She quickly and accurately identified various skin conditions, taking the time to explain each finding in detail and clearly outlining which required concern or monitoring. I particularly appreciated the focus on sound medical skincare; there was no pushy cosmetic sales pitch, though the practice clearly offers such services for interested patients. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Nandekar and her staff. I have had a lot a basal cell carcinomas and she has done a fantastic job coming up with a treatment plan to be proactive and try to prevent reoccurrence. She is very very knowledgeable about all the newest treatments and also does everything she can to work with insurance to make sure treatments and the prescriptions she gives are covered. She is our go to dermatologist for all our family needs from acne for my teenage sons, to skin cancer removal and prevention to cosmetic treatments. So different than many doctors these days, I actually feel as though she is a trusted knowledgeable advisor that is really looking out for our best interest. Even when I have an appointment with another member of her staff for a follow up or cosmetic procedure, she always pops in to say hello or check up on how things are going. Dr. Nandedkar (aka Professional Dermatology Care) is seriously as good as it gets. Due to an unfortunate circumstance, I've been to a lot of doctors in the past several months. Out of all the doctors, only Dr. Nandedkar actually tried to find the root cause of my problem instead of prescribing me a bunch of meds to see which one would take. She and Sarah (the PA) worked with me for over a month a half through various testing to conclude that I have a serious allergic contact dermatitis to certain ingredients in products. I'm now on the mend and am extremely excited that I'm finally starting to look normal again. Both Sarah and Dr. Nandedkar are very nice and sympathetic. The past couple months have been a really rough time for me and they were liberal with sympathy, smiles, and tissues (T_T). I love their informal setting and attitude which helps me relax and open up more, rather than facing a stiff doctor who won't even look at me. Also, their electronic system is great - they have a patient portal that you can log in to view your visit history, prescriptions, and their notes on your health issues. You can even see the photos they took of your problem areas. It's a great way for me to go back to our discussion if I forget anything. Honestly, if I was a doctor, this is exactly how I would run my practice. Great system, efficient and quick, no frills or games. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen; usually no more than a minute or two. I've also been to see her last year for a minor removal which was quick and painless. Dr Nandedkar was extremely nice but we only talked about my issues. I was told by the MA that I could only have three of my issues reviewed by the doctor ( I've never been told this by any doctor ever) so I focused on those that were bothering me the most. I had a few skin tags which I was told insurance wouldn't pay for, even though my last dermatologist removed a few and my insurance did. I also had a few moles she looked over and my third issue, a clogged pore/melia I was told she would have to do on my next visit, when I'd come back for a full skin check. ***3.5 stars*** I made an appointment here last week because I have extra money in my flex spending account and I figured what better way to use it up then to spruce up the old skin? On my first call (yes, it took more than one call to make an appointment) I requested an appointment and was asked what kind of insurance I had. Silly old me thought I had HMO, so that's what I told the lady on the other end of the line. God forbid you ever tell these people you have an HMO, they act like you're a criminal! "We don't accept any HMO's!", she yelled at me. Yes, yelled! To which I reply, that's odd, I found you on my healthcare company's website which assured me you accept my insurance. I then said, my card says, "Open Access Plan". I got another, "We don't accept any HMO's!". Oh ok, I'm sorry for having wasted your precious time and insulting you by telling you I have an HMO, I'll hang up now thanks. So I didn't say that, but I did say, "Um, ok, thanks." So I did what any rational person would do...I called my insurance company so they could verify the Doctor did in fact take my insurance. Why didn't I just pick another Doctor you ask? Well I googled all of the Doctors my plan allowed for within a 10 or 15 mile radius of my residence, and this was the only one who had any reviews, and they didn't suck. So I kind of wanted to go to her. Anywho, my insurance company confirmed that she accepted my insurance plan, so armed with this information; I called back, ready for battle. I kindly informed the yeller that I called my insurance company and they assured me you participate in my plan. Yeller: We don't accept any HMO's! Me: Yes, but my card says "Open Access Plan" Yeller: Do you have an HMO? Me: I think I have an "Open Access Plan" Yeller: Is that an HMO? Me: I DON'T KNOW! I called my insurance company and they said you take my plan. Do you want to call them? Yeller: What kind of plan do you have? Me: An OPEN ACCESS PLAN Yeller: Oh, we accept that. After that the yeller got a whole lot nicer explaining to me that they don't accept HMO's and I said I had one. Yeah, thanks lady. Anyway the morning of my appointment I got uber lost, damn mapquest. So, I called the receptionist aka yeller and let her know I was coming, I was just lost and not there yet. Damn was she ever nice to me. She said she understood and thanks for calling. When I came in I never even recognized her as the yeller. In any case, on with the review...The receptionist is very nice as long as you don't have an HMO or imply in any way, shape, or form that you do. The place is a bit hard to find, and mapquest lies, so be sure you break out a good old fashioned map! All of the staff is friendly. The Doctor herself is very sweet, kind, and considerate. I just liked her. I didn't have any serious issues, just uneven skin tone and a patch of dry skin, so as for how knowledgeable she is I cannot verify. - 1/2 star because they tried to sell me $20 sunblock - 1 star because of the yelling incident I'll be going back. The nitty gritty: It is fairly easy to get an appointment here. The folks who work here are friendly, all the receptionists, PAs and doctor N. However, I am searching for another dermatologist because I did not feel like my concerns were adequately listened to or addressed. I felt like the doctor rushed through my appointment and didn't thoroughly answer my questions or explain to me what my options of treatment were. My son saw Dr. Nandedkar for horrible acne, and she was great. No issues getting an appointment, and she was easy to understand. Then, she unceremoniously passed us off to the Physician's Assistant Ms. Ashley. After an initial adjustment period, we got comfortable with Ms. Ashley and she was great. Then Ms. Ashley left (December 2014) and she wasn't replaced. Getting an appointment is nearly impossible. For a half hour follow up for a current patient, the next available appointment was over a month and a half out. I asked if they had a list for cancelled appointments, and she actually laughed, hahaha... NO. :( Dr. N is super, but that doesn't really matter if you can't get in to see her. Maybe if you have an unusual skin condition, she might be worth the wait, but for normal teenage acne, not so much. read more

