They fit me in as a walk-in. My wife approved when I came home after my trip. They had pictures of dogs. Any questions? read more

Stopped in for a quick cut. Took walk ins and I didn't even wait 5 minutes once I got cash. Nothing to difficult med. Skin fade but they were quick and gave a great haircut. Price was a little high in my opinion vat $20 however I'm not from here so not sure what the going rate is for a barber. Only knock is cash only and I didn't know until I saw it on a written sign. Had to walk over a block to an ATM to get cash. Not a huge deal though, minor inconvenience. read more

One of the best prices in town and my haircut was great. I gave some broad instructions and the lady did a great job with it, super casual vibe in there I loved it. read more

they are a great barber shop, good and excellent services great and kind experienced workers with a fast and quality haircut, also there prices are amazing and affordable for anyone, the setting is great with a comfortable greeting when you arrive with plenty of chairs to sit in with a nice cool breeze through the place. read more

Great cuts. Great atmosphere, couldn't recommend it more. All hair dressers are long time experienced and efficient. It is well priced so tip generously! read more

Calling them a barbershop is a stretch. I went in asking for an undercut and about an inch off the top. What I got was an uneven buzz cut with over an inch taken off the top. The back of my head is so inconsistent in the cut that my family asked if I got into a fight with a lawn mower. Then when working on my beard, same story. No clean line up, no symmetry across the sides. Without a doubt the worst haircut I have ever received. I think the glaring looks from those waiting to get their cut next had fear in their eyes seeing what they were in for. There are standards for what constitutes as a barbershop and this place clearly has none. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. I got sat down with Suzanne and she absolutely butchered my hair. i had asked for a fade and a little off the top. I got zero fade whatsoever, it was very uneven on the top and she managed to CUT me twice. I recommend never going to Main St Barbers. Not unless you want a bad haircut. read more

The lady with the ugly blonde hair cut my bangs, didn't layer them, and now I look like a little Korean boy. Not happy about this.

Wow, what a hidden treasure! I usually go to a different barber shop in Burlington but stumbled on this one the other day. I got a great haircut before my job interview and I really appreciate how kind and professional my barber was. read more

Been going here for years and haven't yet been super disappointed. As a visibly queer person, barber shops can sometimes be a minefield. There was one situation where one barber refused to cut my hair because "they dont cut women's hair" but another one quickly stepped in, and I have a feeling that person was new/maybe left because I've never seen them again. Be advised they only take cash. read more

I just went down to Main Street Barbers as a walk-in for my first haircut in Burlington. I had Suzanne as a hairdresser, she was lovely to talk to and gave me an amazing haircut. They give great haircuts at a great price and I highly recommend stopping in! read more

Walked in midday on a Friday and was seen immediately. I got a perfectly good haircut in a very short amount of time and for a very reasonable price. The shop itself was comfortable and well-lit. I'll be back! read more

Main St Barbers gave me (femme woman) a classic fade with no fuss. I've been turned away at barber shops before but Janean told me "if there's hair on your head I'll cut it." She took time to make sure she understood what I wanted and talked me through the lengths she was using on the clippers. Only charged me $13 since I didn't get any length off the top. No frills, just a nice, clean barbershop with talented staff. My only suggestion is that if you go in the morning, plan to show up around 9am or later. The advertised open time of 8am seems to be kind of casual and no fuss about it, too. That being said, I told Janean when I needed to be on my way and she did a great cut in record time. I think I was in and out of her chair (after waiting for a bit for them to open) in 25min, flat. read more

Main Street Barbers - Freshly buzzed. - Barbers Near Me - Burlington, Vermont

I was in town with my son who is starting college in Burlington and he needed a haircut. Luckily we found this nice barber shop. The sweet curly haired blond lady named Emily was his barber and did a wonderful job! I'm a little anxious about my son being away from me, but at least I know he will be in good hands in Vermont. (At least for his hair lol) read more

