Baja Fish Tacos

Just enjoyed the Baja Fish Tacos here; if you're having a cheat day these are the bomb!!! All of the fish is high quality (salmon on "Mediterranean" salad has a great dressing, and the fried fish sandwich are my other two favorites; I also recommend the seared tuna is plentiful and seared perfectly (very little). Crystal, who took my order and delivered my food outside, was so professional and friendly, I had to ask her name and post a review... I observed an older gentlemen speak with her about his food after he was finished, I believe he was used to a different fish with his order; Crystal apologized and let him know that next time he can request the other fish, whatever he wants, it's not a problem, and then she thanked him for letting her know. Management and owner, please take note of this exceptional employee, you have a manager in the making and this kind of customer service is rare to come by these days!

Great food friendly service! Healthy and delicious, great deals if you join the mailing list, BOGOs aplenty.

We walked in at 7 pm and half of the tables had the chairs up and kitchen looked like they were ready to go home, my fish and chips horrible I know what happened, they probably ran out of batter and just made a quick batch for it! Chicken skewers, dry, no lemon oregano, hummus no tahini or olive oil?? And I'm not gonna comment on the girl that was there!!!

We like the fish tacos, chicken & shrimp Skewers plus the fish sticks. The clam chowder is very good as well.

Food was ok....burger loaded up with all the trimmings was good but nothing to write home about ...the feta cheese fries were nicely seasoned sprinkled generously with feta cheese...my favorite...the fish taco was fresh with a crispy crunch in every bite ...great texture ..topped with a nice slaw...the poke bowl was swerved with chips ..high quality ahi tuna for the win...great location with back parking for easy access.

It's supposed to a fish sandwich but there's not much fish

I used to love this place back when it was called Malibu Fish grill but unfortunately it's gone downhill. I suppose it's telling that there was no one eating there the past few times we went in. The fish sandwich used to truly be the best around and have a nice fat chunk of crisp, lightly battered fish but the sandwich I had this last time was all bread with very little fish. Salads are still fresh but much smaller than before as well. They used to be so big you could barely finish them. The menu selection is good, the staff is friendly, and the ingredients are still consistently good quality so we will give it another try-- hopefully this was just an off night.

I've been dining here for eight years, and it has never disappointed. There are so many reasons I…read morekeep coming back. First, the food. It's consistently delicious every single time. My personal favorites are the lobster mac 'n' cheese, mussels, fish and chips, and the lobster bisque. Everything is flavorful, fresh, and prepared with care. Second, the bar. The drinks are perfectly balanced--strong enough to enjoy, but never overpowering. There's nothing worse than ordering a cocktail that tastes like juice with zero kick. That definitely doesn't happen here. The El Chapo margarita (along with many others I've tried) will have you feeling warm and fuzzy after the first sip! The location is another huge plus. If you enjoy people-watching, this is the spot. You get a perfect view of all the action, which makes the experience even more fun. Most importantly, the staff. Joe, Nicole, and (I believe his name is El D) El Dorado are fantastic. They're friendly, personable, attentive, and always seem to anticipate what you need before you even ask. They offer great suggestions and are wonderful conversationalists. They truly make you feel welcome, and if they have a moment, they'll happily stop and chat. I also want to give a special shoutout to Joe, the manager. I was organizing an event for my women's group--about 20 guests--and needed a venue that could work within a firm budget. When I called, Joe didn't hesitate to accommodate us. Many other South Bay locations either didn't respond or were outrageously expensive. This was seamless from start to finish. Joe worked with me to select the appetizers and music, ensured we always had water refilled and glasses topped off, and made sure every detail was handled. We had plenty of wine and appetizers, and the front area was reserved just for our group. The event was wonderful, and Joe's kindness and professionalism made it all so easy. Everyone loved Joe! Highly recommend Playa Hermosa--this place truly is a gem.

From the hand shaken fresh margaritas, I got the pineapple Serrano cilantro, to the complimentary fresh tortilla with honey butter and salsas, + the ocean breeze from the Pier, it's hard to complain. To share my table of 2 ordered the: * La asada con salsa (cooked medium) - comes with a side - we chose the corn - and rice and beans 10/10. I could drink the chimichurri sauce it came with and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection * mole blanco enchiladas - chicken Machacha, queso, chipotle pepitas, arroz de tomatillo and frijoles Nevro . 9.5/10 and I fear I will never want to have mole any other way. I also got a complimentary dessert of choice for my birthday. I opted for the fried ice cream (horchata flavored) which was divine and the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The ambiance is lively, I recommend to sit outdoors as several other restaurants have live music and great to people watch. Huge compliments to the chef and to our incredible waiter, Peter, who was attentive and provided the best recommendations. Would definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

I've lived close by for years and I gotta say, after coming to Quality Seafood twice (once in Nov…read more '25 and in March '26), I will definitely stop taking this South Bay gem for granted. I've only had the pleasure of having the following items below, but I'll be back in the coming years to try more. - Calamari [7.7/10]: regardless of what size you order, the portion is generous. This place doesn't overdue it with the batter and lets the flavor the fresh squid shine - which I adore. Only giving this dish its rating because there are a few Italian spots in Torrance that have my heart when it comes to the best calamari. - Fish Tacos [8.5/10]: Every bite gives a nice crunch of both batter and fish. I've had unpleasant experiences where I've had pockets of crispy batter, here the fish tacos are so great it actually doesn't need much support from lemon and/or tartar sauce. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Admittedly my cup could have used a touch of salt. I would have liked a bigger portion for what I paid for, but if you're in the mood for something hot to compliment your fried seafood - this is worth getting. This is also featured on the happy hour menu for $5 - Garlic Fries [10/10]: My favorite bite from this place so far. Not on the happy hour menu, but 100% worth getting and eating with your fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Perfect amount of seasoning and that white wet sauce on top is so so so addicting. The unsung hero of my most recent visit was Jose over at Station 20. In addition to taking my order, he single handedly called out orders for everyone by the dining the area during the end of happy hour rush. A whole wave of customers came in less than 10 mins I placed my order so I can only imagine how overwhelming things were on the service side of things. For my most recent visit, most of my order came in and my garlic fries came in last. I could tell there was a mix up in the kitchen, but Jose apologized and said a new order would be ready for me in less than 5. Definitely worth the delay/wait imo. Food is great. Seating is limited. Customer service is superb. But once you fish your food, you gotta take a long walk along the pier. It's a wonderful way to rejuvenate and make sure the quality seafood digests well. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, including the happy hour drinks.

I've been coming to Quality Seafood for the past couple of years, usually on Fridays for fish…read moretacos, and I've ordered the same fish taco and shrimp taco combination 40 to 50 times. It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.

This little downtown area had a few different restaurants we were considering, but thanks to my wife wanting to use a washroom right away we ended up coming here. This small, but nice restaurant looks exactly how a place should look near the ocean and had a super friendly employee take our orders as well. For lunch I ended up doing the 3 for $21 deal which is exactly that, a fantastic deal. I ended up choosing the House Fries, the Tempura Fish Tacos, and the 1/2 Grilled Cheese Sandwich. How was it? House Fries- Covered in Grana Padano and Mustard Aioli, these French Fries were super crispy and tasted really, really good. Tempura Fish Tacos- Two tacos that I wish I could transform into 20. The Tempura fish here was absolutely delicious. 1/2 Grilled Cheese Sandwich- A few different cheeses between some sourdough, a simple but fantastic grilled cheese sandwich. Overall, The Hook & Plow was a fantastic place to stop for some lunch and I plan on checking out the other locations now.
