Quite small restaurant in a revamped Fraser neighbourhood. Despite lack of free parking nearby, the food is worth it. The beef pho had variety and balanced broth. The thickness of the raw beef was just right, compact, fulfilling, yet not tough. When there is octopus on the menu. You have to give it a try. This fragrant and spicy chargrilled octopus appetizer is packed full of umami and tender pieces of seafood protein, a perfect starter. I particularly enjoyed their version of the pan crispy duck confit with vermacelli. The seasoning is just perfect, but the choice of the noodles, a wide and flat version was genius. The don't go soggy that fast and give an even better balance and more wholesome mouthfeel. Rich flavour offset by a classic Vietnamese sauce, can't ask for more. read more

Went on an evening night and it was easy to get a table. The vibe was casual and cozy. It is a smaller place so definitely see if you can boon a table if you're going with a large group. I loved the octopus as a starter. The price g was reasonable for what we got as well. Next time I would try the prawn appetizer as the neighbouring table's looked delicious. For the main I got the pork jowl. The portion size was good and I was definitely very full after this meal. I will definitely go back to try more items. read more

The food is excellent. It's a refined sort of spin on Vietnamese food that makes the tastes not only authentic but modern. For example, any substitutions owing to what's available in Vancouver, are thoughtfully done. The service is also very good. They obviously take great pride in what they're serving and how they're serving it. read more

Went here for a large family dinner. Upon arriving, I recognize this as the former space of Say Mercy, so the space looked familiar, but the spend time updating the walls, tables, chairs and decorations. Still a simple, clean and bright space. I tried the following: - Vietnamese Spring Roll - Good. The taro gives it a bit of heaviness that I wouldn't normally associate with spring rolls, but still tasted good. - Pork Liver Pate - OK. A decent serving size, but could still use more bread. Pate was fine, but not particularly memorable. - Tender Charred Octopus - OK. Nice flavours, but felt it was a bit overcooked (rubbery) - Carrots a la Marble - Good. A new way of serving carrots, and I enjoyed it. Wish I had more. - Caramel Garlic Wings - Very good. Meaty and tons of flavour. Best starter of the night. - Pho Bo - Good. Decent size. Pretty standard preparation. - Squid Ink Fried Rice - Very good. Great flavours, and extra effort to make rice crispy is what makes this dish the best of the night. Service was nice enough. This kitchen has a hard time serving our group of 9, as food was delivered in batches, and some people were finishing up while others were still waiting for their food to be delivered. Overall, it was good. A mix of classic and modern Vietnamese dishes. Service is better suited for small groups and prices can be a bit high, but not too bad. I'd consider coming back. read more

Modern contemporary Vietnamese cuisine in a central location. This spot is great if you are feeling adventurous and looking to venture outside the comforts of your typical pho dac biet or bun bo hue. Mussels (4/5) Taste: This was a special, seasonal dish - mussels were fresh and the selling point of this dish was the tangy, sour green sauce that the mussels were served with. Otherwise, mussels were a little on the salty side. Portion Size: Sharing for 2-3 people. Pho Bo (3.5/5) Taste: Classic pho, nothing too special, broth was on the lighter side. Portion Size: Large portion for 1 person. Crispy Duck Noodles (3.5/5) Taste: Duck was nice and crispy, but a little on the dry side. It felt a little bland to pair with the rice noodles. Portion Size: Large portion for 1 person or sharing for 2 people. Value for Money: I've been here before and found some dishes are hit and miss, you'll have to work your way through the menu to pick your favourites! While on the pricier side for Vietnamese cuisine, I like the variety and creativity of the dishes along with the large portion sizes and comfortable seating. read more

I was very curious about this place after seeing lots of IG posts. Place is quite small but interior is beautifully designed. It opened in mid-October 2024. Bonnie & Nguyen are great hosts. We arrived early and Bonnie chatted with us. We ordered the following: Tender Charred Octopus Caramel Garlic Wings (6pcs) Special of the Day: Steamed Clams served with a Lemongrass Sauce Crispy Duck Noodles Squid Ink Fried Rice Grilled Chicken on Rice Grilled Pork Jowl on Rice Madame's Pandan Temptation: dessert Overall, I would say food here is generally good while some dishes needed a notch higher. For example, the sauce of the Crispy Duck Noodles is a bit weak and could be a little saltier because rice noodles are bland. Squid Ink Fried Rice could use some more squid ink flavour to it. I really love the Steamed Clams with its sauce. It lends a good flavour to steamed seafood. The Charred Octopus goes perfectly well with the chili sauce. I think it's a good rendition of Vietnamese food, much similar to home cooked meals by the grandmother herself, Madame Danh. read more

