The girls are all so wonderful to our 90 year old mom who just loves having her nails done and a massage that is the best. They do a great job at the manicures and pedicures but it is more about the ladies that work there that make the place such a special place to visit. I came here once before, though it was very pricy I had a good experience. Went back yesterday and was not very happy. I asked for a regular pedicure and gel manicure. The pedicure was just ok (not worth $24). The person doing my finger nails didn't remove the old gel well at all. I asked a couple of times for a square shape in my nails and not only were they not straight or even but she rounded them as well. I finally asked the lady to stop and not polish my nails. The last really annoying thing, they don't take credit cards. I wasn't informed of this when I booked the appointment, they informed me of it when I was already seated with my feet in the water. Not only was I not satisfied with the work but I had to walk a block to pull money, be charged the ATM and bank fee. So if you decide to go there, be sure to bring cash. Every nail color imaginable on display organized, The employees are nice and welcoming very professional with well given advice. Tiniest nail shop tucked away and hidden behind a huge hair salon... It's a hole-in-a-wall and not your average princess nail salon in the OC, but that's why I love it. The prices are amazing for the work they do. LOVE that they offer shellac as opposed to just gel like most places to. Ladies if you haven't had shellac, it's a must. I just visited here for the first time. Its a small hole in the wall shop with 5 stations. They don't have the fancy pedi chairs, but use bucket type freshly lined basins. At first I thought it was pretty ghetto but ended up feeling just as relaxing and just as good of a pedicure as a fancier place. It seemed as though most of the clients were regulars and it was busy the whole hour I was there. The nail people were really friendly and it's not expensive at all! I had a pedi for 13$, mani/pedis are 20$. The lady gave me a close to 10 min foot massage included in the price. I'd go back for sure. Oh, they are cash or check only so be prepared! read more

This is by far the best nail salon I've found in Newport! They are super friendly and it's always filled with regulars. They are super cheap and their work is impeccable. Before coming here, I had never had a French manicure on my real nails, but this place does a great job that lasts a long time. Their pedicures and acrylics are great too. They are cash only, but there are plenty of atms near. I promise if you go here, you will not be disappointed. Park in back and make appointment if possible. Hidden little gem. You may have to read some yelp reviews like I did to find the place. The service was excellent and as far as I can tell the product was good too... A tad bit steep for a full set of just plain nail polish though. I paid $18 for regular polish, $25 after tip, for plain polish... It's been a while since I've done regular, but I thought it ranged $5-$10??? Maybe I should have asked more questions. If I go again I'll stick to gel of some sort. This place was really full of surprises, in a good way. My friend and I were having a Girls Day, and in the area looking for things to do. What better than to get our nails done, right? There is no way we would have found this place without yelp, but thank goodness we did, because it was great! I didn't expect to find a one "$" nail salon in this area at all, especially one with such high ratings as it had, and we were not disappointed by what we got. The place is very small, tucked away on a side street, but not too difficult to find. Our first thought as we walked by it the first time was, "Wow, why is that one customer receiving services from 4 people at one time? And can they really fit us inside this small room?" There was literally one person doing her toes, one person doing her hands, one massaging her legs, and one massaging her neck/back. It was a funny sight to behold, but they all seemed very friendly so we went inside. Turns out the customer is a regular and she was getting the full treatment--common among their regulars. Somehow two more stations appeared for us to have our pedi's done, which was done with the bucket lined with plastic---true asian style, but hey, it's clean and the water was warm! I do wish they had more of a selection of color, but since I'm very consistent with my Barbie pink toes, it wasn't difficult for me to choose. It's a family run business, so everyone chattered away, and no, there were very little Vietnamese secret conversations---I would know because they didn't ask me if I was Vietnamese until 10 minutes in and not a word of gossip. The reason why this place gets 5 stars? Great nails without sloppy top coat or color for $13, a foot massage, and foot scrub that had me leaving with the softest feet ever after a day of walking in flip flops for $3. My friend was even wearing TOMS and didn't know how to walk out without ruining her toes, but they gave her disposable flip flops to walk out with! Fantastic! Lastly, we came after 6PM so we parked by the street meter without having to pay, which was great. I will definitely come back here when I'm in the area! read more

