Sometimes a place is better in your memory than it is in reality. I don't know if it's the nostalgia or maybe it's just good vibes but sometimes when we revisit a location we haven't been in a while we have to face the reality that it's maybe not as good as we once thought. My wife and I opted to go to Mama Laura's this past weekend instead of the longer drive out to canandaigua to go to simply crepes. We wanted a nice breakfast and we had fun memories of this place from years ago... Sadly those memories were the best part of the experience. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad it was just very average and simply crepes is exceptional. For me there's nothing here that will cause me to return well maybe if we lived closer I'd consider it. read more

Me and the family visited Mama Lor's new location for breakfast this morning before visiting Letchworth state park to gander at all the colorful fall trees. Such a great spot to open up because their really isn't too much on that side of town and who doesn't love a new breakfast spot. This location is decorated nicely inside and out and has a full friendly staff ready to serve you some delicious grub. First time and it was a hit!!! Started with the passion fruit mimosa and a spicy Bloody Mary which came out with a pepper skewer (props)! Also tried the raspberry grapefruit screwdriver which made it feel less like January and more like summer. Breakfast was sausage gravy and biscuits. ABSOLUTE BOMB! Thick chunks of meat almost like a meatball. Smothered in gravy. We got a side of potato wedges just to help scoop up all the dirty gravy drippings. Super cute space inside with a gorgeous live edge wood bar, and many rooms for dining. I can't wait to come back for dinner. Mama Lor herself came over to make sure we enjoyed our brunch! Coming to Mama Lor's is always a treat. The servers are always friendly and knowledgeable, the different little areas with seating are all pleasant to dine in, and the food is creative and delicious. Our last trip was later in the evening on Valentine's Day and they were out of a few things but the server was so sweet and apologetic and it wasn't really a big deal for us - it was a major restaurant holiday and their customer service was impeccable. Awful experience. Temperature was cold in restaurant and diners were largely wearing winter coats to dine. Sparse accommodations with bare tables commonly seen in a school cafeteria without tablecloth and rolled up utensils with paper napkin. Claim was fool was great and homemade but that was hardly the case as most seemed to be doctored up Sysco food. Yet the place was mobbed largely because prices are cheap and limited options in area. Certainly this place may be good for breakfast or lunch when expectations are low. For dinner I would avoid given the atmosphere, poor temp control, low quality food and lack of any kind of passion put toward a dining experience. The name mama lot invokes a grandma cooking in the back with coveted family recipes cooked with love and attention.this is hardly the case and far from it. Mama Lor hire new chefs, invest in the quality of food and decor of restaurant and by all means insulate the place and turn on the heat. read more

We just went to Mamor's on Lake Road recently and Their food is amazing. I got the fish fry and my husband got prime rib and the proportions were both huge and very tasty. The fish fry was not fishy tasting. It was just really well done. Come here for the spudsssss. This place is such a hidden gem off the beaten path. My husband was a little annoyed when I told him it was 20 min away... but boy did he leave happy. This is definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots! It's far into Webster but it's worth the drive! Get there early on weekends because they get busy quickly! Parking can be tough, but you can park on the streets. If you have to wait a bit for a table, you can get a cup of hot chocolate or coffee while you wait! I normally get the SpinArt omelet but the corned beef hash is good too. I generally always try whatever French toast special they have. The potato pancakes are good too. read more

