As the City of Landshut was not hit by allied bombs in WWII, the church is entirely and originally old besides the common rehabilitations and renovations.
One can't eventually tell it from looking at it, but it truely is the highest brick-church-tower on earth.
This is not the only reason why it is a pity that one cannot climb the tower, because the inner roof structure and the belfry are very beautiyful as well. Fortunately the Burg Trausnitz only some meters distant offers the longed for sight over the historic city and the hinterland at same level.
As well beautiful and always a welcome relief from shopping in the city are the organ recitals that take place in St. Martin every saturday just before noon for free!
