This place reminds me of what hobby and craft stores used to look like back in the states, before it all became about low cost and cheap quality. In almost every section, you can find top shelf brands and high quality supplies here, with everything from sewing to scrap booking to stationary and writing implements. The latter is what brought me in on this most recent occasion (late July, 2019) and I was not disappointed. Among the many offerings, what stuck out the most was a wide selection of Faber Castell. For the uninitiated, they're a German brand that has historically put out some very nice pens, pencils, erasers and even leads. In my case, I was looking to shore up my selection of mechanical pencils, and was thrilled to find that they stocked the GRIP 1345 pencils, in both .7mm and .5mm. These are the sought after "GRIP" models, as opposed to the newer version, colloquially referred to as "GRIP II", which I'm not overly fond of. In addition to great looks, retractable tip, excellent balance and considerable heft, the GRIP 1345 is a Japanese-made import (probably made by Penac), so quality is top tier. You can safely wager that you would not find anything this nice in a hobby supply store in the states (only China-made garbage like most of the current Alvin Draftmatic pencils), so it's always great to be able to pick up the good, hard to obtain stuff while I'm traveling in Denmark. If you're meandering about Gågade and have any kind of hobby, craft, stationary or writing implement needs, definitely check this place out. My only regret is that we'll never have these in the states!

Staying in Kerteminde on holiday from Copenhagen. Hunting for sea trout and needing more fishing…read moregear, we stumbled upon Tropica in little Mesinge on the way to Fyn Hoved. Excellent selection of affordable lures, poles and equipment. Suzanne the owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with fishing sites, tides and recommended equipment. We left with a good variety of gear and some fun crabbing rigs for the little kids. Apparel available also.

They carry a very wide selection, and are basically an all around plant, pet supply and garden center rolled into one. Inside, you'll find a huge selection of accessories for pets, everything from birds and small mammals (rabbits, chickens, hamsters, etc.) to dogs, cats and even fish. Also inside is a wide selection of indoor planters from top brands like Scheurich, along with some interior decor and even patio furniture (upstairs). If you venture into their outdoor/garden section, you'll be greeted with an enormous selection of plants, ranging from indoor to outdoor and including everything from succulents to carnivorous plants. What's more, they have a very good selection of top quality garden tools, including Wolf-Garten, a German brand and my personal favorite. I didn't have much room in my suitcase, but I still snagged a few choice items here, including their professional anvil-style pruners and their small hand rake (both of which I had been unable to locate state side). I could have bought a lot more, had I room and weight in the suitcase, but that will have to wait for next time. If you're in the neighborhood or shopping at the adjacent Bauhaus home improvement store, you really have to drop in and check this place out. The gardening tool and plant selection is worlds apart and they carry far more Wolf-Garten here than in Bauhaus. Everything was well stocked, all the plants looked fantastic and the entire place was about as close to garden center nirvana as it gets. I wish I had found this place sooner and can't wait to go back on my next trip to Denmark and throw more of my money at them.

I went to Dr. Adams, and the very competent and friendly woman quickly showed me the various options. All the way through, she assisted me in any aspect of the purchase, and helped with my questions, "concerns" and considerations.. The store itself has a lot of high-end brands, and the suit from Filipa K was also not cheap (3900,- DKK) but it's super high quality, absolutely great, and with a service like this, I'm happy to pay a little more.. The suit fits perfect, and I'm sure I'll come back to Dr. Adams next time I'm around!

This is actually a very interesting place, part bookstore, part office supply store (the literal…read moretranslation of kontorforsyning, after all), but also has a lot of art/craft and stationary supplies too. It's long been a staple in Nyborg, and I've been stopping in off and on over the last decade, sometimes looking for a book, sometimes pens/pencils and other times just for little things like greeting cards or the like. I've very rarely left empty handed, and prices are often fairly competitive. It's also located in a nice part of town and has a neat entryway, tucked under an alcove and out of the weather. The only reason I hesitate to give five stars is that, despite looking perfectly legit and not at all like wandering vagrants (or hipsters, the distinction is minimal, after all), my wife and I always seem to get the stink eye in this place. I don't know if the person doing it is the owner or what, but they literally just stare at us the entire time we shop in there. No asking if we need help or anything, or have questions, just gawking at us in the most overt way possible until we make a purchase. On my last trip, I'd have loved to keep looking at a few mechanical pencils and pens up near the register, but being within an arms length of the cashier, who continued to stare at me even though I already had some items in hand, I opted to just buy what I came for, which was a beautiful Penac NP-Trifit .5mm (try finding those in the states!) and a Uni Millino .5mm that I spotted (long since discontinued and largely unavailable) and be done with it. I dunno, maybe it was the fact that we were speaking English to each other and not Danish, but it isn't as if we were speaking some Eastern European dialect and constantly looking over our shoulder for a chance to steal something. What's more, we were mainly looking at mechanical pencils, most of which (with the exception of the Penac) were a whopping 39 DKK at most. For the uninitiated, that works out to barely more than $6 USD. Bottom line, I still highly recommend this place, and I'm sure I'll go back next time to see what other uncommon pens and pencils they've gotten. If I don't get the stink eye next time, I'll happily update this to a 5-star review, which it otherwise deserves to have.
