At Studio Stage Door all stylists are Japanese and a big chunk of their clientele is Japanese as well. I like this very much, as I kind of feel transported into another world when I come here to get my hair cut. I especially enjoy the lively chatter in a tongue that seems so familiar yet is still so different from either of the languages that I speak. It is at moments like this, when I'm absolutely thrilled to live in a cosmopolitain city! Originally, I heard about this place through my partner who is Asian and who treasures the special skills of the stylists here: they know how to handle the straight & often tricky hair so typical for the Asian people. But also, they also still master the art of a full-fledged scissors hair-cut...no razors allowed! Took an hour to do a pretty basic haircut, i have short hair, just needed a re-shape nothing fancy, a bob haircut. Two talented barbers, Mario and Hasan, and they do it cheap. The cut you get here will be as good as any you would spend twice or thrice as much for at a hairdresser. The only downside is the waiting times. I usually get my hair coloured from here and they always do a good job. Prices start from £15 which is reasonable. You can usually get an appointment without calling in advance, but not on Saturdays as they're always really busy. It's best to call ahead on weekends. The hairdressers are really experienced and some have been working as hairdressers for 7 years or more and this is a successful business. I used the online booking system- Treatwell, and ended up with a same day appointment, YAY! When I arrived at Love Hair, I was a tad early, so was happy to wait. Unfortunately I ended up waiting around 30-45mins, which was beyond Jane's control. Luckily, Jane and Jack are both super friendly, and were keeping me updated the whole time. So onto the cut. I LOVE IT! Jane really listened to what I wanted, and took a great pride in her work. Even though she was now running over 45mins behind her schedule, she did not rush me or the cut at any time. Love Hair Brixton is a reasonably new salon, and in a sea of salons their friendliness, passion and skills is what will bring me back.

I have had to return twice or more for a root retouch or where the colourist hasn't listened or realised what strength colour should be put in first place or where grey roots have shown after as little as 2-3 weeks. When I voiced my concerns it appeared they listened but when I returned again, no they hadn't listened at all as same mistakes were made again. You have to ask a few times for a cup of tea! Hectic frantic salon. A couple of the other stylists are ok. Cuts have been good in the past.
