Despite visiting years ago, it took living here for a month for me to learn its name or explore inside. It wasn't until one of my new friends invited me along for a classical music performance that I became acquainted with it. I heard that it's a rarity to be able to attend a concert in the church, but I also heard the opposite, so I'm not actually sure. Either way, if you have the extra funds and want to experience some local, albeit touristy, culture, be sure to book through Via Musica. The ticket cost me around $38 (935 crowns...NOT cheap!!) but I think it was worth it for a one-time visit. I spent most of the 65-minute concert mesmerized by the church itself. Faces everywhere. Gold everywhere. Intricate designs. Unreal beauty. It was such an amazing experience! It was also cold. Keep in mind it's a very old church. Even though it's indoors, it's not like they have central heating so you'll still feel the elements. Dress appropriately! And be sure to arrive early for a good seat. If you're visiting Prague, don't miss a trip inside this church. Classical concert or not!

I originally thought you could just walk in and take pictures, but the security guard let me know tickets were required. They were only a few dollars and included a 30-minute guided tour. It looks like they also offer night tours, but I went on a Saturday at 5:00 PM, which worked out perfectly. The tour guide was super informative and walked us through the building while explaining how the paternoster elevator works. I was able to take lots of pictures and videos, which was great because it's such a unique experience. There's nothing like this in the States, so it was really cool to see something so different. Paternoster lifts have injured and killed people including children. It's an elevator operated by chains that don't stop moving. Only 5 countries have paternoster elevators. To hop on and off, you have to time it correctly and make sure you don't have something big/ bulky/ heavy with you that could get you stuck. If you miss your floor, you have to wait until it loops around again. Once you enter the city hall, there's a path on the left and the right. In the middle is a set of doors with stairs to take you to the next floor - don't go through here. You have to go around the back of the building to find the paternoster elevator. Keep in mind, people work here so, get out of the way and keep your voice down. It's not just some tourist attraction. Or else, they'll shut it down for tourists. Would you dare get on the elevator?

When I first arrived, I did not realize it was almost noon, so the crowd was HUGE and CRAZY, and I didn't understand why until I realized at at the top of every hour, the windows open and the puppets of the 12 Apostles pass through and people want to watch them. The crowd is definitely MUCH MORE manageable after that, and I came back several times for more attempts to take photos in front of the clock until I got some that I'm happy with! It's the symbol of Prague, smack dab in the touristy area, and easy to walk from to head off to many other tourist sites in the city!

It's wonderful to stand in the center of the old town and watch this mechanical clock. The first part of it was built in 1410.

It is arguably the busiest part of the actual town square due to the huge masses of tourists and some locals who are here to snap photos and take pictures of that impressive landmark. There are opportunities to go up the building and get some really gorgeous views of the town square and Prague itself. It's really hard not to appreciate the beautiful architecture and views in this area. Note - town square aside, which features a lot of local kiosks and food - a good deal of shops in this area are pure tourist traps and sell a lot of useless junk, unless you're a fan of cheap shitty t-shirts, bags and magnets. However, there are plenty of gems that you can find and this place isn't far in terms of walking distance from other historic and better shopping areas in the city.

The old architecture is amazing, every angle makes for an awesome photo opportunity. Wander the main streets, but venture into the tiny side streets where you'll still find locals and non touristy shops and eateries. It is very touristy overall, but you can find some locals patronizing some of the businesses and restaurants such as Stridacka and U zlateho Tygra, and taking in live shows at the various theaters.
