She then used a very specific metaphor (i.e. "it's almost like..."). Except that it was not "almost like"; it was, indeed, the exact topical framework I had chosen for my thesis the week before. Because the child continued to come out to interrupt the reading, Rosa said she was very sorry but just couldn't do this right now and cancelled in the middle of the reading. She offered a $40 discount if we came back at 6:00 instead... our appointment was at 3:30. Not going to wait around 2 and a half hours. I'm absolutely sensitive to family needs and I know childcare sometimes is difficult to secure, but I wish she would have cancelled before we made the drive to come see her.
