My wife and I took my stepfather here for Sunday lunch recently and boy, oh boy, were we in for a pleasant surprise. The food, service and ambience is just second to none. My stepfather went for a traditional roast beef followed by apple crumble and assured us that it was the best meal he'd enjoyed for quite a while. Both my wife and I went for the Game Pie. It arrived in a porcelain pie dish with pastry lid, and let me tell you, the pastry itself was worth the visit. The pie's filling was superb. Tasty, moist, plenty of game meat, and the gravy was heavenly. I had a creme brulee to finish which was decedant, flavoursome and plentiful and my wife finished her meal with a chocolate torte which she described as rich and delicious. A wonderful meal all round. Cannot recommend this place enough. read more