Very surprised by this place. I definitely recommend it. They serve breakfast and lunch/dinner so the menu is pretty large. There is a horseshoe shaped bar in the front and several rooms for dining off of the main room. Despite having a large bar, this is still a family restaurant. The interior is more escape than I expected. Much nicer than a diner in my opinion. They have "standard" breakfast menu but many other options as well. My wife had a Greek style omelette. Kids had pancakes. I had a breakfast skillet. The skillet was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. It was filled with sausage, bacon, and potatoes, topped with two fried eggs and cheese. It can't be good for you but it was pretty impressive. I don't think words can do this one justice. You need to try one of you are there for breakfast. You will not be disappointed. I had family in town so we went to Mama Lors because of the ratings and menu choices I've seen. No pictures due to too much talking between my party of 6! We tried appetizers and different meals and there was not one complaint from anyone! The food was fantastic and the servers were so welcoming. They were down a wait staff but still kept things coming as soon as the food was ready. The fish was delicious with crispy coating and moist inside, pulled pork was in a delicious sauce with real mashed potatoes, my daughter chicken was done perfectly but I can't remember which type she got, the eggplant parm got rave reviews from the 13 year old and they happily changed the kid's spaghetti to penne pasta for the 10 year old who announced it was perfect. Drink refills kept coming and dirty dishes were removed between courses to keep the table clean. The servings were huge too. The fish fries have a mini or large and the mini one was the size of a regular fish fry elsewhere! The place inside has a cozy feeling but didn't feel crowded. The outside was open and all tables there were full too. The servers and young men doing everything from bringing out some items to cleaning off dishes were all fantastic! It had been a while since I'd visited Mama Lor's Cafe. About 4 or 5 years I guess. This was a favorite place to go on 1/2 days when I worked out in Ontario. Anyways, it was great to be back even if it was as a backup to our original plan (the other restaurant in webster we wanted to visit was closed for summer vacation). The place was hoppin' on a Sunday morning for Brunch. I arrived before my friend and managed to get a spot in the parking lot almost to the last spot. I went in and gave my name, then waited for about 10-15 minutes for a table. The wait was fine though, and I ran into people I knew from Yoga, so it was a nice time of catching up and socializing with good folks. We were seated inside in the back, near the rear door. It wasn't too much of a problem as not much traffic seemed to be coming in/out of the rear entrance. My dining partner and I both ordered celebratory mimosas, and with a little bit of hemming and hawing (and some advice from our waitress) finally decided on: 1. The 104 pothole for my friend AND 2. Western Potato Pancakes (short stack) and a short stack of french toast. I was really pleased with the Potato Pancakes, and I will rave about them. Think western omelet meets latkes. Hashbrowns shredded to perfection, tossed with ham, peppers and onions, then fried up like a pancake, and topped off with shredded cheddar. Savory and delicious. I was in brunch heaven. The portion size was enormous and I barely had room for the french toast (which of course I still ate). The French toast wasn't really anything to write home about, but it was still tasty. I'd definitely order the potato pancakes though. Prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere felt like a local diner, or a step up. I've had dinner at Mama Lot's twice and both times I've been underwhelmed by the food. The restaurant is clean and spacious. It has a friendly, welcoming vibe. Service staff was outstanding. Prompt, friendly and attentive. Many good things to be said about the restaurant. But the food...first the short ribs, a special on the menu served with homemade gnocchi and carrots.The short ribs were tender but overs salted. The gnocchi were not cooked properly. They were gummy bites of dough. I showed the server the gnocchi and she immediately offered to bring me something else. I opted for pasta instead. As a special, the short ribs were a fail. Best part of the meal was the carrots. Next, salmon in a bourbon maple cream sauce served with broccoli, cauliflower and mashed potatoes. New on the menu. The salmon was fishy and I guess I've been lucky because I've never had salmon taste like that before. The sauce saved it although I couldn't eat much of it. The cauliflower and mashed potatoes were good. The broccoli bugged me. Rather than being a nice green broccoli the "flowers" were yellow, which usually means the broccoli has been around a while. With so much fresh produce available this time of year I can't see why the chef would serve broccoli this way. Someone in the kitchen isn't watching the little things carefully enough. Overall, not pleased with the food thus far. The fish fry and breakfasts were highly recommended by friends. I may go again to try breakfast because Mama Lor's is such a nice restaurant. I came here with my mom for dinner one night as I'd read great things about it. The location itself if fairly large with plenty of seating outside. The service was excellent from start to finish and the menu was pretty creative. Lots of different options ranging from burgers to pasta to steak. They have a full wine list as well with great options. I settled on the grilled Tuscan chicken that was perfectly cooked. Great flavors and it's served on an arugula salad, all the ingredients were freshly They have many healthy options as well, I'll certainly be back to try some of the many other menu items. read more

Terrible Lighting so bright it felt like the morgue. What ever Happened to ambient lighting. LED light bulbs should be banned. they are so harsh. If you planning on a nice romantic date please avoid this place that's lit up like a cheap florescent lunch room. So uncomfortable. read more
