Located on the north side of the South Congress hotel. Pretty decent sized restaurant with bar seating and inside/outside tables which can accommodate a good sized group. There's also space that can be enclosed for a private event. Dropped in for dinner - the vibe is loud with the music blasting and the din of conversation (was really hard to hear over the volume). Had a reservation and showed up a little early but ended up still waiting for a few minutes past for our table to be set up. Peach Pit - booze forward like an old fashioned but with a peachy fini Berry. Boozy. Cocktail. - booze forward bourbon drink. Slightly sweet and fruity. Crab claws. This was good. Garlicky and savory with a slight tang. Served with some bread. Dredge it though the sauce. So good. Spinning salad. Not usually a huge beet fan normally but I liked this salad. Grilled oysters. Wow slightly spicy but these were the star of the dinner. Grilled mushrooms. Didn't do it for me. Had balsamic vinegar so they were just sour tasting. Max and cheese. These come with a topping of breadcrumb crumbles for a crunchy texture. Thick and sticky and cheesy. Really good when piping hot. Clumpy and not as great as they cooled. Also very salty. Prime rib. A huge cut of prime rib slightly uneven with one side thick tapering down to a thinner side. Perfectly medium and pink/red throughout. Horseradish sauce was mild. Server sitting in gravy. This was good but I think I'd opt for a grilled steak. Next time. NOTE: Maie Day tacks on a 4% surcharge for employee costs. This amount is included in the subtotal and is taxed. Phenomenal food and excellent service from Nathan and the other bartenders. I had excellent recommendations throughout the whole menu and enjoyed a mocktail along with my meal. The location is awesome but the interior feels confusing. Half Steakhouse, half smoothie bar was kind of the vibe but it's not like that ruins an experience. (Let's say 3.5 stars) I've been wanting to try this place out for a while as it's within walking distance for me. I usually like to Congress happy hour style (if you know what i mean) but this place has an early happy hour. The husband and I finally had an afternoon where we could make it to their early happy hour so here we go.... Crab Dip- ordered by waitress recommendation I would say she is right...this is a good dish. Not too crabby in flavor and crab was nicely shredded for a good "dip". Squash hushpuppy was a nice way to sneak veggies into our kids tummies as you couldn't even tell squash was hiding in there. Just wish portion size was bigger. Especially for $25. Raw oysters - good quality oysters. Just know it comes as 6 for the $24. Smoked Fish Dip - It's a gamble when you order smoked fish (lol) but in fact this dip was not too smokey and not too fishy at all. It was a bit onion heavy but still trumped the Crab Dip in flavor in my eyes. The house "Ritz" crackers were a good concept but a little overly toasted flavor this batch (not sure if that's how they normally like it cooked). So, I normally don't like to let cost play a factor in my reviews because trust me, I will pay good money for good food. But for this happy hour feast - cost to flavor to portion ratio was way off. read more

We had an amazing dining experience at Maie Day! It gets busy so be sure to make a reservation in advance. I did call three times and leave two voicemails and never heard back so I was nervous coming into the meal. I had a reservation at 6pm and they were already sold out of the prime rib so I recommend coming on the earlier side. Our server was very nice and efficient. The food was exceptional, I highly recommend the Mac and cheese for the table. The decor and ambiance was relaxed yet elegant. I definitely suggest trying this place. read more

Overall Maie Day was good. I personally didn't think of it being anything special. I will say the portions are huge. It's on par with a normal steakhouse you would go too. I started with the Pitch & Tease it was a frozen drink with a deep eddys lemon base peach tea. It was good and refreshing. My friend and I shared a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp was plump. Overall I enjoyed the sides more than the steak. The sunchokes were delicious. The funeral potatoes was their version of scalloped potatoes. I had no issues with service. I went during their first month. The staff was super helpful and guiding us through the menu. The tables are relatively close and pretty hard to hear. read more

Whoa.. that was a serious meat party. First, we were greeted by multiple servers pouring us waters and taking care of us. Walter seemed to team up with Ashley for the bulk of our needs and both were charming and attentive. Walker was helpful in explaining everything from the types of Oysters that were dropped off the the veggies and steaks. The Oyster's were really good, at least two of the three varieties were delicious, the third was mmm Otey... The menu is broken up to mostly massive steaks at 16oz. That included their Prime, Rib-Eye and Strip all at $65. The Tenderloin was 8oz and priced at $50. There were various other things like a Pork Chop, Chicken Fried Steak and a whole fish offered. The sides were plentiful as well. Here's what you probably shouldn't do. The 16oz is a definite split entree size. The prime rib was exceptional, but I couldn't finish but half of it. The Rib-Eye was definitely also a split portion. I guess one could handle the Tenderloin, the mistake we made was everyone got their own steak, which meant an overload of food on the table. Along with four sides, it was easily enough for 8. Nonetheless, they were delicious. The only small downside was Mac/Cheese and Corn were a tad disappointing. Mushrooms and Green Beans exceptional. There are several excellent cocktails and a large wine list to quench one's thirst. You can certainly drop some serious cash in here, especially if you go the one steak per person plate. Good news, they were all terribly accomodating in boxing everything up for us to take home. Some great Steak Salads will be coming out to lunch tomorrow! read more

