The restaurant was welcoming and the staff courteous and efficient. Over the course of the enjoyable two-hour dinner, I remarked that I had never seen waiters walk as quickly as those at La Vieille Auberge, whether hustling to the kitchen to pick up food for guests or from the kitchen with same. They all worked together, not simply assigned to one section of the restaurant. My wife had for her main dish one of the house specialties, paëlla, which was a mix of local seafood, chorizo and spiced rice. I had canard parmentier, described in the English-language menu as "duck shepherd pie." We shared an entrée of fish soup and a dessert of tiramisu. All the dishes were very well-made, tasty and well presented. My wife ate every bit of her paëlla, which is unusual for her. The bill was less than €50, but the only wine we had was a glass of sangria before dinner. Even so, I think La Vieille Auberge was good value for money. Clearly, many other people agree with this assessment: virtually every seat in the restaurant was filled tonight, some more than once. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular customer here.

Should have realized, a bit too late, that it is a tourist trap, no locals, plenty of foreign (…read moreEnglish ) language. Poor waiters swamped, not their fault, kitchen overworked, Monday night, many establishments closed so everyone flocks to what's open. Results in cold, mediocre food, even when hungry, had to leave half the food uneaten. Wait until Wednesday, most restaurants open then. And ask locals where they go: probably not there.

We had an "Assiette de charcuterie" that was really generous for two people; and really tasteful too. The mussels were great and fresh, and the tartare was extremely generous and fresh too, maybe seasoned a little bit too much. The fries were homemade; and you could totally feel it! I would totally recommend this quiet yet happy place, which is totally worth it! Would come back again! Thanks for the good times.

The highlight here is an extensive wine list, quite expensive patron wine list or much more affordable yet excellent every day wine by the glass, pichet or bottle. As far as the food goes, you can go tapas style or regular a la carte appetizers and entrees. All the food we ordered was excellent especially the calamars and the andouillette. We appreciated the quality of the white wine pichet. Overall a good address just be ready for the crowd, high noise level and service on the slow side.
