Stopped by the Lancome counter today. I had to ask for help. When I inquired what shade powder would be best for my Pacific Islander skin, the lady (Latina, 50ish) at the counter bluntly (and repeatedly) told me that I had sun damage and tried to sell me on a sunscreen instead. She then rubbed a torn cotton ball onto a couple of different compacts and proceeded to blot them on different sections of my face as I was awkwardly standing there holding a heavy face mirror. Ghetto. Not helpful at all. Left not feeling confident about my $45 purchase. Macy's, PLEASE hire individuals that are knowledgeable about different skin tones (women of color) and have better customer service. Going to yet a different Lancome counter at a different Macy's tomorrow for a second and more professional opinion. Ps. The counter was untidy and unattractive. Rebecca at the Dior counter is amazing! I was in the market for new make up and happened to stop by her section and when I met her she was very nice and didn't hound me like they do at sephora. She took her time to show me the foundation I was looking at, made sure it matched my skin tone and sent me home with a sample to try it out. I went back not even a week later to buy the foundation! Her knowledge of the product and her wonderful customer service left me happy! Not to mention she understood what my mom was looking for and made her very happy! Thank you Rebecca and if you are looking for Dior make up, go see her cause at Sephora they use the little machine to color match you and she actually tries the product on! THIS is ONLY for EMPLOYEES Genesis and Erika on September 2, 2013 around 6pm. Customer Service is a concept that many, many companies state is their priority, but rarely is it seen in employees be that management or sales. I think it's because retail employees really don't get compensated enough to justify the often grueling work of dealing with the public and all of the unfortunate situations that should be handled by management. With that said, I have no regard for a sales person who loses their cool, because in the end, it's their job to make sure the customer is satisfied. Certainly, if the sales person can't do this, they should get their manager. BUT NEVER should they lose their temper, or make it seem as if they are doing the customer a favor. This is what customer service is about; making the customer feel like they are welcome-no matter the issue. Okay, I'm getting off my soap box... My mom, bless her soul (she is one of the nicest women you will ever meet, but she is so disorganized! Oiy!), she bought me some items and we needed to exchange three pieces. No problem. Right? Wrong. My mom forgot to bring her receipt and it turns out on one of the tops, when she purchased it, it was missing a tag so the sales person had to print one up for her and apparently there was an issue with the way that was done on the first transaction (somehow it wasn't reading correctly-yikes.)... As this is happening, poor Genesis, the sales girl gets on the phone to try to have this issue figured out...and of course, a line begins to grow. This is the only person working at the register! Instead of making my mom and I feel awful or stressed about the line, she smiles and keeps her cool. She acts like we are the only ones in line and as she try's to explain the situation over the phone and things are being figured out on the other end, the entire time, Genesis keeps a sweet smile and a polite and kind disposition. Got to love this kind of good manners and customer service!!! Fast forward, and Erika helps Genesis with the transaction as it turns out the person on the phone wasn't much help...but seriously, both women were SUPER helpful and it's sales people like THEM that keep customers LOYAL. That's right, Macy's. It's not your sales...it's your sales people. Pay attention to those that represent your store as if it were their own! Thanks again, ladies!!! read more

I hardly trust anybody when it comes to my brows!!! Compliments to "MARIA" at the BENEFIT BROW BAR inside macy's. The staff that works there is amiable & educated on the products they sell!! The shoes & clothing area are always a mess and the perfume sales people are like hawks, BUT 4 out 5 times, I always seem to find what I am looking for... and unfortunately than some. Macy's decided to move their juniors section to its own separate store, which I can see the benefit of...but everything in the store sucks. A lot of it is trendy high end: this is the place to go for Baby Phat, Roca Wear, Ecko, etc. And this is the place to go if you like your skirts short and your dinner puked up. My review is ONLY for the MAC counter!! Horrible service, so unprofessional! Went in yesterday, I stood next to two Hispanic older ladies as were waited for someone to help us. 30 minutes later a Asian lady with a Louie V walks in and the girl at the checking tells her she'll be right with her. She finishes and walks over to her!!!! At this point in so pissed off and ready to go off at her, but the nice Asian lady points at me and tells her I was here first, then I point at the Hispanic ladies and tell her, " no actually they were here first before me, she saw us, she knows!" Then the Mac counter girl just gives me w bad look & proceeds to help the Hispanic ladies, when its my turn I just tell her, "oh she's next I changed my mind I'm going over to bobby brown, thank you". I ended up buying better products Over there after all. So disrespectful, so racist!! Like what does Mac see in hiring these girls. Equal customer service is #1 thing!!! The worst MAC counter, ever!! This is the closest MAC to me, so every time I go, I hope it's a better experience and every time I'm disappointed!! I'm pretty knowledgeable in cosmetics, so usually all I need is someone to grab the products for me and ring them up. I generally need multiple items at a time and spend minimum $100 when I'm there, but the way these employees react, you would think I'm asking for a full on free make over from each and every one of them!! They rarely acknowledge customers, I always have to ask more than one person for help, before I find someone not so involved in gossiping or tasking to actually assist me. Then god forbid I have a product question!! The next time I need something I think I'll order it online or find a substitute at sephora, they may not be "make up artists", but at least they are helpful. read more

