After searching in bridal stores and online for the perfect wedding dress, I had almost given up. I was getting married abroad and wanted something to not only suit the climate and the setting, but something that also suited me and my personality. I had heard great things about Maggie through friends and decided to give her a call. We chatted on the phone for a while about the kind of dress I might like as well as my budget and we agreed to have a meeting where I would bring along some more ideas of what I might like, including any pictures or drawings. Our first meeting not only enabled us to both get to know each other but also allowed me to talk about the kind of dress I wanted. I took along some pictures of dresses I liked or that had the look I was going for, as well as a picture I had drawn of what I might want. Maggie showed me materials, suggesting what might suit. She was very patient and listened intently to what I wanted (something that I had failed to find in any bridal stores, where I felt like just another bride!). Whilst we set down some drawings, my ideas changed a little over time as I lost some weight and this was not a problem at all. I visited Maggie throughout the creation of my dress and enjoyed being a part of it all. Each and every time I went I felt completely at ease. It was as if I had known Maggie all my life. The end product was superb. I truly love my dress and whilst I suppose I am biased it is the nicest wedding dress I have ever seen. I tried a lot on and was never the type of girl that was searching for the one or thought I'd be emotional, but this dress was most definitely the one! It was perfect for me. The quality of not only the materials, but how it was all put together was fantastic. Not a fault to be found in any of it. As my dress had a cross over back, Maggie suggested making the straps detachable to enable me to step in to my dress thus saving my hair and makeup on the day. It was these suggestions and this attention to detail that made this experience stand out from the others I'd had in bridal stores. I can honestly say that working with Maggie to design and make my dress was an absolute pleasure. It was a wonderful experience and I felt at complete ease right from the start. Whilst Maggie listened carefully and attentively to what I wanted, she also made suggestions based on her years of experience. If you are searching for a dress, think about the things you like about those you have seen or tried on, and think whether or not you might like a unique dress that you can forever say you had a hand in designing. I am an Australian living in the London, UK. A year ago I went in the hunt for my perfect wedding dress. I finally found an image I liked but couldn't find the dress anywhere. I finally thought I will get it made instead so I went in search for a dress maker. I tried a few London dress makers & designers but none made me happy. I then thought I'd try outside London & I had friends up in Stirling, Scotland, so why not try there. I had an appointment with Maggie McAllister & good timing my mother was over from Aus so we both went. Otherwise i was doing this by myself. As soon as we met Maggie my mum & I knew straight away Maggie was perfect for the task. So I gave her the dress image of what I wanted & then the process began. Maggie from start to finish was amazing. She listened to all I said & took it all in as well as giving me suggestions & more ideas. She had a way of interpreting & understanding everything I wanted from what i explained to her. Through her experience, her professionalism, & remarkable ability she was able to produce the exact dress I wanted. The dress was exactly the same as the image I gave her. She made the dress perfectly to fit my shape & sit well. It was perfect & I got so many comments not just on the look but also on the quality of the dress itself. Many of my friends are holding onto her number for when they require a bespoke dress, especially their wedding dress. I knew Maggie through work connections and had been searching with no luck for a good value vintage style wedding dress. I had been to visit a couple of bridal shops and hadn't found anything I loved at a price I could afford. I contacted Maggie on the off-chance she might be able to help and luckily she could. I sent her some pictures of the types of dress I liked and had an initial consultation in which she sketched out a dress she thought would be suitable. It was a bit nerve wracking going down this route as obviously you don't know 100% what the dress will look like until completion. Luckily Maggie made me feel so relaxed and was more than happy for me to contact her to ask for updates etc. After the 2nd fitting I wasn't 100% sure about the style of the skirt and Maggie was just great. She was easily able to make the amendments I wanted and was not at all put out by the slight change. The final result was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for anything better. Maggie knew exactly what I wanted and delivered in every way. The style, fit and material were all perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maggie to anyone looking for a bridal or designer dress. She has a knack of knowing exactly what your style is and producing amazing results. She is also very upfront about prices and I knew exactly what I could afford right from the start. Maggie is awesome. She made my wedding dress for our wedding (only 4 weeks ago) and I have had so many compliments on my dress. More importantly, I felt like a fairy princess in my dress. i found Maggie online and phoned her up nervously as I had only tried on two wedding dresses and I had no idea how this dressmaker stuff worked nor had i got any concrete idea on wedding dress designs. i felt clueless. immediately Maggie made me feel at ease and said that we should meet to discuss options and talk designs. I loved her from the moment I met her i especially love her relaxed and confident way of being. Clearly she knows what she is talking about and has made a few dresses in her time!! After comparing notes Maggie confidently drew up a design and I left feeling excited and sure that I wanted Maggie to make my dress. Over time my dress evolved which is what I loved about the process nothing seemed to phase Maggie. It didn't matter if at one fitting I couldn't decide whether I would have silk or satin or whether i would have sleeves or no sleeves Maggie just said take time think about it and let's see how we go at the next fitting. She is brilliant and she delivers at every level. i had the best wedding ever and it's thanks to Maggie that I felt a million dollars in my dress. My unique dress made just for me. Our friends, who had a civil partnership ceremony, recommended Maggie to us to design dresses for ours. I'm glad our friends didn't keep her to themselves as Maggie came up trumps with dresses for our special day, very flattering, with many compliments made by our guests about them. Maggie designed fantastic dresses and made the design process stress-free, coming up with exactly what we asked for and making excellent suggestions to improve on our basic design, both sharpening up but entirely realising our original vision. She has a brilliant way of both teasing out what you want from a dress but also on making it even better, by recommending (without any pressure) certain design features that we hadn't considered. This means that not only is she an expert at the technical side of dress-making, she is superb at the communication side of things, which can only improve the overall design and consultation experience. We had never commissioned a bespoke dress before so I can assure the novice dress buyer that Maggie will put you at your ease and deliver a dress that will exceed your expectations. I had looked around a number of shops in Glasgow for a dream dress- I didn't find anything loved plus they added cost of alterations and pushy sales staff trying to sell tiaras/ veils etc was off putting. I contacted Maggie and it was the best thing I ever did. From the first appointment Maggie listened to my ideas and exactly what I wanted. Initially I wanted a long sleeve on the dress, when I tried it on I wasn't keen and asked to make it short- things like this are no issue for maggie. Each dress is made to order- if you don't want something she can take it away or add something on. At all times I found maggie professional and truly passionate about my dress. Maggie is an amazing dressmaker. Maggie has made several dresses for me for beauty pageants. Each dress she has made for me is completely unique and WOW!! Maggie is such a warm and friendly person and ready to spend the time with you deciding on fabrics, embellishements etc so that you really do get your dream dress. Maggie knows how to make that ideal dress a reality for you and how to tailor it so that it works for the client's individual body shape. Maggie is an amazing dressmaker.I first used her for a cocktail dress for my 21st birthday that was 11 years ago and still making me them to date. I think they just keep getting better..... I just recently got a lovely red dress for a wedding everyone complimanted it, the detail on the back was outstanding. Bridesmaid dresses one of the most difficult tasks i have had but Maggie made it easy. Colour to suit them all and style i was so unsure as they were all dfiferent shapes and sizes. They were perfect made from a perfectionist...... I recommend Maggie to all my friends and family only problem is if were all going to same event i have to get in first. Ha ha read more

One word for maggie and her dresses ...AMAZING !!! Don't waste your time doing the bridal shop circuits - you will never get the attention to detail , unique designs or the amazing 1 to 1 service. With maggie you are not just a number or a pound sign she cares about every little detail and only that you are happy. Nothing is too much trouble .. I should know... I definitely pushed her to the limit with ever changing ideas - but what I love about maggie is she just gets it and runs with it - this is exactly the person you want involved in one of the biggest days of your life.
