Let me start out saying that I think everyone is gifted in someway. I also think there are several scammers out there, just like any gifted talent some have it naturally and are very gifted, others have to work at it and some fake it and still financial benefit. I personally believe the ability to feel and read people is a God given gift, something like musical ability or artistic talent. With that said, madam Ruth said things that were very specific: Example, that there are 3 children in my life. That l would have 3 and no more. I have 3 kids, there were several other things that she couldn't have know. The entire time I was there I said less than 10 words to her and never said anything that exposed anything personal. If I could do less than one star I would. It's 10:15 A.M. Me, calling as a new client and a first time inquiry about the field in an entirety...the initial and professional response should have been a "hello", was so rude and abrasive and unwelcoming that I had to hang up. They did, however call me back, and said "they couldn't hear me" I'm sure they didn't because I was in such shock as to how I was initially greeted. I don't feel this women is authentic in any way. $50 dollars and then sales tax for 20 minutes. Once she found out where I worked she spend 10 minutes talking about the governor and other state officials about the trash around her property. i walked in and she asked me to take off my mask and right off the bat said i had a bad aura and for $500 (guaranteed) she could clear that up. i had just finished a call with my son. when i walked in and she said (none of which is true) that my son is doing drugs - like what!? she spend 8 minutes on my son. Let me begin by saying that I'm down with tarot card readers, astrologers, and all manner of spiritually-inclined information-givers. So my dissatisfaction has less to do with the information and more to do with the delivery. That is to say that everything she said to me could be entirely correct, but I'm disinclined to believe it or to care because of the speed at which the information was delivered. I arrived at the appointed time, rang the doorbell and entered the small converted hallway or room. I paid my money, received my "reading" and was out the door about 8 (!) minutes later. At $40 that equals about $5 per minute. I've wasted money before, but *never* have I done it so quickly and with so little satisfaction. For $40, Madam Ruth gave me a quick card reading spoken in a monotone that was sometimes hard to understand. She gave me a lot of typical psychic lines like "You have a secret admirer" and "You will come into a great fortune." Yeah okay sure whatever. She said all of those things quickly, muttered them actually, looking at the cards and not at me. But then she stopped and looked me in the eye. "Things were going okay, going good, but then recently something very bad happened. Very sudden." Yep. "Now your family is having a lot of trouble." Yes, true. "You have two enemies. I see one man, one woman." Uh, unfortunately, yes... "You have a black cloud hanging over you. You've been having some bad luck." Sigh. She got that right. Then, and this part kind of cracks me up -- she stopped the reading abruptly and told me to go to the Dollar Store. She told me to buy 3 Virgin Mary candles and 3 Virgen de Guadalupe ones, and bring them back to her. I did so, bemusedly. When I returned with the candles she handed me a piece of paper, folded up, and muttered, "I wrote something on this for you, but I folded it up so don't worry about it." Ohhkay. She read my palm, knew a couple things about me she had no way of knowing, then told me to take one of the candles and light it for 30 minutes every evening and morning. I have to give another review for Madam Ruth. When I initially met her, she told me about my family - all things of which were true. She also told me that I had an admirer who thought he didn't exist, and that he was tall, light brown haired, and likes to dance. A couple of months later I did meet him, and he said the exact words Madam Ruth did - he thought I didn't know he existed. Some things just happen that way. Take people with you and spend more money to see how many they get AND how many times she repeats what she just told the other person. Tarot card and palm readers have always fascinated me. I've wanted to learn what they do, how they use symbols to guide them in their psychic abilities, but I'd never been to an actual, professional, experienced palm reader, psychic or tarot card reader before. Well last Friday, a couple of friends picked me up (after I'd had a couple of beers) to go and seek out some adventure, do something we'd never done before, blah blah. If it weren't for the beers, I might have protested when we passed this home on I-35 before St. Johns, but inhibitions down, I was nothing if not a font of encouragement when our driver said, "Hey! Let's go get our cards read!" I've probably passed this place 342,549 times and only thought, "Hmmm... I wonder what goes on inside?" without really consciously realizing I can just walk up to the place at any time and find out for myself. There is a procedure to the reading, you walk up, ring on the doorbell, and wait while the lady inside, Madam Ruth, comes to the door and allows you entrance if she's not busy, or asks you to wait if she is. There's a big sign by the doorbell in case you forget and try to walk in without ringing. When we pulled up, a young man was in the middle of his reading. When he came out, he looked shaken, almost frightened, and said, "Curiosity kills, doesn't it?". That was our first clue that Madam Ruth has a powerful ability. Inside the home was a smallish room with religious icons placed throughout. A large statue of La Virgen de Guadalupe and paintings and pictures of Jesus and Mary hung on the walls and veladoras stood by on a table for prayer. I don't know how much people usually pay, or if there is a pricing scale for time and depth, but my friend paid