When we came in the two owners (I think) were so kind and helped us figure out what to order, but when she told them everything was vegan I got very nervous that it wouldn't be good or not good enough. Well, most us of us got the taco bar and every single person agreed it was the best meal we've have so far on our trip (probably our 7th time eating out!). Truly the best bread I've ever had, a delicious cinnamon bun thing I had thought I would have to miss out on, and universally love soya meat which is a first for me among a group of primarily meat eaters. Gyllene Uttern (Golden otter) is a lovely hotel and café along the eastern shore and a perfect rest spot with a scenic vista to enjoy a Swedish fika (Jause in Austrian, coffee break in English). The café here serves up various teas and coffees along with your favorite Swedish sweets (think Kanelbullar). Of course there are more substantial dishes as well and the Räksmörgås (shrimp sandwich) is excellent. On a sunny day enjoy your treats on the open air terrace overlooking Lake Vattern. If it is too cool, don't worry. There are large picture windows in the café looking towards the lake. A stop at Gyllene Uttern leaves you completely refreshed and sufficiently refueled to continue on to Stockholm!