Finding a doctor that you can trust, have confidence in and know that they truly are concerned about your well being is very hard to do. But I found all of that and more in Dr Nandedkar. My entire family has been going to her for 6+ years. We started with Dr Nandekar for my daughter's acne. She outlined every approach, options, benefits, and concerns. At every step we were fully informed of what could happen before we made our decision. The office is very high tech so everything is kept on a tablet computer that she or her assistants fill out during the visit. We were never rushed or pressured to make any decision. If samples were available, she would always suggest we try them prior to investing in the long term prescription. My daughter has gorgeous skin now, which we never thought would happen due to the severity of her acne. I have referred so many people to her, who have referred so many people to her. In this day in age, it is hard to find someone like Dr Nandedkar who really invest her time and care in her patients. read more

Found this doctor after researching online. During my research I found her practice's website and read through the info. The website states that they prefer you email them to schedule an appointment, which I did and promptly received a response. Using my GPS I found the practice with no problems. Its right off of Sunrise Valley, very easy to find. My appointment was for help in dealing with adult acne. I found the doctor to be very personable and helpful. I stated I didn't want any internal medications for other reasons so we discussed my topical options. She was very knowledgeable on over the counter treatments and prescription options. I finally found a great dermatologist!!!! Both Dr. N and Dr. K were extremely professional, and took the time to accurately find the cause of my skin irritation. I have been to other dermatologists where the doctor seems tries to make the appmt as short as possible so they can see other patients. That is definitely not the case here. I felt like they really cared about helping and were very thorough in explaining what was going on. Great experience going into a doctors office. My rating is due to their inflexible policy. My appt and treatment was OK. Saw Ashley. She immediately diagnosed my insect bite and prescribed a very expensive medicine. Costly probably because of my crappy insurance. My followup visit was short and sweet. Ashley said it looked fine. Couple minutes, in and out. The issue is that they charged me for the second visit, more than a month later. First I figured there would be no charge since my visit was so short. I was shocked to be charged. Good ole USA medical rip off. Tip, do not ever get sick. Also, my crappy insurance changed programs 2 days before the second visit. Of course this office does not accept the new plan. I requested a waiver or reduction of fee because it was a useless visit. Denied. First doctor that has been inflexible when I have requested such. Oh, they offered a payment plan. My son was dealing with a persistent skin problem and we have seen the Physician Assistant for it instead of the Dr. She has been nothing but positive and friendly and informative while giving us options for fixing the condition. The Dermatologist I had been using since the early 1980`s recently retired which caused me a lot of stress. However, I was very fortunate in that a longtime friend of the Family recommended Dr. Nandedkar. My first appointment was in the Summer of 2012 or the Spring of 2013. I soon discovered her office is very close to where I live in Reston which is a positive thing because I didn`t, and I still don`t, have to drive a long distance to get there. The building where Dr. Nandedkar works faces the historic The W&OD Trail Bike path which is another plus because the whole area is very quiet. For starters, I was, (and still am) very impressed with waiting room/reception area. It`s the best I`ve ever been in and the best I`ve ever seen in my Life. It really is. It has beautiful ocean blue walls, comfortable furniture, cool mirrors, the nice music playing, lovely pictures, nice book selection and the exotic Aquarium. I love that Aquarium. There`s a lot of other cool stuff there as well. Very pleasant and delightful atmosphere which puts you very much at ease and this important. I`ve never seen a waiting room/reception area as