I can't believe I get to be the first to review. We have such a special story about GBG. My…read morehusband (boyfriend at the time) took a winter trip up to Blowing Rock years ago. We happened across this quaint wonderful little store as we were exiting the candle shop. He said, let's go in and look around. Inside we were greeted by the most wonderful father and daughter team. We were lucky enough that one of their gems dealers was in town for that weekend only. I was able to find a beautiful, vintage sapphire stone in an heirloom piece of jewelry. Long story short, I fell so much in love with it that my husband bought and it and it became the center of my engagement ring. I get more compliments than you can imagine on the work and setting they created for me. Truly one of a kind. Keep in mind this is everything that a jeweler should be. Many of them are handmade pieces, crafted with the most loving of care. This is not a chain; this is a family owned business. You will not find a better jeweler anywhere. They are the epitome of the jewelry craft in my opinion. We will be visiting Blowing Rock this fall sometime to see the changing of the colors and I will be sure to stop in again. Please take time to visit this wonderful shop, especially if you are saving up for a truly beautiful piece.

Also, if you decide to have a cup of their coffee, ask to taste the coffee before you buy a cup. My cup of coffee was sour. When I asked for a replacement cup of coffee, the clerk wanted to charge me for another cup. When I explained the cup she gave me was sour, her response was, "nobody else complained about the coffee." Apparently, customer satisfaction is not a priority and customer service is a tertiary concern at best. I contacted the owner about my concerns without resolution. I was left feeling baited, switched and the experience definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Needless to say, this business has lost at least one customer - not that the owner actually cares though, since she did little to turn this unsatisfied customer around. Instead, she dug the hole deeper and deeper. Beware shoppers and coffee aficionados.

I drooled at the stunning array of rings, pendants and bracelets! I had been told earlier that day by my hubby that if I wanted a piece of jewelry for my Birthday/ Christmas present, I could choose whatever I wanted! So hard to choose, but got it narrowed down to a vintage Baume & Mercier solid gold hidden watch bracelet or a diamond necklace. I went with the bracelet, (but will probably get the necklace too). Don't hesitate to visit this gem of a store! They have so many styles and pieces that you are sure to find something perfect. The prices were unbelievable, I was expecting to pay 3 times what I did! The quality and workmanship is amazing, unlike major jewelry stores now. With gold prices these days, those stores are making their jewelry as thin and cheap as possible. Always buy quality vintage jewelry!

They even had a grandfather clock that was 250 years old! The owners are so welcoming and knowledgeable.
