITE empty, we went around 3-4 PM. We waited approximately 50 minutes for our food. That's FIVE ZERO minutes. Now, if the restaurant had been particularly busy, I would've been more understanding about this delay. However, the restaurant had approximately 10-15 people total when we dined.
Now, the best part of the story: when we received our food, my gnocchi was DRENCHED in oil and burning hot. The soup, also, was burning hot and absolutely burned our tongues. What was clear was that the dishes had been obviously reheated to burning temp. The gnocchi was completely flavorless, it was absolutely inedible. My husband politely mentions this to the waiter and he responds by very condescendingly DEMANDING that the chef said "it was supposed to be that way" and the food was "good." This was probably the most unsettling part of the meal; being told by the waiter that we, the customers, were wrong and must have something wrong with our tastebuds because the soup couldn't possibly be burnt and we also must have something wrong with our sense of time because according to the waiter we only waited 15 minutes! Now, I want to clarify that I am not a cook and my expectations for a mid-priced, shabby joint like this aren't so high, however, this was an absolutely atrocious meal accompanied by absolutely atrocious German waitstaff.
We were asked to pay and leave and not to "disturb" other clients with our complaints about their disgusting food and service. The manager at that time also refused to give us his name and claimed to be the son of the owner. If the owner has any business tenacity at all, I recommend he renew the waitstaff at this establishment. Until then, you won't be seeing me, my family, or my friends there.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
