I hired Claire for a renovation of my 2,600 sq ft flat in London, expecting professional interior design services. Instead, she did little more than act as a poorly managed project coordinator--and even at that, she failed miserably. Lack of Design Input & Poor Project Management I only needed basic updates (repainting, wallpaper, and curtains), yet Claire failed to contribute any meaningful design input. Every idea she proposed was uninspiring, so I ended up sourcing everything myself. Despite this, she still charged premium fees. Since I don't live in London full-time, I relied on her to oversee the work properly--but she didn't. Every time I visited to check progress, I found multiple mistakes that should have been obvious to anyone paying attention. I had to personally point out errors that she should have caught. The curtains I ordered through her were so poorly made that they weren't even straight! The Scam: Lied About Using Farrow & Ball Paint The worst part came after the renovation was "finished." A month later, while boiling water in the kitchen, I accidentally left the lid open for less than a minute. Steam rose to the upper cupboard, and to my shock, a large white mark appeared on the painted door. I had specifically requested Farrow & Ball paint (a high-end, durable brand I've used for 25+ years). Suspicious, I asked the contractor about it--he admitted they did not use Farrow & Ball. When I confronted Claire, she lied repeatedly, insisting she had ordered Farrow & Ball. After I presented her with evidence from both the contractor and Farrow & Ball itself (who confirmed their paint wouldn't react that way), she finally admitted the truth. She had used a different, cheaper brand without informing me, despite charging me for Farrow & Ball. Can You Trust Anything She Orders? This incident made me question everything. If she cut corners on something as fundamental as paint, what else did she swap out without my knowledge? I paid her a premium to handle orders, only to be deceived. Final Verdict Claire is not a designer--at best, she's a sloppy project manager, and at worst, she's dishonest. If you value trust, quality, and professionalism, stay far away. You're better off managing your own project or hiring someone truly reliable.

Designers Guild is an eye-popping bevy of furniture, linens, wallpaper, and drapery. It's really worth a visit just to see how marvelously creative people can be when given carte blanche to so. Everything on offer here is so, so, *so* finely-detailed and well-made and beautiful - it's design execution at its pinnacle. They carry the likes of Ralph Lauren Home and Jasper Conran - some designs of which are exclusive to the store. And they just recently launched their own line of fabrics and wallpapers under the name of "The Royal Collection." This line has supposedly been inspired by interiors found in the residences of the Royals - my goodness, it makes me want to see them!!!
