I filed for divorce to leave a long marriage that should've ended years ago. Instead of helping resolve matters, Gina escalated tensions and acted with shocking unprofessionalism. She was a family friend of my ex-husband's and must've given him a great deal because she didn't do anything but drag the process out until I was out of money. And it felt as though her main priority was making me suffer. She showed up late to mediation and clearly didn't take it seriously. Beyond her inability to submit paperwork when it was due, causing more expenses on my part, she continued to file motions that were redundant and useless. She submitted false and misleading documents, ignored key facts, and refused to acknowledge the reality of what my children and I were facing. Even my ex-husband admitted from the beginning that Gina told him he could look forward to seeing me bankrupt by the end. That's not just unethical--it's cruel. She was frequently rude, used foul language, and failed to follow through on critical parts of the case. Her lack of professionalism actually caused her own client to end up owing me money because of the damage she created. My attorney had to work twice as hard--and charge me more--just to respond to the mess Gina left behind. What should have been a legal process focused on protecting children and ensuring a fair outcome turned into a nightmare because of her actions. If you're considering hiring Gina Costello for family law--especially in a high-conflict situation--I strongly urge you to think twice. When I was looking for an attorney, I used reviews written by others to help me. My attorney did what I asked, and I did everything with facts and in the best interest of my 2 children. I can sleep at night, but it is painful to think his family was okay letting an attorney do this to the mother of their niece and nephew. The last court hearing, after representing him for a year--she didn't know how many kids he had, ages or what he did for a living.

He even told me that the opposing counsel didn't understand the law. It went all the way to trial, and it turns out that I didn't have grounds to move with my daughter after all. Much of the evidence that would have helped my case was not admitted because Mr. Zigler didn't follow the rules of evidence. The judge scolded him time and time again for not asking questions properly (she even told him exactly what to say in some cases) and for arguing "the wrong case". In the end, the judge not only ruled against me but ordered me to pay all of the opposing counsel's fees (nearly $17,000 on top of the $12,500 that I already paid Mr. Zigler.) Mr. Zigler didn't advise me that I had to tell the judge I would stay prior to her ruling if I wanted to go back to our old parenting plan (a new change in the law, just prior to trial), so even though I told him immediately afterwards that I wasn't moving and wanted to rescind my petition, it was already too late. I ended up losing custody of my daughter and getting only minimal visitation, as if I had moved out of state, even though I stayed right here. I had to pay yet another attorney over $5,000 to renegotiate the plan with my ex where I got all my visitation back but cannot regain custody.