Beautiful as this one. All Doctors everywhere should model their waiting rooms after this one. If she wasn`t the brilliant Doctor that she is, Dr. Nandedkar would make a fortune as an Interior Decorator. She`s clearly very skilled and talented at both. Dr. Nandedkar was extremely kind to me. She instantly recognized my problem and she prescribed the right medication I needed. All this was a HUGE relief. I no longer need to stress about my original Dermatologist retiring because I knew then that Dr. Nandedkar was my new and permanent Dermatologist. Dr. Nandedkar has a cool website too. Another benefit is that I can always set up my appointments through the office e-mail as well as through calling. Plus if I have a question or concern I can always relay that through e-mail as well. Another plus is the parking lot outside the building is huge so parking is never a problem. The front office staff is first rate. They always return all e-mails and phone calls very promptly. They are always first rate professionals. Very courteous, respectful and responsible. They do a great job. I recently returned for some appointments in the Spring of 2014. Once again they helped me resolve my medical problem. Each time I brought a book with me to read. I was pleasantly surprised because with each appointment I didn`t have any time to read the book because Dr. Nandedkar and Ms. Ashley Keramas saw me immediately upon arrival. It doesn't get any better than that. It just doesn`t. Once again, just like with my very first appointment in 2012 or 2013, Dr. Nandedkar and Ms. Ashley Keramas were both very kind,helpful and very Professional. I've seen more than a couple dermatologists due to frequent moves, and Dr. Nandedkar is my favorite so far. Very knowledgeable, quick yet thorough. I haven't had to wait long to see her once in the office, although getting an appointment is a few weeks out. I've been to the office a few times, with each visit progressively worse than the first. The physician assistant looks to be about 12 years old, and while I have no doubt she is smart, she over compensates by throwing out medical terminology left and right and is too busy formulating her answers to your questions instead of listening to what the patient is actually asking. My biggest problem is actually with Dr. Nandedkar. I began coming to this office b/c I switched jobs/insurance and my preferred provider was out of network. I recently saw Dr. N for a few troublesome moles. Having a long history of extremely small dysplastic moles in the past, I'm fairly competent in gauging which will be problematic, not to mention my family has a history of skin cancer as well. Dr. Nandekar refused to biopsy anything, saying these lesions "looked benign". I insisted that I would need to have them removed because they are identical to past problematic spots, to which she suggested I either pay out of pocket for a cosmetic biopsy, or she would need to take a photo of it and have me return in a month saying my mole had changed so she could remove it. Now I understand physicians are under scrutiny with insurance companies, but the fact that she wants my insurance to pay for 2 visits when something could be done in 1 is also an issue that isn't lost on me. In fact, all other dermatology offices I've visited (and I've been to many) will code something as being medically necessary when it is sent to pathology. Rather than keeping a pre-cancerous mole on my body for 1 day longer, I opted to pay out of pocket and have it removed. Today I received a call from the office stating that the lesion was indeed dysplastic and that I would need to come in for them to remove the surrounding area around the biopsy. Of course I notified them that I would be going somewhere else. She doesn't utilize evidence based medicine, rather she is quick to tell you her opinion on things that are impossible to confirm with the naked eye. While she lectures you on the insurance implications of "cosmetic procedures", she is also trying to screw you and your insurance company over by scheduling you to come in for visit after visit. read more

Dr Nandekar did an excellent job of finding the cause of my blistering and hives. It took stopping some medications but that didn't help. Went back on medication. Skin tests showed I was allergic to many things including the blue dye in blue jeans. Poor me. read more

