Mom and I came in on a bit of a whim--a coffee break was in order a head of our shop--and we're very pleased with what we discovered. Entry to the building is free--just pass through security and head on in while the building is open. If you want to check out the museum portion, just buy a ticket at the counter. The awesome news is the that the famous Oval Room is part of your free admission (it's one benefit of visiting an actual library). In addition to the beautiful architecture, you can head around the perimeter of the room and enjoy interactive mini-exhibits that include a virtual dress-up, trivia, and a hidden images game. On your way out (or in), stop and enjoy a coffee and a snack. The scones are great!

It houses a copy of all publications in Paris, and its museum traces back to 1368. My nephew had spent a lot of time studying in the Oval Room, and wanted to show it to me, since he knows I like libraries. He knew the less busy entrance, so got in after a few minutes in line, having to go through both an x-ray machine and hand search for backpacks. We didn't stay very long as the Oval Room's sitting areas were completely full, but that first view into the Oval Room is breath-taking.

Which includes access to computers and wifi. It's a very nice library . No large bags allowed inside . I had my luggage and had to leave it in the front which wasn't an issue. Overall great experience and would recommend if you need to use a computer for work while you travel . Very quiet too.

We enjoyed roaming the floors during an unexpected rain shower, and enjoyed all the historical tomes exhibited here. We did not sign up for cards, and therefor did not get to explore the rooms or stacks, but we did enjoy our walk around. During college (as a history major), it was frequently joked that you haven't really researched in a library if you haven't wound up making out in the stacks... well, after a day of research, I enjoyed some fun pictures and 'making out' with my husband, making this a thoroughly educational stop in our London adventure.

If you plan on seeing any of the actual exhibits or checking out the areas that actually house the books, you'll need to sign up for one of their cards. I also can't really imagine getting much work or studying done here. It can be pretty difficult to find a seat and it's so loud and busy that you may be better off going somewhere else.

I only live around the corner from this Camden library branch, which is Holly Lodge. And even up to this day, I will always use the services at Highgate Library, for hiring out DVDs, PC printing and the photo copy machine. And I even reserve books and DVD from Highgate Library. Highgate Library is literally right next door to Highgate Cemetery, the place of Karl Marx's tomb.

They have mostly books in English and then French but also quite a collection for the other NATO nation languages such as Turkish, Slovak, German, Polish, etc. Not only is it possible to check out books, but there are also 1000+ DVDs and Blu-rays, as well as audio books, games for Wii consoles and Nintendo DS, as well as others. There are also about 10 computers that can be used that are hooked up to the internet. T The library also hosts artists with one part of the building dedicated to art exhibitions. There is often some very interesting artwork displayed by both local and international artists. Oh, they have a variety of monthly magazines and daily newspapers available as well.
