I love Malaga...it's a city by the Mediterranean, so you get beaches, a historic center, great restaurants, excellent shopping (casual as well as high end) and friendly people. Calle Larios is the main shopping area of the city and it's a pedestrian only venue where many locals and tourists hang during all hours of day. Being the birthplace of Picasso, there's a lot of information and museums regarding this famous artist. Walkable and clean, a great city to visit in Andalucía. read more
Enjoyed a day in this beautiful city from a cruise ship. The ship docks next to one of the area's 16 fabulous beaches. And is very walkable. From the ship my first venture was to hike up to the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle, one of the largest Arab fortresses in the area. The view of the city and sea is spectacular. From here I was able to peak in the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, the massive bull ring built in 1876. coming down the back side of the fortress, I landed in Plaza de La Merced and walked by the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Around the corner I discovered a Roman theatre to explore. Then into the old town to stroll around the Atarazanas Market, the Iglesia Cathedral de la Encarnacion. and find a sidewalk cafe for a late lunch. Mmmm an ice cold red sangria and jamon sandwich while people watching was the perfect lunch break. A little more of the old town, then back towards the sea. Enjoying a fantastic shaded stroll along the Parque de Malaga and into the Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso to admire the roses. One last stop for gelato, always a perfect afternoon snack for hanging out on the beach. It is a very walkable city. Clean. Well marked signs and maps. read more
I really liked everything. The beaches were great. The horchata was delicious as well as the vanilla caramel ice cream. The charanguitas r was delicious. Charanguitas means restaurant on the beach. Had a great massage and strong sangria. read more
Randomly found this restaurant, it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but they have a very well rounded tapas offering. The Malaga goat cheese is hands down the best goat cheese I've ever had. Definitely recommend trying a few things on the menu but bring a friend to help split the food with you! The portions are fairly large for tapas which is great. Very good service and super attentive and friendly. read more