I went a couple of weeks ago and got a mani/pedi, but someone else did my manicure...it was actually really bad :( I'm super bummed because I was hoping everyone at this place would be as good as Ellie. I'm not really interested in trying anyone else out so I will definitely be booking my next appointment with Ellie ONLY (for the manicure...pedicures have been done by different people and they've been great). I went to Magic Nails 6 days ago for a shellac gel manicure. I have been getting gel manicures for almost a year now and Ive tried Gelish and OPI but shellac is my absolute favorite. The color selection, shine, durability, and quality is amazing. I got my first shellac manicure in Hawaii the first day I arrived and for the next week I was at the beach, going kayaking, snorkeling, jet skiing....and you would think getting out and doing all kinds of activities would wreck havoc on my nails right!? Well to my surprise, I went home with a manicure that looked perfect and my nails still looked like I had just got them done. I kept the same manicure for about 3 weeks. I check yelp for a salon that has shellac in the Newport area and I come across Magic Nails with raving reviews...I call to make an appointment and they are able to take me that morning. I was impressed, since I read in the reviews that it was so small. I got my nails done by Holly, she was very sweet and helped me out with where to go for an ATM because I didn't know they were cash only. Just when I thought I had found my nail salon...5 days passed...and three nails already have chipped polish! I know it has to be the way she applied it because how can I go from being on vacation doing all kinds of physical activities to just being at home enjoying my summer, relaxing and get chipped polish already. Magic Nails is a no-frills nail salon. When you get your manicure, they put the bowl of water in your lap and there are no massage chairs. Its in the back of a hair salon! You would think this would make the place less amazing, but since the ladies at Magic Nails are so great it really doesnt matter what the environment is. Beware. They have STUDENTS in there doing clients nails because the owner and her sister are too busy to take walk-ins. They don't tell u the girls are students and they don't know what they are doing at all!!! I had a nightmare experience! I only went because they had good reviews and I live in the area. I went in and they told me to sit down and two women came over, one for my mani and one for my pedicure. The woman doing my mani was an older woman name Mary who had no experience at all it was horrible !!! I showed them a pic from there own IG Page and Mary had no clue what to do!!! Instead of them telling me she is not experienced they encourage her to try the design which she failed miserably!! The owner finally came over for a brief second to see the mess and everyone agreed it was awful and I had to start over . I then asked for just simple rhinestones on the nail since she couldn't do the design I really wanted! Mary couldn't even put the darn rhinestones on that is how inexperienced she is. The owner did come over and put he rhinestones on for her but she rushed because she left her client waiting to assist Mary. The rhinestones are not even !! Mary did such an awful job but I didn't want to embarrass her or make a scene so I hugged her and thanked her. The student who did my pedicure was fine. I asked for eyebrows wax and some other student did my brows which is also awful!! You should NOT be allowing students to work on real people that is just crazy rude and ridiculous! Then they charged me 88.00 for a darn mani pedi and eyebrow arch! They insisted it was 88 and I kept asking to break down all the services and of course the price was wrong and I had to show them on paper w a pencil and add it up for them to show them simple math !! Then they agreed and apologized!!! I went home and called the owner out of respect for Mary I didn't want to hurt her feelings she is an older woman! I told the owner on the phone was horrible my nails are and she told me to come back'!! I went back and that is when I learned that the girls in there are STUDENTS! The owner tells me she is too busy to take walk-ins!!! So why not hire real nail techs instead of being cheap and disgusting by hiring students and pay them pennies and they don't know what they are Doing!!! The owner painted over my nails in hopes of fixing the mess Mary made! I still gave a tip although I have never had this poor of a experience ever!!! Needless to say, I will not be back!! The owner is 2 sisters and should be ashamed !!! read more
