This was a bit of a strange experience, I have to admit. When we first arrived, we decided to have lunch as the deli counter looked pretty good. We went to sit down and were given a menu, that had nothing from the deli counter listed, or even mentioned. When we asked, we were given a shrug and said, yeah you can have whatever. Whatever what? How much? Such things were a mystery and it was starting to feel rather stressful, especially as non meat options were almost non existent on the menu itself. A few minutes later a second waitress showed up who was able to explain that we could pick salads from the deli from either a small or a large bowl.
So, the Sr went for a steak sandwich, and I decided to have the salad counter option, large bowl with a slice of quiche, and went to pick my salads - of which there was a carrot salad (turned out to be a carrot and cheese salad...wierd). chickpea and eggplant, and other interesting options. However, when plated, it was all a bit of a letdown - normally I find salads are pretty delicious, and full of flavour, but these were all just a bit oily and bland. The cheese and carrot combo was just... naff.
However, the SR really enjoyed his lunch, pronouncing it one of his favourites. So, we agreed to disagree, and not visit again. read more