Newly opened in October 2024. Heard rave reviews and decided to check it out with a friend. Place is nicely decorated with a clean and modern look. Staff were friendly and introduced their signature dishes. Got their Crispy Chicken Leg on Rice. Chicken was deep fried nicely to a crisp and very juicy, although the portions were quite small in my opinion. Plenty of free parking on Fraser Street, East 26th Avenue, and East 27th Avenue. read more

Looks like the Golden Joy (Filipino restaurant) died and is now this upscale Vietnamese place. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is pretty modern and quaint. Nice tropical theme. Staff are friendly and chatty. No complaints. Pho is a bit pricier than the competition but the product is also higher end. I had the beef steak pho with beef short rib. Not cheap. The steak was super delicious though. Basically it's literally a steak that one can find from a steakhouse. The beef rib wasn't worth the extra price, as it was mostly bone. The broth is light and has a bit of kick from black pepper. This place doesn't have any sort of in house hot sauce. However, they do have in house chili paste upon request. Wouldn't mind coming back, as the rest of the food looks pretty delicious. read more

Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant looked very neat and modern. The waitress was also very pleasant to talk to. I ordered the pho bo and the bowl came out steaming hot with loads of meat, sprouts, and onions. I'm used to having the toppings given on a separate plate, but since this place seemed fancier, everything was served together so I didn't have to do any work. The first thing I noticed was how clean and light the broth was! It was very delicious and I think it's because they don't use as much MSG (if any) as other pho places I've been to. The portion was also quite big so I was very full by the end of the meal. While this is definitely one of the higher quality phos I've had, I like to have tendon and tripe in my pho, which this place didn't have. The pho was also on the pricier side (being $21). I think I'd come back here again since the quality is so good, but I wouldn't be able to come here too often. read more

The decor is super modern clean and beautiful colours. The food was soo good and relatively good priced with good portions. The service was really good and provided good recommendations. I am a Vietnamese foodie, saw their post on IG and had to come try for myself. The Octopus was very good, I didn't think there was enough sauce. Their garlic wings were decent, pretty average nothing exciting. Their drink was alright. The Bun Bo Hue I appreciate that it was oxtail. The bowl was $26. Had decent meat, the noodles were okay. The veggies were not enough. The chilli oil was not spicy or aromatic and the soup felt like it was not clean, not aromatic, kinda smelled like the soup was not made properly with all the aromatics. Service is okay, they were attentive Ambiance was not bad, very contemporary. I don't know if I would come back. read more

Came here after a round of golf with our group. Don't let the unassuming exterior deter you from checking this place out. A hidden gem! FYI, they don't have their liquor licence yet, so don't expect alcohol. Ordered the following: Appetizers: mussels: were fabulous we ordered a 2nd round at the end of dinner. The sauce that comes with it is fantastic. Good sized portion for our foursome caramel garlic wings: super crispy, good sized, very flavourful tender charred octopus: perfectly done, not rubbery, had a nice kick to it...again delicious sauce Mains: we shared family style squid ink fried rice: nice and tasty, crispy, not what I expected but super good crispy duck noodles: duck thigh and drumstick on a bed of flat rice noodles...with great sauce chicken vermicelli bowl: refreshing, good sized portion of chicken; sauce tasty pho bo with bone marrow: good size portion and tasty!! Very reasonably priced with good portion sizes. Super friendly and accommodating couple running this place. Will definitely go back.....soon!! read more

Underwhelming. With the plethora of Vietnamese restaurants within the vicinity, we asked ourselves after our first time here "was it worth it?". It's a no for us. Small menu and small portions for a premium over what others charge. The broth on the steak pho was weak, and for $26, i'd rather have pho for much less elsewhere. Wonderful small place, beautifully presented, seasoned, and served food and drink, they call it "Vietnamese Modern." And it is - we had the crispy duck confit over rice sheet noodles, a lovely chilli/lime dipping sauce, julienned cucumber and carrot, Thai basil. Texturally gorgeous, lovely well-balanced flavours. The chicken and rice dish also gorgeous. Pork liver paté delicate and pleasing. Other tables had chicken wings, looked great, and bone marrow on baguette tests, I was salivating, the ones who were eating it stopped talking and dug right in with very happy looks and sounds. Service was terrific, really attentive and friendly, obviously a place where they care about the food and the people. read more
