'Meh' is right on…read more This on-campus cornershop just about does the job when the study stomach rumbles kick in but when it comes to fresh produce, I'm consistently disappointed with the quality of the fruit. Stock is limited, prices are higher than other supermarkets and it generally makes for a cramped shopping experience. I grab and go. As fast as I can. On the plus side, staff couldn't be nicer and the asian food section is very reasonable. But avoid the sad, poorly fruit section!
Adie's Self Service
Nice local shop, but in a good way, not like the one in The League of Gentlemen. Stocks pretty much…read moreeverything you'd need, as well as a fair selection of alcoholic drinks - including a fair few Polish lagers. (And not just the usual Tyskie and Zywiec!)
Spar

Being located close to the health centre and closest to the Lamond Drive area of town, Spar has a very good selection of goods for good prices, and best of all, it rarely has queues. Service is good and quick. Unfortunately its selection cannot meet that of nearby Morrisons, and its prices not that of nearby Aldi, but for a small all-round supermarket, Spar is just right!
Co-op
What a great little store. And to be clear, this is much more than a convenience store. They have…read morefresh produce, fresh baked goods, and beer, cider, and spirits. What's more is it is a co-op and so has members with a common mission of giving back to their community. It's wonderful to see these stores throughout Scotland. This particular store is tidy and organized and has a good selection of groceries. Don't miss it!

It's like every other co-op. Good, clean, well stocked, decent service…read more I love that it opens at 6am as I find it a rarity in Edinburgh that really anywhere opens before 8am for coffee and food. This co-op understands my long work hours and allows me to buy my lunch to ensure I don't starve. This is also the co-op where I discovered there truly irresistible smoked salmon and potato salad which is just delicious, I've not seem to anywhere else and would drive back here just to get it again.

In fact, even though this place is tiny, you can find there quite a good selection of basic veg/fruit etc. and some of that is usually in some good offer. It's true you will pay sometimes the price for the convenient store, but comparing to other stores like this, the quality of food seems to be better. In particular their own brand Truly Irresistible :] And come later at the evening when they are marking flowers cheaper ;) But avoid, if you can, to come lunch time. They do have big cues even though they have many employees. I think it's the result of being the only shop around.