Worst customer service while trying to get my watch fixed. Mariam told me they can't resize my watch unless I have proof of purchase from two years ago. She said this was in case they broke it while fixing it. However my watch was in her hand while she said this, what if she dropped it? She was rude and unhelpful. My brother and I walked into the men and home section of Macy's in sought for Men's cologne. My brother knew what he wanted to get so we walked in set and ready. The woman who helped us was really nice. She took her time with us and didn't over power her authority over us or towards my brother. He's a teenager and I look younger than I am, I'm 23 and sometimes look 16-18 so you know how some employees throw attitudes to the youngsters but not her and I greatly appreciate it. This Macy's is my favorite Macy's ever! They carry all of my favorite designers. They have the largest selection of shoes (they carry ecco, too), high end jeans, dresses, petites, makeup, purses...etc. They do free alterations when you buy jeans, in fact, they do just about everything for you. The salsepeople all pretty much know me, and take special care to be extra helpful. If you frequently shop, shop here. You will be treated like a V.I.P. I have been patronizing Macy's stores since I could walk. Their sales used to be beyond incredible. Now, there are so many restrictions and "can't combines" with the discounts offered that it is hardly a sale, given that non-sale prices at Macy's are beyond ridiculous. I just don't find the good finds that I used to, particularly at this location. I recently shopped there on one of their Wednesday Super Sales, buying only 4 items. When I got home, 2 of the 4 items still had their security tags on. I went back to the store on a less busy day, to the register from which I made my purchase and asked to speak to a manager. I explained my situation and the woman who listened realized that she was the one who left the tags on. She was extremely, extremely apologetic. She called the manager and he took care of the situation very much to my satisfaction. I was pleased with how everything was handled and by everyone who assisted me. Good customer service goes a long way. read more

I asked if I could get it shipped free since they were out of stock and they said that it had to be $50+. (because he knows i like to try products on instead of just buying online). So... Today after having a crappy day, i went there because i needed eyeliner a.s.a.p! I was immediately greeted with a genuine person, Michelle. I bought a gift card less than 24 hours ago for $200 for my sisters birthday. Coincidentally my father got her the same gift. I walked in today to Macy's with my ORIGINAL receipt (not a gift receipt) from yesterday, and asked to be refunded the money I paid. The Lady behind the counter was very friendly said she was unsure how to do it So her supervisor working came over and told me they do not have a function in their system to return money on gift cards only to purchase them. Coincidentally she added it happens a lot. When I asked if it happens so often why they do nothing to fix it she gave me a smirk and said, I'll get right on it and fix it. This is my first review I've ever done because I know with being a business owner they can reflect poorly. After the service I was given today I feel the best way to get my point across was to leave a review. With a big corporation like Macy's you would figure they would be able to have a function to refund a purchase with the original receipt. I will never purchase a gift card from there again. Meh. The lady who was helping my boyfriend and I would giggle at the comments I was telling my boyfriend that were meant to be serious and directed towards him...not very professional to eavesdrop. And to top it, I had picked out a bag and when she brought it from the back room, she didn't bother to take it out of the packaging to make sure it was the right purse. Assuming she knows how to do her job, I trusted she at least double checked the style number. But to my surprise it was the wrong bag when I got home and took it out of the packaging. I went to a different Macy's to exchange it and they gave me a hard time and tried to say designer bags are final sale. BS. Next time, I'll just go straight to the actual designers store instead of a department store. read more

The MAC store at this location is horrible. They ignore customers. I was standing at the counter for over 10 minutes and no one acknowledged me at all. I literally had to ask if there was another MAC store before they finally assisted me. They have the worst attitudes. Horrible Horrible Experience my last time there. I went in looking for a new suit for a July wedding for my friend. I saw this new style by Macys called M151. Low cost. Looked sleek. Slim fit. Had my size. Took the time to try it on. Perfect. Went to the cashier to buy it and use my 20% off coupon. After ringing it up - and annoyingly folding my suit instead of getting a garment bag - the cashier said I couldn't use the coupon because the item was everyday value (EDV) and not eligible for coupons. I said there was no sign indicating that above the suits and I've been in Macys enough to know they label that. She said because the item price ended in 98 cents it indicated it was EDV. I reiterated there was no sign and as a casual customer how am I suppose to know that everything ending in 98 cents is EDV. I expect signs. I asked her to show me proof that ALL items ending in 98 cents were EDV. She got belligerent and all she did was point angrily at the screen about 98 cents and then call over a coworker to have him repeat the 98 cent rule. I again asked for PROOF of the 98 cent rule. She got angrier and called over a manager who also just regurgitated what the cashier said about 98 cents. I repeated my point to her. No sign the suit was EDV. No proof anywhere items ending in 98 cents were EDV. She saw I was holding firm - and looked like she just wanted to end this - , said I had a valid point and offered to just honor my coupon. Which is great and I obviously took her up on that offer but I didn't appreciate (a) the attitude of the cashier (b) the cashier and manager treating me like an idiot who couldn't grasp the concept that 98 cents = EDV. I could. I'm a grown man and not a pre-teen buying his first suit with money his mommy gave him. That was never my point. My point was show me actual proof anywhere in the store that actually said that. Something more than you just telling me so. They never did. Which is absolutely piss poor customer service because if you are going to enforce a rule like this, THEN LET PEOPLE KNOW IT IS A RULE. or at least put a blasted sign over every item that is EDV. read more