Madam Ruth $40 to read his tarot cards and the reading, in my humble opinion, was excellent. I don't want to violate his privacy, but everything she said about his past and present was spot on. She said some things about his near future that were so close to true, and so keeping with my friend's personality that I couldn't help but believe they would happen. She told him he has been planning a vacation for a long time about which he had some reservations, but he should take it, it would do him very well. She saw blue, and as soon as she said it I envisioned an ocean. This is a guy that has been planning for years to sail around the world someday. Her telling of his past, of his pains and triumphs and loves was also spot on. There was no way I could believe that what she said about his future couldn't be true too. In fact, his reading was so good, it made me realize that I really don't want to know. I want to just live my life and hope for the best. I don't want to know if my life will be short or tediously long. I don't know if every reading will make you feel like you've pretty much seen the future, but I know that the entire reading didn't take long and was very entertaining, like she was telling us his life's story. Madam Ruth told us she has been reading tarot in Austin for 55 years (if I'm remembering correctly, she didn't seem that old). I think she's brilliant at it. i have talked to two different psychics before. the first time, i was completely skeptical, but acquiesced to my friend's urges. the second psychic i went to was last year. my friend wanted to have her palm read, but didn't want to do it alone, so ended up paying for a full reading for the both of us... all we said were our names and birth dates and she took it from there. both times these women gave me explicit and specific details about my life past/present/future. i have had this bug up my ass lately to see someone on my own. i checked yelp and found that she was the only one open late and decided to call her. she was a woman of few words. i could tell immediately why people say she comes off as cold, however i thought she came off as efficient. i also decided that if she was at all what the bad reviews say she is, then the experience itself should be worth it. i don't covet money the way most people do, so if i could get an interesting story out of it in the end, it's money well spent enough. long story short- i'm convinced enough. maybe i caught her on a good night, but she was kind and sweet to me. she knew specific things about me that nobody knows. not only that, but she mirrored what the other two psychics had told me. perhaps it's all a coincidence, perhaps i have just gotten lucky with finding legitimate people.. she didn't go too fast, nor did she ask leading questions. she was very informative- not at all general in what she said, and she seemed to know exactly what my inner conflicts are at this moment in time. she saw the good things, too, and gave very good advice. either way, all three women were consistent and that's good enough for me. carefully listen to her and don't be afraid to ask for a clarification. she'll elaborate and she'll like you if you're not a complete flaketard. if you are thinking about seeing her, just be aware that any false fronts or any facades will be dismantled. she is very straight forward and she probably deals with all kinds of people, especially people who won't flinch at the cost of a reading or spiritual cleansing, so if you want a hand job or a cup of tea for the money spent, go elsewhere. she's doing a reading, not charging you for a therapy session.. read more

I went to Madam Ruth on a whimsy. I was not looking for serious, insightful advice, but I was looking for something more than nothing. What I got was meh, boredom, and generic babble. For $20 I had merely my palm read. She would not look at my main palm, but instead my off hand. Whether or not this is traditional I do not know. But she asked me to 'make a wish' and hold the money, and then began to become annoyed after a few seconds. The majority of the reading was standard carnival fare. I would meet someone who would try to cheat me in the future, I would find love some time soon, wealth was coming, I would live a long life, yadda yadda. Nothing that I couldn't have watched on television and gotten. My favorite part was when she told me that travel was in my future, after asking me where I was from (out of town). Yes, travel. I have been to numerous readings over my life. I took my daughter since we were on vacation in Austin. Madam Ruth's reading was ridiculous. She told my daughter virtually what she told other people on this sight. "you have two guys in your life-one with dark hair and one with light hair." Other than that nothing of concrete value. We paid her $65 each for a total of 15 minutes. Now that is a good living. She wanted us to spend over $200 for a cleansing. I went to Madame Ruth feeling very skeptical, but left in amazement. She was very kind and let my friend and I get read in front of each other. She told me things about my past that there was no way she could have known. But one thing that absolutely blew my mind was Madam Ruth told me I had lived with a man for 4 years and that it was very difficult for me so I would be moving to California. I DID live with my boyfriend for exactly 4 years, I AM having a difficult time, and I had JUST set my moving date for January 23rd to CALIFORNIA. My friend took me to see Madam Ruth for my birthday, such a great gift! I am usually quite skeptical of these type of things but am always entertained by the idea of it. Madam Ruth said some things that were spot on, and had no way of knowing them ahead of time about upcoming travel plans, my family history, luck (or not) in love, etc. Will all of her predictions and my fortunes come true? TBD, but it was well worth the experience of sitting in her small room full various figurines and listening to her stream-of-conscience reading of my cards.
