Good breakfast but nothing special…read more The place itself is really nice looking and has a nice vibe too. It's counter service so should make an order first before getting a number for your table. I went with the halloumi dish. Thought the halloumi should be more saltier or at least that's how I like my halloumi. Also if they added zaater to the dish it would be great! My wife went with the avocado on toast dish which tasted as expected no surprises. Finally we shared the pancakes. The fluffiness was great but thought it needed more syrup to make it more sugary to our liking.

Went to Muddy Crab and had excellent tacos that day. (Go there instead for lunch) This time we arrived 5:30pm and were seated promptly. We asked if the fried chicken and calamari were starters or entrees. Waitress told us they certainly were enough for entrees. Not true. Both orders were very skimpy portions. Both were fairly tasteless and were served both with tasteless and insipid sauces, neither very enjoyable. Thought salting would help but didn't. At checkout, waitress asked if we wanted separate checks!! Highly insulting, seeing I already had my money out to pay and were obviously traveling together as a married couple. This place is strange and with the menu being mostly burgers, the prices are laughable. Owner/chef/manager sat at tables with customers the entire time. He needs to be in the kitchen cooking better food. This place needs to retrain the servers and deserves a good menu overhaul. Definitely not worth the price. Won't be back.

Pretty much along the lines of what you would get at McDonald's.

The service this time around was pretty crap though, we had to go up and get our own menus and were looked at weirdly when we asked for another drinks menu. There were no high chairs which is a pain when you have a toddler. Weirdly there were a lot of toddlers in this establishment as well, and I bet every parent there thought the same as me! Last time around at this place I do not remember the service being so poor, so it may have just been an off day! When i came to the menu this time New Plymouth however I chose to branch out and get something more "exotic". Southern Fried chicken and Waffles with Louisiana style Hollandaise was the pick. It came out and looked the part but the waffles were soggy the chicken was good the Louisiana style Hollandaise was relatively flavorless. So all around underwhelming really. Although this time around my experience was underwhelming this place is generally pretty good. Like I said at the beginning if fancy mince and toast is the kinda thing to float your breakfast or brunch boat I suggest you call in and visit these guys, that's the local go to dish and always a winner!
