So, I didn't buy my car here nor have I done any maintenance here either. But we were driving to SoCal for a wedding in 2 days and a maintenance light lit up on my 2016 Avalon and we wanted it checked out. We live over an hour away but they were the dealership who could see us in time. Anyway, my wife made an appointment for me here midweek. I was runnning late for the appointment but called in advance they said no problem, come in regardless. I got there 20 minutes late, pulled into the service area, and a a young man came right up. I said I had an appt, what it was for, gave him all the info, and he said he'd be right back after confirming. He came back and said sorry, they couldn't help me. I reiterated the appt made, the reason for it, that no issue arose when she made it, how far I'd driven, and he double checked with the manager again, and still said no go. I stated my case one last time and he said without access to any records, no go. When asked why they didn't say anything when making the appt a.d/or prior, he shrugged his shoulders. I said with everything electronic there was no access, he said yup. I said Toyota doesn't have a reciprocal agreement between dealers, he shrugged his shoulders again. So I left, called another dealer from the car, they said it prolly wasn't re-set properly when the last service was done, drove another hour, and found someone to look at it, and then reset it. In this day and age with even medical records electronic this seems insane. But without lifting a single finger to help, I was summarily dismissed. No help. No effort. Picked up my FJ and everything seemed ok. I did notice that the milage on my odometer was the same as it was when I parked it. Meaning the technician didn't road test it. 5 miles up the road my dash board lights up like a Christmas tree. - 2 stars. I drove it back to Madera Toyota and they took it in the back right away. Some time later the 'Supe of the Day' came out and told me they'll get on it as soon as they can. Not a real happy camper right now. Update... I was unable to make my appt. Update 5 years later: The camry i bought is running great but i get all my service done from Toyota Clovis because literally the one time i got an oil change from madera toyota; they didn't tighten the drain nut & i leaked engine oil all the way back to fresno and a puddle on my driveway. Also I'm still salty about the fact that they sold me a car without a Jack(A NECESSARY SAFETY DEVICE). Then they told me i can buy one from them for $200 & the best they could do is $140 with "employee discount".... i went to Ebay & got the EXACT same jack for $45 shipped. I worked with Eric, a sales professional. He was professional and courteous when he showed me the car and let me test drive it. At that time, I did not purchase the car as I was waiting for my son-in-law and daughter to go with me and negotiate. However, I went back to purchase the car on Saturday. It was a horrible experience. We dealt with the sales manager, and he was rude and unprofessional. He told me son-in-law that he was asking him to do something illegal when he was merely trying to negotiate the price. The sales manager also told my son-in-law he was lying about his stated profession. Lastly, prior to all of this a sales associate did walk into the sales manager office and closed the door. The wait is never long and they use floor, seat and steering wheel covers. Was looking at a number of cars at different dealerships throughout the valley. Ramzy Saleh was my salesman and Because of the his approach and the fact that he was respectful even though he had spent a couple of hours with me and I walked out without buying that evening, that was the reason I went back and bought the following day. There were a couple of minor issues with the vehicle, it was a pre-owned, that are not quite right, but he addressed them and have promised to make them right. I had a terrible experience with the service department at another valley Toyota dealership when I purchased a brand new sienna a number of years ago and a high dollar item broke within 2000 miles of the new warranty expiring even after there were service bulletins regarding the issue. Let's face it how many people enjoy buying a car? I remember back in the day when you would get swarmed by car salespersons trying to wheel and deal with you before you even got to the vehicle you laid your eyes on. That was too much pressure back then. Fast forward to present - those days are gone. Well at least for me. Me and my husband had been taking our time to find a car that fit our lifestyle and most importantly our budget. We did our homework on what We wanted and narrowed it down to two choices either a Ford or Toyota. I'm going to be honest, We were working with another dealership in Fresno before we decided to come to Madera for a new car purchase. We felt that a bigger dealership would offer more with regard to selection and financing options as well as dealing with a friend of mine who worked at that dealership who we previously purchased a truck from there. When we got back into Madera on Sunday Evening, we went by MAC to see the selection of vehicles - the fleet was not so overwhelming that it made selecting a car a little more easier. We were approached by our car sales person Mike Delgado who greeted us cordially and showed us the vehicle we were interested in. I felt no pressure to rush into a deal with him as he gave us a basic overview of the vehicle and took is for a test drive. At the conclusion of our meeting, me and my husband decided to give MAC an opportunity to see what they could offer us. To be honest there was not really a lot of haggling with regard to what "we" could afford and we made that perfectly clear from the beginning of our transaction. It was getting late so we gave the dealership an opportunity to obtain financing that would meet our specifications. The following day, Mr. Delgado contacted us and informed us he obtained the financing we needed as well as a car payment that fit our specifications. We decided to purchase the car from MAC. The greatest thing about the whole transaction is that it took less than five hours to "seal the deal." I would also like commend Mr. Veng who worked our loan to ensure that we got a suitable interest with a "local" credit union. As a matter of fact during our meeting with him we had to do a last minute loan modification and he worked a new loan in less than 15 minutes. We were out the door by 5 pm, with a nice new clean car, a tank full of gas and a good experience. I'm sure my husband was even more happier so I wouldn't have to be driving his truck anymore! Tried to buy a Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA) from this dealer this afternoon for my 4 day old 2015 Toyota Highlander. They advertise on their website that they sell this. I am out of their local market but still within the same state which is within Toyota rules about VSA sales. I was given a quote which I felt was at a reasonable price, so I decided to buy. I was referred to a finance person and was told by him that I would have to bring my vehicle in to their service department for an "Inspection". This is not required to purchase a VSA by Toyota and is their own silly little policy. They have a right to create any policies they want. However, they should tell people this upfront and put it on their website and mention it in the first correspondence. The person I spoke to told me that I wasn't the first customer to complain about this issue. Two stars because they emailed me back very quickly which I appreciated.
