We understand that Italy has a more relaxed pace than the U.S., but it would've been nice if someone checked in on us occasionally for drink refills or to see if we needed anything. That said, we still enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend the restaurant--especially for the views, which are worth it on their own.

I asked, they said no it was not meant to be cold, and promptly brought me a new warm one. Which tasted good. But then ... the check comes and they charged full price for everything. Like they didn't even knock off the cover for the mistake they made. I didn't ask if they would discount the meal because I shouldn't have to. A high quality restaurant would have done it without putting me in the awkward position of having to ask. They would have just done it because serving a frozen dish is just kind of embarrassing ... especially on the Amalfi coast where they take so much pride in the quality of their cuisine. Anyway, I just paid the bill and walked out. Poor etiquette on their part ... you should not put your customers in the position of having to ask. Just do what's right up front.

Well, it wasn't worth building a trip around it, but we did really love Amalfi Coast so in the end it worked out. As for this restaurant, I wouldn't go for dinner. Food just isn't very good. If ur in the area already (not spending crazy $ to take a water taxi or drive a distance), stop by for a cocktail. Having a drink here is worth it if you're nearby so would definitely recommend that. The bar is the only portion that's part of the cave and truly, many places along Praiano and neighboring areas r built into the cliff so it's not all that special. Unless you're arriving via water taxi, the walk to this place is a lot so wear shoes that u love to hike in-lol. We paid an additional 15Euro/pp to have VIP seating right along the water. Not worth it. U could easily sit on the patio and have equal views and experience. One of the nice things about Europe is often that they don't rush u as much as US restaurants. Not here. They were ready to grab r order immediately and when we asked to start with a drink and appetizer then order in a bit, they told us they had to put in r complete order at 1 time. Seems odd since they were able to add drinks as needed, but whatevs. The linguini with anchovy (it was more of an essence) was amazing! Would totally recommend it and we don't even like anchovies. However, everything else was meh to bad. The lamb ribs were a pile of fat and not good. The filet was really overcooked so rough to eat. The tagliatelle with ragu had almost no meat in it. Probably spent $100usd pp without alcohol and would definitely not recommend for dinner. *Tip - if you're walking back up that huge hill after drinks/dinner, stop off at the hotel just above Il Pirate and have a cocktail or dessert there. They have an elevator that will take u up to the top street that u can use if you're either a guest or dining there. I promise u it's worth the $ for the ride.

Because of the size, there is energy from the staff and customers who seem to know what they are in for. The service was excellent with staff constantly roaming around. Our food was delicious and filling. They also had an excellent wine selection. Desserts were definitely satisfying. I do not know how my wife and I finished it all, though it was tasty.

We were promptly seated and ordered some of the local white wine which is always great and super inexpensive. We split a few antipasti including a misto which had, among other offerings, fried zucchini flowers and crispy calamari, all were great. I selected the gnocchi which came with a light cheese sauce that accented the fresh spinach pasta. be advised that service, like most southern Italian locations will be slower, but that is part of the charm, you won't be rushed. Also be prepared to be sung to by the owner's father who loves to entrain the guests. Yhey have a free courtesy car if you are in Praiano.

Cute decor that makes u feel like you're dining on the coast in Italy. Although they have outdoor seating and it's highlighted in most pics, we preferred sitting inside next to the open double door as it was more comfortable and not as much road noise. (There's a road between the outside dining and the restaurant) that frequently has cars & motorcycles going by. Bread was tasty & they brought sampler of sundried tomato w/cheese on skewer for each of us as part of their cover charge. We asked if they could make us a salad (b/c they didn't have one on the menu) and got a bowl of butter lettuce-lol. It doesn't seem veggies or salad is much of a thing in Italy b/c this happened at a couple restaurants. Tortellini appetizer was good. Tagliolini Tartufo was excellent and had generous amount of truffle shavings. Veal was pretty good. Rabbit (?- maybe it was lamb- can't recall) was not good- made with an Asian flavoring and NOT good. We were satisfied with service and would recommend to others if you're in the area. Spent about $75usd per person without alcohol.