My review is solely for the prime rib special on Fridays - it was my first time going to Maie Day and it was a warm afternoon so it felt lovely sitting on the patio. Great location on south Congress. Server was friendly. The prime rib is an 8oz portion but ours had to be bigger, generous portions, I did not finish mine. Cooked perfectly. It came with horseradish that was pretty good. Ordered a side of mashed potatoes which was tasty. This was a quick lunch this time but I'd definitely come back for a casual lunch again with cocktails. Loved the parking validation. read more

We made reservations for via OpenTable for a Friday to have their lunch Prime Rib special. Beware if you have a 11am reservation they really do not let you in until 11am. Additionally, seems there is something up with their AC. They had a swamp cooler at the front and near the kitchen. It could be the open flame in the kitchen which keeps the dining room warm. They have a duo playing music at a level that is too loud for lunch. The special comes with mash potatoes that contain a lot of butter. Like you are sucking on a butter stick. When I say comes with it is an additional $8 and honestly not worth it at all. We also got the thick cut bacon but I would pass on that if I came back. Overall an ok lunch. Glad we tried it but will not be back. Looking at their regular menu prices seem high. I know everything is high but based on the lunch special I would not pay these prices. The longest wait was for our check. We literally waited 20 minutes for someone to realize we were done, hot and annoyed by how loud the music was. It's got tons of toppings and there is some kind of aioli blended into the avocado I think. The place is super cute and they were playing indie music circa 2005-2010s. Love that. Minus one star because the queso was truly terrible. The name was a play on Bob Armstrong dip but this was not it at all. Instead of being made with Extra Melt cheese, it was something else entirely that had a mealy texture. No one in my group wanted it. read more

Who doesn't want a cinnamon roll for an appetizer? -Mimosas: The mimosas were just the way I like them: mostly sparkling wine, with a splash of juice. They had a variety of fruit juices to choose from for the mimosas, including the classic orange juice. -Biscuits and gravy: So good, a classic take on this savory brunch dish. -Sugar waffles: The yummy waffles were topped with tons of delicious berries and a coffee whipped cream--I was surprised by how much I liked the whipped cream, as I'm not typically a big coffee-flavor fan. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about this brunch. Just stopped for Sunday brunch, and have to say my experience was OK..... at the bar, had good service, but I ordered the prime rib, hash, which was extremely disappointing... There may have possibly been one ounce of finally diced prime rib, with a lot of potatoes and vegetables... If I didn't know, itwas prime-Rib..., I wouldn't have been able to identify that there was any meat. Odd for a Michelin Star restaurant... with extreme food cost focus won't trick many customers... Excited to try this newish chophouse on Soco. Anywhere that has wood fired meats, I'm in! Loved the ambiance of the wood fire grill and that you could see it sitting in the restaurant. To start, the service was great. Our hostess and server were really helpful in helping us decide what to order of the many good sounding things. We ended up going with the crab claws, prime rib, green beans and chocolate cake. The best thing of all we're the crab claws, in yummy butter and garlic with wood fire grilled sourdough. Could have had another whole plate. While the prime rib and green beans were tasty, they came up to us at room temperature. Prime rib was a little over cooked for my personal taste. There were weren't many people there, so I can't imagine why this was. Chocolate cake was okay, didn't seem super fresh, but still good. Overall, nothin terrible that would make me not return, but would only return for those crab claws and maybe try another couple apps/sides. read more

A pretty ok experience. Servers were nice but not very good. The space is really cute and there's a parking garage behind the restaurant and the restaurant will validate for you. For some reason, everything we ate was very, very salty. I could not even eat my salad because it was so tangy. The oysters and crab claws were good but the smallest oysters and crab claws I've ever seen. The ribeye was good but not sure if it was worth the money--again very salty and not hot. Ordered a second round of drinks that never came but turns out the server just forgot to put it in--so we didn't have to pay for it. Before booking the resy, we were looking for their happy hour, but after a bit of searching, we didn't find it, bc well, No happy hour. We still booked it. Great service and welcome staff as soon as we arrive, till the end of our dinner. TLDR; Food is pretty good; cocktails are amazing and dessert is to die for. Cocktails are amazing. The peach pit a whiskey drink w peach bitters, kinda like an old fashioned; and the Santiago's lament, a nice rum drink with citrus flavors. Starters we had were "What The Fluke" which is a crudo prepared dish with nice, summer flavors. Comes with a peach sauce, blueberries and chamoy crisps, yum; and the tartare, which was a bit horseradish-forward, but not too spicy to enjoy, my wife didn't like it but I did. The egg yolk in the middle added a nice balance to the spiciness. I wish I had more bread w the tartare since the tartare serving is for more than 1 slice of sourdough cut in half. Entrees we chowed down were the black bass butterflied and grilled, oh so darn good; and the chicken fried steak which had an amazing cream gravy. Our sides were creamed corn with popcorn on top and crispy kernels, grilled green beans with a weird looking sauce but tasty AF, and the Mac n cheese, the cheese and the bacon bits on top were a perfect melody in my trap. We finished strong w the brûléed cheesecake, and the crumble on top and the crust were absolutely delicious.
