Before…read morebeing taken over by Waitrose, this used to be a Co-op and it was a fairly depressing place to shop, but now it's a Waitrose it's become much more pleasant. The most enjoyable aspect of this shop is that it is reasonably quite. It's not full of hoards of people like Asda and Tesco. Obviously, the quality of the food is of a high standard although I do find that the fresh produce can go off quite quickly. It's a little more expensive than other supermarkets so I don't exclusively shop here, but bargains can also be found with the Waitrose Essentials range. There is a pharmacy, dry cleaners and two coffee shops on site, and if you register for a My Waitrose card you can get a free tea or coffee every time you shop, plus a free copy of the monthly magazine - who doesn't like a freebie?! Parking is generally easy and I even manage to get a parent and child space on most occasions. There are also plenty of trolleys so you don't need to go searching for one. It's the simple things! Another plus point of this store is that you can order from John Lewis and pick up here which is pretty handy to save on delivery costs.

Spacious, wide aisles and courteous staff (or partners, as they like to be known) make Waitrose an all round pleasurable shopping experience. For me, anyway. Contrary to popular belief, Waitrose isn't snobby or expensive, just has some clever marketing. Sure, they do sell stuff that most people won't want or need (scented ironing water anyone?) But they get the basics right too. Like I said before, if it's good enough for the Queen then it's good enough for me!

They have basically all the dried goods you could need - of course, I'm always wishing that the grocery stores in this country would have a little more Mexican food stuffs, but that's just not going to happen. Ha. The annoying thing is that if you are using an American credit card, prepare to wait to have a manager come over so that they can watch you sign. I'm not sure what that could possibly do to help w/ fraud, so I find that quite annoying. I understand that you are sometimes going to have problems - but that's just the downfalls of owning a business. And if you are going to make people annoyed that would generally shop there all the time, you could lose business over this policy. If you want business, isn't the general rule that you get your customer lovin' on? That's what I'd do if I wanted to make money. I'd also like it if they sold some cheap tupperware. I mean, I'm making food here, and I'm single - I need a place to put the left-overs. Again, that just makes sense to me, but maybe the numbers just don't support it. Overall, I like this the best of the grocery stores in Worthing. However, I'm starting to fall for Waitrose again. We had a little falling out after they tried to kick me out of their cafe... but I'm feeling forgiving.

I really appreciate the help. I can usually find everything I need in this store and I find it well stocked. At my advanced age I much prefer it to the larger stores where I seem to walk miles to find all the goods I want.

Although Go Local calls itself a convenience store, there's enough inside to make it more like a…read moresmall grocers. Two aisles of fresh looking (and I can only assume) local produce are set up in the centre, dividing the shop into two halves. One had basic groceries and last-minute needs; milk, cereal, cans of soup, etc; as well as home supplies like kitchen towel, soaps and batteries. There's an offsale section near the back, with a modest selection of wines and ales. The other side of the shop is basically just for sweets - and there's a lot. Candies, cookies, chocolate bars and chips are really about half of the items for sale here. A small cooler displays pre-packaged sandwiches for quite cheap - 99p gets you a sandwich and apple or banana deal. I'm not sure whether that was just a holiday deal, but it's worth a look. The two shopkeepers were friendly and helpful, offering to help me find anything as I looked around. As convenience stores go, this one is quite impressive.

With so many corner shops in the area, its good to know there are places that aren't adding massive card charges and offer fresh fruit and veg: unheard of in most corner shops, I would imagine! Being on the same street as Farm and Bills, I can see why Go Local has gone for the fresh, local produce: the whole area is a local produce Mecca. Undercutting the competition as the cheap option, as well as offering regular corner shop goods, is a fantastic move by this little corner shop, and one I applaud. Almost a grocers/corner shop, the selection is cheap and perfectly good quality: nothing on Bills, but a fraction of the price. The fact that you can buy cigarettes and booze as well, not to mention organic chocolate and regular corner shop staples, is just a bonus. Go Local has become my corner shop of choice when I travel through the Laine, and I can only recommend a visit if you're traveling through the area. In the end, it is a corner shop: it won't have everything in stock that you're looking for and hasn't the clean, corporate allure of the nearby Co-Ops and Tesco Expresses. Still, if you like to go local, the clue's in the name really: stop in here instead.

They offer a good selection of vegetables, all of which are very affordably priced. Depending on when you come, you will find varying selections of products on offer. One week I bought strawberries for £1, the next week they were £2. You'll sometimes the vegetables are a little past their prime, but this is to be expected with a local business of this nature. The staff are generally chatty and friendly, something that always make me inclined to coming back.
