Gayle and I arrived in Vielha (located within the Val D'Aran in the Spanish Pyrenees), checked into…read moreour Parador, and asked the front desk about a good place to have Lunch. It was October, which means that we were in the off season and that places like Casa Irene were closed. The Woman at the Front Desk sized us up, looked through an extensive Concierge book, and recommended that we try Restaurante Era Lucana. This place was only a short drive down the hill and very easy to find.
Era Lucana was a very good choice. We were immediately seated in a covered and nicely sunny patio, which had a pretty view of the surrounding town and distant peaks. The Mountain Menu of the Day was about 14.5 Euros (each), which included the usual 3-Courses (including Dessert), Bread, Water, and Wine. My Paella was delicious and more than enough food. Gayle ate every bite of her Lamb and the delicious chocolate dessert. Best of all, the restaurant was comfortable and relaxing, and it was great for Gayle and I to have a pleasant time together of which time was no object. There was also some side "entertainment" with some local cats outside and some colourful locals inside.