07/01/2021: Due to COVID, my regular barber was still setting appointments and was scheduled 2 weeks out. I needed a haircut before leaving town on a trip, so I called Main Street Barbers on 6/30 to set an appointment. I first asked the lady who answered the phone if they took walk-ins. The answer was a resounding YES! This lady went on to tell me how they were moving away from appointment setting post-covid, to accommodating walk-ins only. I asked if that meant I can't set an appointment, and she affirmed that they were not taking reservations. I said great. Well, today I show up at 9:30AM. Only 2 people were in the shop. The Barber, and her client who was in the Barber's chair. No one else was waiting in the shop. When I walked in she asked if I was there for a haircut. I said yes. she began to hedge as she walked to her counter to check her appointment book, then told me she couldn't take me because she was booked! You can imagine my surprise, and then frustration. I said to her that I called yesterday and the person who answered the phone told me walk ins were welcome. I also told her I asked about making a reservation when I called. She then began telling me how one of her barber's called out that morning and she just couldn't take me. She sure didn't look busy with no one there. I made room in my schedule and paid $ for parking based on the information I received when I called. NOBODY was waiting in que. You would think that after I explained that I called and was told walk-ins only, she would have welcomed me in. No! To me this is terrible customer service. I guess they get all the business they want that they can turn people away from an EMPTY shop! I emphasize because it's just so unbelievable someone can tell you one thing ("walk-ins welcome") and then tell you they're too busy when you get there and you look around and there is no one there but 1 customer and the barber. My hometown barber would let people walk in and fill up the seats. He would then lock the door at 4PM, then cut the hair of every person that remained inside until he was done with them all. That is the sign of a true professional. One committed to serving his / her customers. I guess I'll never get to see how well they cut hair. I will never darken that door way again. I will tell everyone I know! I will shout it from the roof tops along Main Street! "Main Street Barber's don't stand behind their word!" Why am I ranting over what seems like a minor inconvenience? Because I appreciate honesty and people who back their word. Main Street Barbers are just empty promises and hollow truths. Rant over. Gonna buy me a Flow-Be. read more

They gave my uncle a greaT haircut and it was very reasonably priced! They say this review isn't long enough.. what more do they want?

Great shop. Arrived around 12 pm and didn't have to wait longer than five minutes to get a great cut. There were about 4 barbers in there at the same time. Although I was indecisive about what I wanted done with my hair, the lady that cut it had a great deal of patience and ended giving me exactly what I wanted. Would recommend 10/10. However, they don't have those razor knives that that some barbers have. I LOVE how those feel on my head and the way they cut perfect lines. Besides their lack of those knifes, I was very happy with the service. read more

Burlington's best kept secret. If you want a real barber shop fade this is the place to get it done. (Ive tried many barbers here before Main Street Barbers and they did an excellent job in comparison) They understand men's barber shop haircuts and how to fade. Moving here from Brooklyn has been hard to find a barber but I'm very happy with the work that Teri's done. She was great to chat with during the cut and very friendly. I'm definitely going back to see her. $15 for a haircut. What a deal! read more

I have been going to Main Street Barbers for years. I have tried other places since I moved about 35 miles from Burlington but I still find my way back to get my hair cut with them. They are friendly, do a good job and charge an appropriate price for a men's haircut. read more

I don't understand how other shops stay in business when there's such a first-class experience available downtown for $15. How often have you gotten a haircut from a barber who seems barely to have listened to what you wanted your hair to look like? Well, Never Again. All of these ladies are talented, personable, efficient, and responsive. Also, unlike some local places (cough, cough, GTO) they want you to like the way you look when you leave-- not the way they look when you arrive. The environment is clean but absent the chi-chi trappings of places that will charge you twice as much for half the haircut. In case you're there during your workday, they provide tee shirts to wear while you're under the blades, which really improves your post-cut experience. Don't go on Monday or Thursday evenings, because that's when I go and I don't want to wait for a chair-- that said, it's totally worth the wait. TL;DR Great haircuts every time, for cheap. read more

A friend of mine got his first ever haircut there, and they did a great job. (His mom had been cutting his hair until he was 20). They were very reassuring and walked him through the whole shebang. The stylists were nice and welcoming. They have super weird hours though, so make sure to call ahead if you are thinking of walking over for a cut. I also appreciate them since they support the DREAM program, a local non-profit. read more

This place is great! I searched for months for a good barber in Burlington that wasn't too expensive and would give a classic mens cut to a woman - and this is the place. I'm a butch, masculine of center queer woman and I like a classic tight fade mens haircut. Some places in town could sort-of do what I wanted, but then they would charge $35, or worse they wouldn't be able to do the haircut and then charge me more just because I'm a women! Then I found Main Street Barbers. The women who run this place are pros. They cut my hair perfectly, without any judgement, and charged me simply the price of a clipper cut - $15. They made lovely small talk and were very attentive. I came in 15 minutes before closing and my barber stayed open late to give a perfect cut. I will definitely be going back to Main Street Barbers. I'm so happy that I've found them!!! read more

