I asked if I could try on a few things in the fitting room , so I did I had opened my purse to grab my phone because someone was calling me . I thought nothing of it , I get out of the fitting room and check out the employee is still being extremely rude towards me . For no reason I was complimenting the store, and how gorgeous it was and I was smiling the whole time and killing her with kindness. I checked out and was heading out of the store ( I have worked retail for years ) . Then the employee starts screaming at me in front of the street with many people watching as I'm getting into my vehicle. She said I was a thief ! At that point I was balling my eyes out and literally poured everything out of purse onto the ground to prove I had not stolen any item. She continued to berate me in front of everyone and her reasoning is because she heard my zipper to my purse in the dressing room. She had short curly and was caucasian and in her 40s . I had no right to be treated that way and won't be coming back! I called the owner and she said she would speak with her employees I hope she did! Other than that it was a cool store . Of course, there are still some campy items, but when they're strategically placed and don't become the rule, it makes for an interesting place of exploration. I was for some reason, drawn to all the cast iron pans -- all old, probably seasoned from years of use in nearby ranches and farms. I'm sure they each had a story. Getting the story was the challenge, though. And if a story is what you want, the owners have them, if you have patience. Like some small towns, there's a certain reticence with out of towners. That's easily overcome by either ignoring it, or facing it head on with asking lots of questions. Interest or money or sometimes both, talks -- everywhere. Stop in. You can spend hours, days, a lifetime in this store and still not see "everything". But that's the joy of visiting this place. It's very well organized and the owner is really friendly and helpful. She lets you shop and is always nearby if needed. She has an impeccable memory for details and knows her stuff! She can tell you about every trinket, every painting, every piece of furniture in that store. There are legit antiques, including large pieces of furniture, clocks, lamps and home decor. She also has a large array of vintage things like games, toys, and collectibles. The handmade display case at front was designed by her husband and holds shelves and shelves of wonderful costume jewelry. It's definitely worth the stop in Big Timber if you have a niche that needs scratching. No coins or metals though. She says that is a whole different category, of which she prefers not to meddle. :)