Hands down by far the best dermatologist ever.. Not only can she figure out how to medically treat you , but even after my doctor visit her assistant helped me through the most difficult 30 days of my life with generalized pustular psoriasis which was caused by use of a biologic called humira in which another doctor had prescribed to me. I was sent to dr nandedkar from my primary doctor. It wasn't my primary doctor who was there for me. It was dr nandedkar and ger assistant who helped me even after hours via phone, text, and email., I don't know what I would have done without them!!! read more

She also glossed over three pre-malignant moles which have since been treated by my new dermatologist. Came in for a consultation with Dr. Nandedkar today about spots removal. She's a great doctor and really cares about her patients. She suggested performing the removal during the fall time since its summer now and the sun rays will cause pigmentations if performed now. Dr. Nandedkar is a proactive physician that considers your whole health. I don't have the words to describe how crucial my visit to her was five years ago. She listened to me describe my symptoms, ran blood work and then referred me to a hematologist. If Dr. Nandedkar had not referred me, I would now be dead or at best in stage four of colon cancer. See, I had blood loss that lead to hair loss which is why I went to her as a dermatologist. The blood loss was apparently because of a pre-cancerous polyp in my colon. I give her five stars because she saved my life and ensured that I could have a healthy life over the past five years. It all started with her. Hypocrite! I was late to my first appointment due to road construction. I just wanted to the doctor to take a look at a very minor facial mole and determine whether that's a cancerous one or benign. The receptionists didn't allow me even after pleading that it doesn't take her long to just take one look. No, the receptionists wouldn't listen. They tell me that if they accommodate me, they would delay other patients. They rescheduled me for another appointment after 10 days. I was so fed up with their attitude that I didn't want to go to them again, but I was also scared of the 'canceled appointment charges'. So I thought I have no other alternative, let me check whether she'll live up to her professed punctuality. So for my next appointment, I was twenty minutes early, but I got to see the assistant after 20 minutes and the doctor after 35 minutes from my appointment time. So much for her punctuality. After putting me through so much trouble, she told me that my mole was a benign one in less than a minute and was in a rush to leave. She didn't have the time to ask if I have any other questions or concerns And here is the interesting part. I told her she could have accommodated me at my first visit. She gave her routine answer, I don't want to delay other patients. I asked her then why she delayed me now. She was very unapologetic, and said 'I don't know' very casually. Great answer! And then she went on to say, I see that you are not happy, you can see another dermatologist. What a revelation! I don't know what impression I might have given her, but I see these two possibilities. A) I don't have the common sense to figure out that I can see another doctor if I am not happy with her. OR B)I love the abusive relationship with my doc and so I want to go to her again and again no matter how little respect she has for others time. Move over Ms.Nandedkar, you are not even an expert, based on some other review from the same website: "I just expect a Dermatologist to be able to propery identify items on my body and not tell me they are 99% sure about something, and be completly wrong." read more

I went to see Dr. Nadedkar for the first time yesterday. I called to make an appointment and was seen within just a couple of days. The office waiting area is very modern, relaxing, made you feel like you were in a hotel lobby, not a sterile doctor's office. The nurse who interviewed me prior to Dr. N was helpful and friendly. Dr. N came into the examining room and greeted me with a great deal of warmth and professionalism. She was very thorough with her examination, answered my questions and made me feel completely at ease. My wife would have been a new patient of this Doctor and after a one month advance appointment scheduling, we visited the office today and were handed standard insurance forms to be filled out. I explained that we do not sign the HPPA release which is our right by law. When the office manager stated that they insist upon HPPA to be signed, I stated that I would sign it under duress. It is stated clearly on their form that I can later ask that HPPA be refused. Since it took so long to get an appointment with this Doctor, I decided to sign it anyway. The office manager came back to us and refused to accept us as new patients. I would strongly suggest that you find ANY other Dermatologist other than here. Buyer beware!! read more

Moved to VA a couple of years ago and saw one dermatologist but wasn't thrilled with him. Knew it was time for a full skin exam again so booked with Dr. N after reading reviews! Soo glad I did. I like her - a lot! I like her informalness, puts me at ease. She found three suspicious spots on me and we booked an appointment to have them removed. She's FANTASTIC with a needle, and two of them went into my face near my eyes. I have referred her to two female friends. I also have my fiancee going there to see her - she saw him once for psoriasis on his elbow. She confirmed he has a bad case of psoriatic arthritis, which we had suspected was the problem. Very happy with my first-time visit to Dr. Nandedkar. She quickly diagnosed my mystery skin rash as shingles and started me on an Rx that day. Three pills later I was already feeling significantly better. She was very pleasant and took the time to explain the diagnosis and the use of the meds and ointment.