Meticulous attention to deal and a warmth you don't find often. Will definitely be coming back! I get a 3 on the sides 2 on the top and it's amazing how many places will miss a spot or not fade correctly. Can't be said for here!! read more

I've been going here for quite a few years and have always been please, but even more so now. My family recently moved and I was instructed at the last minute to get my haircut (happy wife, happy life). I made the mistake of trying a barber shop in my area that came recommended and was in business for decades (hint his name is Garry and he's in Essex). However this guy didn't cut all my hair and even cut my sideburns uneven. I can't believe I had to do it, but I made the trip into Burlington to see my old stand by Main Street Barbers immediately after this fiasco. I'm glad I did. Once again my haircut came out perfect and they cleaned up the mess that was made. Thank you ladies and I promise that I won't make that mistake again, nor should anyone else. Cutting hair seems simple, but take it from me it's not. read more

Cheap and easy. Walk ins only. I've had good and bad cuts here as far as a white, male's hair goes. Be descriptive with the haircut you want. e.g. "scissors only" or "cut x inches off" Overall homey place with kind stylists. read more

Wow! Best barber in years. I stopped in and was greeted by the friendly ladies. The three chairs were filled, but I only had to wait ~10 minutes. The attention to detail was some of the best I have ever received. I was unsure exactly what I wanted besides it to be shortened in a few spots. The barber was very explicit on what she could do and what the end result would be. This is not a place where you feel like the barber is trying to get you in and out of the door as quickly as possible. Last, but not least the price was $15. Tip well because this place deserves it. The decor is not like a top-end salon, but it is clean and the attention to detail and sincerity towards customers really shines. read more

I came in for a men's cut. I have never left a negative review on Yelp, but was really hurt by the service that I received here. I waited for nearly an hour without being greeted or asked what I was looking for, which is not a problem as my sister is a hairdresser back home, and small businesses tend to stay very busy (& work long hours). I was told immediately that they "didn't do women's cuts", but clarified that I was in fact there for a men's cut. The stylist said "I'm sorry, I assumed that you were here with someone else, I specialize in male cuts only." I showed the photo, and she said that she was not comfortable and that it was not a men's cut. The stylist was apologetic, but insisted on extremely gendered cuts (and as someone who is non-binary, this was not great - I explicitly ask for men's cuts to avoid this). There is a sign that states that stylists have different areas of comfort and interest, but watched this stylist cut the hair of multiple men before me, and the insinuation was that she could not cut my hair because it "wasn't men's" rather than that it "wasn't her style" was really hurtful. After I drove an hour to come to this specific shop, came in when multiple stylists were available, and waited nearly an hour to be told that not only was I not able to get my hair cut at all, I was told that the "sign states it". I felt absolutely humiliated being turned away, and although the stylists seemed to mean well, I will never be back. Undoubtedly the most embarrassing and hurtful time at the hairdresser that I have experienced. read more

This was the first time I even tried to go to get a haircut here. I called and asked for an appointment, THEY gave me a 10:15 appointment. It's 17 degrees outside and when I got there they told me "to wait outside for a few minutes". 15 minutes passed and they still hadn't said anything to me, so I just decided to leave. Customer service clearly isn't a priority here and I definitely won't attempt going back. read more

Teri has cut my hair twice and has done a really great job. She's attentive and friendly and has the experience to provide a great-looking cut. When I tried something new, she was honest about what she thought would work and did a great job even when I was a little nervous about the outcome. They do not take credit cards, but she did trust me to walk to an ATM AFTER the haircut! Very cool people, I highly recommend Main Street Barbers. read more

I was visiting from NYC and it was Monday most of the salons are closed here but I found this salon and when I got in a beautiful lady greeted me with a wide smile! Wonderful place for a hair cut and beard trim. Walk ins only and being from out of state this place (and the staff) was awesome.

I've had plenty of bad, terrible, and just downright hideous haircuts in the past few years. I'm always nervous going to a new barbershop because while my hair doesn't seem that difficult to cut, it has a mind of its own. All three chairs were occupied when I arrived and two other guys were waiting. I was seated within 15 minutes. I'm used to a barber that doesn't talk much and has you in and out in 5 minutes flat. Certainly not the case here! The women here talk to each other and talk to you about your day, your plans, and anything else under the sun. If the cut is not quite the way you want, they'll make sure it's to your liking. I'm so glad I found Main Street Barbers and I will certainly be back soon! read more

I came to this place because I needed a barber and the barber I would usually go to was out of town. I came here because I saw that they had good reviews on Yelp.
